181 Zuo Shangchen's Fury 1

"Xiao Yun’er, are you joking with me?"

Zuo Shangchen could not stop himself from laughing and his laugh was mesmerizing enough for countries to fall beneath his feet. His charm unrivaled on this mainland.

Even Gu Ruoyun has to admit that she still feels a pleasant attraction whenever she sees him despite knowing him for almost three years already.

It's almost an insult to all women for a man to be this provocative.

"Do I have nothing better to do after a full meal for me to order the Dark Yin Palace to assassinate you? Also, if you’re dead, your brother would probably flip the world upside down!"

Most importantly, he has no reason to kill Gu Ruoyun. Thus, it was basically impossible to say that someone from the Dark Yin Palace wanted to assassinate her!

Swoosh!

The blade of an icy sword pressed against Zuo Shangchen’s throat. Wei Yiyi’s lips were turned up into a seductive smile but her eyes remained cold, "The assassins who had come were really from the Dark Yin Palace. Fourth Prince, please do provide us with an explanation!"

"Such impudence!"

Qingyi saw Wei Yiyi’s actions and her expression changed rapidly. Just as she wanted to draw her sword, Zuo Shangchen stopped her with a wave of his hand.

"Stand down, Qingyi."

The devilish smile slowly left his face. He narrowed his seductive eyes and asked, "Xiao Yun’er, were you’re being completely serious here?"

Based on Gu Ruoyun’s attitude, she would not be here if she was not absolutely sure of the situation.

Then that means that someone in the Dark Yin Palace really wants to assassinate her!

The fire of fury grew within his chest as Zuo Shangchen followed that line of thought. Whichever incompetent idiot that was responsible for this deserves to die! That person has caused him to be blamed for this! If he knew the culprit behind this, his anger would not subside until that person has been chopped into a million pieces!

"What do you think, Fourth Prince?" Gu Ruoyun laughed. "If it wasn’t for the formation in my compound, my head would probably be detached from my body right now! Do you believe we are telling the truth now?"

Zuo Shangchen knew she was angry when Gu Ruoyun referred to him as the ‘Fourth Prince’. She was speaking the truth, though. The Dark Yin Palace would not give up on a target that it wanted dead; if the first attack failed, they would send more people for a second attack and they will only stop when the target is dead. Gu Ruoyun’s current level of power was not comparable to the stubborn old man in the Dark Yin Palace.

Thus, it was natural for her to be infuriated; after all, she had nearly died for no apparent reason. How could she not be angry?

"I’m wrongly accused, Xiao Yun’er." said Zuo Shangchen, his gorgeous expression had turned depressed, "I really had no idea about this. If you would give me some time, I will definitely provide you with an explanation."

Gu Ruoyun was quiet for a moment before she signaled Wei Yiyi to sheath her sword. Her beautiful face was graced with a smile.

However, Zuo Shangchen felt a chill running down his spine when he saw that smile.

"Fourth Prince, please do be swift in your investigation regarding the mastermind behind this. If this were to cause an inconvenience to the people around me, I will overturn the Dark Yin Palace. Even if my capabilities are not strong enough for that now but trust me, I will definitely do that one day."

Zuo Shangchen’s body shuddered a little at her threat. His eyes gazed deeply at the slender young girl before him. At this moment, this girl was just like a domineering king with her pride on display for all the world to see.

He believed that Gu Ruoyun would attain that power.

A person who was called a good-for-nothing and who was at level two in the Qi Cultivation ranks just three years ago could actually achieve such heights within the span of these few years!

Only the geniuses of a few formidable forces would probably have a talent like hers.

However, when compared to those other geniuses, Gu Ruoyun’s spiritual ocean was endless. That means that her cultivation and breakthroughs were much more difficult than the average person! Under these circumstances, she could still achieve such success in such a short time!
