Chapter 63 - Mystogan's Runic Enchantment magic!

After the whole weird incident with the System team creation, me and Mystogan exited the cave with a rather unamused mood surrounding us.

"That was rather anti-climactic..." I said.

"Yeah, honestly this feels more like a children's game now than a death game after that fiasco..." Mystogan replied, putting his mask over his face.

We didn't talk much after that, we simply walked back to Magnolia and went our different ways.

Mystogan had a job request he had picked from the guild to do so he decided to go and do it before night hit, he'd need the money for an inn after all.

As for me, I simply went back to the guildhall and talked to my friends.

To put it simply, I got a lot of questions thrown at me...

The moment I stepped into the guildhall they called over to me and once I was seated, they started asking about if I knew Mystogan or not, what with the whole silent staring between us and then private talk for like nearly two hours...

Yeah, I probably should have known they'd get curious if I just left with Mystogan...

Erza seemed more relieved than anything, simply smiling at me while everyone else asked about Mystogan, stuff like who he was and where he came from. What my connection was with him and if he's a cool guy to hang around with!

I told them he was an old acquaintance from a job and that he's a rather shy individual, they'd need to wait quite a bit for him to open up to them.

It wasn't satisfying enough for them though so they kept persisting on more information...

Time passed and Mystogan quickly climbed the rank of job requests, gramps went as far as to say that if Mystogan could teleport like me, he'd probably have the same efficiency and speed with clearing job requests!

And it wasn't too surprising considering the versatility of his Ability, the so called Runic Enchanting magic.

We had a whole team meeting thing about a week after we formed team "Fairy Tail", discussing what our abilities can and what they can't do, so I knew just how overpowered it was.

We had gone to the forest and were sitting inside of a make shift wooden hut that I had created with my magic for a more comfortable discussion.

It had a single front door and two windows with little furnishing, simply a carpet with a table over it and some chairs, I of course took out a few drinks for us to drink while talking over things, as well as some snacks to go along with the drinks.

Mystogan didn't really eat too much, but he enjoyed the orange juice I served him.

"So, your ability 'Word Soul Magic' can create and do anything that you say? As long as it's something that exists naturally and you have the magic power to do it, huh..." Mystogan commented on my ability.

"Yes, I can even cast status effects on myself and enchant items I've created with effects. However, I'm the only one who can use these effects, in the hands of another it'd be like the item was not even enchanted, that being because my magic cannot affect someone directly, and using an enchantment effect could in turn affect the user in some way depending on the effect itself." I explained.

"Hmm, most interesting indeed. It is definitely a powerful ability despite the restrictions, more than versatile enough to help you fight against any foe." Mystogan commented, "Now then as for my ability..." he continued.

"Runic Enchanting... A rather interesting name, I can take a guess at what it does from it alone." I replied while crossing my arms and leaning back on my chair.

"Yes, as you've probably guessed this ability allows me to enchant any items I come across using Runes." Mystogan said and touched the table, many layers of runes instantly spread across it and glowed with a dim blue light.

"You enchanted the table? What does it do now?" I asked, my interest piqued.

"I simply made it so the table automatically repairs itself when damaged, it uses the Ethernano in the air for fuel so the effect can be used pretty much always. As long as it's charged up anyway, if it doesn't have the time to recharge then the effect won't activate." Mystogan explained and tapped the table with a finger, one of his rings began to glow and a multitude of cracks formed all over the table.

Not long after the table itself began to glow and repaired itself back to its original form.

"Hmm, I see. So, you're capable to creating your own weapons and even utility items, like those two staves and the rings you wear. I ȧssume they're all enchanted with all kinds of different abilities?" I inquired.

"You're correct, I'm able to add any effect that I can imagine via the runes I create. However, there is a limitation to my ability that can be detrimental in some cases..." Mystogan said, holding his hands together and placing them at the table while talking.

"And that is?" I asked, leaning towards the table a bit while taking a snack to munch on.

"My ability depends on three things," Mystogan said while raising three fingers, "my skill with using it, my vivid imagination and the quality of the item I use." He explained.

"Ooh! That makes sense, yeah! Go on!" I said, getting a little excited over some ideas I had the sudden inspiration for.

Mystogan nodded and continued, "You see, the quality of the enchantment, and sometimes even the ability of the enchantment itself depends on the quality of the item I use as a base. For example, if I used a ring made of stone or the like I wouldn't be able to cast the Truth perception enchantment on it, however a silver ring does just fine with that. The same can be said for a normal stick, if I were to cast a flame enchantment on it then it would never work no matter how skillfully I write the runes, however an iron one can be enchanted like that. When I first started off using this ability, I wanted to give my cloak the ability to make me fly, but it simply didn't work because the cloth was of poor quality, even when I tried with a silver ring as the base it still didn't allow for flight." Mystogan gave an explanation on the limitations of his power.

Indeed, that is certainly interesting and situationally a huge limitation. To Mystogan who has nothing in this world it can cause many problems, but to a rich noble or merchant it would only be a minor inconvenience.

But... With that explanation my idea has started to seem really feasible now...

"Hmm, that can certainly prove challenging to overcome in your case. However, you needn't worry too much about it anymore Mystogan." I smirked at him, knowing how to fix his problem with ease.

