Chapter 136 - Illusion (1)

Name:Descent of the Demon God Author:
Dark, unlit room. Someone placed his hand on a certain spot in the room without even turning on the light. At once, the wall cracked open, revealing a black safe within it.

“Hah…”

The man sighing while watching the safe was Chun Wukyung. After watching the safe for a bit while in thought, Chun Wukyung tapped on the passcode entry. After finishing the code with his fingerprints for the last step, the safe opened. There was a old fashioned cellphone within it that had gone out of mass market tens of years ago. This phone, that had no other abilities than a phone call, was a modified one to only call to a one distinctive number. The call went through after just two signals.

-Whoa, I would’ve missed this call if I left early today.

A machine altered voice came from other side of the phone. Chun Wukyung replied.

“We need do deal with this as soon as possible. I had no choice.”

-Deal with this…? Well, seeing that you called out of our routine call, makes me think that this sure is an emergency.

“We don’t have much time.”

-Of course, customer. How can I help you?

“I need a new secure server.”

-A new server? Is there something wrong with the current one?

“Our current server is exposed. Due to internal problem.”

-Oh, is it? But the current server will keep changing its IP address, so it won’t be traceable unless there’s any special issue to it.

Just to the voice said, the current server’s security was perfect. The main computer that runs the server changed in hour frame, and also kept changing its IP address so it was impossible to track down. But Chun Wukyung did not wish to leave any kind of concerns.

“I will pay.”

-Well, well. If that is what you wish, customer. But you will need to pay at least D-grade or higher core for a new secure server.

Chun Wukyung accepted the proposal right away. He had a core he acquired recently anyway.

-And of course, you have to pay ahead.

“…I know that. And also…

-AND? Oh, so you have more job for me? That would change the cost of goods sold.

The voice spoke teasingly, but Chun Wukyung did not respond to every jokes.

“I want you to get rid of someone.”

-…That is unexpected. I thought you want nothing from us other than our technological support.

“Just tell me if you can or not.”

-Hahaha. Where is the person?

“Jenam City. We have to do this now, but we don’t have a man to handle the target.”

-Sounds like a trouble.

Chun Wukyung’s face turned grim at the voice. It wasn’t just a trouble. The man was dangerous enough to bring doom to Chun Wukyung.

-…Customer?

“Ah, yes. I’m here.

-You need to give me an idea of how dangerous this target is, to give you the price.

“S grade.”

-Highest grade, then.

“Yes.”

-S Grade danger… I guess the target made a big trouble for you. Well, I will need at least A grade core for that, then.

Chun Wukyung bit on his lips. This was much higher cost than he expected. A grade core was a treasure he had acquired only after taking huge sacrifice to his faction.

-How would you like it, customer?

‘Dammit!’

But Chun Wukyung also knew that the situation would call for such high price to pay anyway.

“I will pay right now.”

-Whoa! You sure have a deep pocket. I thought you would’ve already processed the A grade core you got before. This is surprising.

“So, can you do it right away?

-Yes, yes. It’s actually a good opportunity for me. There is a Gate Warning active at Jenam City, so I was actually about to move on with an experiment there, and get a core while at it.

“Experiment?

-Yeah, it’s confidential. Anyway, thank you for the A grade core. We will provide you with the new secure server as a complimentary.

“…Understood.”

-Please send us the information about our S grade target. Goodbye.

The phone hung up. Chun Wukyung leaned on the back for a while, then reached into his pocket to pick out his cigarette with a shaking hands and mumbled.

“I have came this far… I am not going to die by some remnants of the old!”

Next day.

Executives meeting room at the Yongchun Group Headquarter in Jenam City.

Chun Yujang, his arm now back on after a surgery, spoke to Chun Yeowun with delighted voice.

“It’s just a day old, but this is going viral!”

The reason why he was so delighted was simple. It was because of the surveillance camera that they uploaded to Chun Wukyung faction’s secure server that they got from Im Kang. The result of the video was incredible. On the tablet pc placed on the desk, showed number of cultists contacting them from Chun Wukyung’s faction.

“we have thirty three clans trying to get in contact with us in just a day. There are eight high class clans among them. This is a good start, ancestor!”

The result, of course, was all thanks to Chun Yeowun. He had revealed his true identity through the video, bringing chaos and mass exodus out of Chun Wukyung’s faction. And the result was terribly quick. The video was uploaded just 17 hours ago. But Chun Yeowun wasn’t much satisfied.

“This isn’t enough.”

He heard that the current Great Demonic Cult had total of about 700 clans. Chun Yujang’s faction had total of 146 clans, lowest number of clans out of all three factions. Even after those 33 clans coming in to their fold, their numbers weren’t still one third of the entire cult.

“But at this rate, it will not take long for our faction to become powerful.”

Chun Yujang believed this was a good sign. If 33 clans moved in just a day, it was very likely that more clans were going to follow the trend.

‘Ancestor had such great influence.’

Chun Yujang couldn’t hide his excitement. Chun Yeowun then looked at him coldly and snapped.

“Your faction?”

“Pardon?”

“You are mistaken. Do you think what I am doing is to strengthen your petty faction?”

‘Oh crap!’

Chun Yujang became shocked. He realized that he had made a mistake.

“N-no, I’m just…”

“Let us make this clear. There is no ‘faction’ within the cult. Remember this.”
