167 The Conflict for the Pill Formulas 2

"What’s the matter? Am I not worthy of the second formula?"

The gray-robed Elder looked at Gu Xianglin with a deceptively light look. His voice took on a sinister tone, "So that’s all there is to the Gu family’s sincerity."

"Sir, I swear to you with heaven and earth as my witness that I’m loyal to you." Second Master Gu hurriedly said as he eyed Gu Xianglin, "Quickly hand over the Beauty Rejuvenation Pill formula."

"But..." Gu Xianglin hesitated and he felt conflicted, "I had promised foster father that I will give him a pill formula. If I were to give both formulas away, how am I supposed to face my foster father?"

Knowing his foster father’s temper, he would surely throw a huge tantrum. And then, if this Elder refused to guide him or be his mentor, everything he had worked so hard for would be for naught.

"Humph!" The gray-robed Elder scoffed. The temperature around him plummeted, "Gu Ming, you said this is the so-called formula you had tried so hard to obtain for me. It really doesn’t seem that way. What do you have to say for yourself?"

Gu Ming was Second Master Gu’s name. Upon hearing the Elder’s words, he was frightened nearly to death and feared that this Elder would eliminate him for this perceived slight. 

"Sir, you must believe me. My allegiance is only towards you and no other!"

As if afraid the gray-robed Elder would not believe his words, Second Master Gu took a few big steps towards Gu Xianglin. His eyes glared with intent as he threatened him, "My son, I’m your father. You should listen to me. Even though you are now the foster son of the Gentle Breeze Faction’s Master but I’m still your birth father! I order you to hand over the other pill formula! This Elder here is so strong that even a hundred Gentle Breeze Factions could not be compared to him. As long as you are obedient, you will get what is due."

Gu Xianglin’s eyes turned glum instantly and he tightly gripped his knuckles.

Truth be told, he would like this Elder to favor him but he had always done things conscientiously and cautiously to avoid being caught in a corner. If he were to hand over both pill formulas, ties would surely be severed with his foster father. 

Gu Xianglin was ill with regret.

He regretted telling this good news to his foster father rashly.

If his foster father did not know that he had the formulas, then he wouldn't be caught in this position now.

But he also understood that to this Elder, people like him were like mere ants, easy to kill at will. If he really did not hand over the remaining formula, he probably would not be able to leave the secret room alive.

As his thoughts reached there, Gu Xianglin took a deep breath and slowly placed his hand into his sleeves. Under the stares of the gray-robed Elder and his father, he took out the second ancient formula.

His gaze was filled with unwillingness and dismay but in the end, he still placed the pill formula into the palm of the gray-robed Elder.

The moment the formula was taken away, he felt his entire body go weak. His body went limp as he slumped onto the wall behind him. He slowly closed both his eyes and could not take another look at the formula that had just left his hands.

"Not bad," The gray-robed Elder put the formula in his sleeve and nodded in satisfaction, "Seeing that you have handed over both formulas in the end, I will overlook your lies from earlier on. Merits offset faults, I will not punish you."

What was the meaning of this?

Gu Xianglin widened his eyes and looked at the Elder in shock.

"You said merits offset faults? What did I do wrong? How did it become merits offset faults? What about the reward? Where are the rewards for giving you the pill formulas?"