"What do you mean?" He asked, his face obviously questioning my reasoning.

"I can create physical items with my words. {Adamantium ring}." I answered, creating a single ring for Mystogan to use.

The ring appeared right in front of Mystogan, he looked at it carefully for a moment before his shock set in, after realizing what I had handed him he quickly grabbed it to look over its quality.

"This..." He spoke in astonishment, "This can be used for pretty much everything..." He said and cast his ability.

The ring glowed brightly with a cyan light. Once the runes were covering its frame Mystogan removed one of his original rings and put the new one on.

In no time flat, he was floating above the air and over the table.

"Finally, I've acquired flight magic." Mystogan smiled, satisfied with his new item.

"Someone seems happy." I grinned at him.

"Yes, I've been wanting to use this ability for quite a while. Flying is beyond useful in combat after all." Mystogan said and sat back down on his chair.

"Here's a question for you," I spoke, "can your enchantments be used by other people? Or is it like mine where only you can use them." I asked.

"I haven't tried giving an item to someone else, let's see if it works..." Mystogan replied and took off his flight ring, handing it to me.

After I put the ring on my finger, I simply had my magic power course through it and the effect activated like any other Holder item, sending me soaring to the roof of the small wooden hut.

Sweet!

"This is awesome!" I exclaimed with a wide smile, extremely happy at the revelation.

Sweet! Very, very sweet!

Mystogan looked at me amusingly, "Hahaha! Yes, flight is awesome but haven't you been able to do it all this time? Why the sudden outburst Arthur?" Mystogan inquired, confused as to why I'd be happy over being able to fly.

I can obviously fly by myself already, however... Something I've always wanted to do was give enchanted items to my guildmates, however the best I could do was give Erza some high-quality armor and weaponry. The only real thing I could do other than that would have been to give all the brawlers like Natsu, Cana, Gildarts and Mira some gauntlets with brass knuckles or something of the like.

That's not exactly too helpful now is it?

Now however...

"Mystogan! With the both of us working together, we could equip everyone with high quality gear that grants them multiple different magics that they can't normally use! Imagine how powerful our team could become if they all were covered in enchantments!" I exclaimed in excitement.

"... You're right... This is actually beyond amazing..." Mystogan mused with a hand on his chin, a grin slowly formed on his face all the while.

"Let's begin making items for you, we can gear up some of our guildmates later on too, like Erza and Gildarts! Those two would benefit the most from these!" I said while landing back down on the ground.

Imagine a flying Gildarts or Erza... Scary...

"Yes, let's do it!" Mystogan had now gotten excited, "Can you make staves from the same material as the rings? Do you have anything better?" he asked.

"I can make anything from the same material, even clothes! And yes, I do have something better! Hahahaha! Let's get this started!" I laughed heartily.

The following hours we spent simply by crafting powerful items for Mystogan to use, I created the same type of material as I did for my battle armor clothing that I had used against Madara all those months ago.

Rings, staves and clothing that mirrored Mystogan's original apparel were made from the Vibranium and Adamantium mix. I also made more rings and even medallions for him, to simply quantify his potential power increase as a times ten or twenty would do him little justice!

His ability was truly beyond compatible with the creation ability my Word Soul magic has, usually you'd be incapable of finding such material anywhere in the world yet now Mystogan had acquired what was essentially better quality than the best he'd be able to find within a life time!

And he had an unlimited supply through me!

With Mystogan's current skill with the runic enchanting ability, he can't really bring out the full potential that these materials had through his enchanting, he'd need to gain experience before he can do so.

To put it simply, he's wasting the high quality materials at the moment whe looking at his current skill at enchanting...

However, because I can produce them indefinitely it really doesn't matter even a little.

Right now, the tiers that Mystogan can go up to when crafting an item are:

common, uncommon, rare and unique.

When considering the future, we also added the tiers:

Epic, Legendary, Mythic and Divine.

Over all there were eight tiers of enchantment quality that Mystogan could make in the future, each would require more concentration and skill than the last! However, the better the tier the stronger the enchantment. With more extra abilities to it and even more potential powers! Not to mention you'd be able to use them far longer than a weaker enchantment.

The higher the tier, the more Ethernano can be stored inside of an item. At the higher tiers it even uses less Ether than the lower tiers for the same abilities.

To be able to create a flight enchantment, Mystogan had to reach a Rare quality, it didn't matter what material it was because if the tier was below rare then flight would be impossible.

We experimented with teleportation too, however it didn't work even with his current best Unique quality which took more than ten tries for him to make... Perhaps in the future we would be able to have everyone equip a ring of teleportation, being able to zoom through the battlefield at high speeds with it!

This man is a gold mine! No, a diamond mine!

We decided that for now we'd start making items for the S class and the Master. Erza would be the first to try Mystogan's handy work only a few days later during our usual training session together, to say that she enjoyed the new gear was an understatement.

Even Lazarus commented that the items were incredible, he was happy that Erza would be safer with such items.

We also gave Ur and Gildarts a ring of Flight each, as for what other items would be good for those two, we'd decide on later.

Things were starting to truly look up for the members of Fairy Tail now!
