Chapter 16 - Transfer Student

"Humph! Look at her acting all high and mighty even after she was caught trying to slander you." Quan Xinya snorted. She hated Shen Bai with a passion now that she saw just how far the cheap woman would go to slander Shen Xia.

"This is not the end. You do not know Shen Bai as much as I do. I will need to watch out for what she plans to do next. My guess is she will try to make up for what happened today by trying to reverse the situation back on me." Shen Xia sighed. She knew Shen Bai more than anyone. The girl has made her life hell since a young age. There was no way Shen Bai was just going to let things go as is. She would find a way to make everything she said true to revive her reputation and make her the scapegoat. It wouldn't be the first time this had happened, either.

"Let's forget about her. Xiaxia, what do you want to eat?" Quan Xinya asked. She didn't want to dwell on the cheap woman anymore. Any tricks she tries will be dealt with as they come.

"Meat! The more, the better..." Shen Xia's eyes lit up. She had been having a strong craving for meat ever since her change.

Quan Xinya saw the drool forming at the corner of Shen Xia's lip and let out a laugh. "Alright, suck it back in. We will get lots of meat then."

The two entered the cafeteria under the watchful eyes of everyone else. Shen Xia kept her head lowered as she walked next to Quan Xinya. This was mainly out of habit since she was always bullied. As they walked between the tables leading the counter, one of the boys stuck his leg out to trip Shen Xia. Shen Xia did not even look at him as she stepped on his leg with all her weight causing the boy to yell out in pain. "Shen Xia!"

"Hmm?" Shen Xia turned her head and looked at the boy. As soon as he saw her face, he shut right up. He was stunned by her beauty. He felt there was something about her that made him think that anything she did was perfectly fine.

"Ahem… Sorry, I was not paying attention and stuck my leg out, which made you almost hurt your foot while stepping on me. " The boy rubbed his head and blushed as he suddenly apologized.

Shen Xia stared at the boy like he had ten heads before replying: "Uh… Okay..." and then walking off.

"What was that about?" Quan Xinya asked.

"Not sure?" Shen Xia had not even realized she had stepped on him. She had done so out of instinct.

The girls ended up having a peaceful lunch other than the few stares they got. It was not until they went back to the classroom that they got a real surprise. Standing at the front of the class talking with the form teacher was a red headed girl. Quan Xinya stuck her neck out, trying to get a good look at her, only to receive a pinch in the side from Shen Xia instead. "Don't be rude."

"What, I was just looking!" Quan Xinya complained. But she did not have Shen Xia's senses. Shen Xia could smell that this girl was similar to that man she met that day. This made her instantly wary of her. She was not sensing danger like before, but she still had a strange sense of caution.

"You wouldn't want people checking you out, right? It would make you feel uncomfortable, right?" Shen Xia asked.

"Okay! Geez, why do you need to act like a mom all of a sudden." Quan Xinya pouted as she sat down. Shen Xia chuckled and sat down as well. But in truth, she was nervous of this new girl and did not want Quan Xinya getting into a fight with her. Especially because of her scent.

As the rest of the students came into the classroom, they all took peeks at the red headed girl standing at the front of the class. "Alright, everyone, quiet down. We have a new student today. Go ahead and introduce yourself."

The red headed girl nodded before turning around, finally allowing everyone to see her face. Gasps were heard from the students in the room as they gazed upon the girl's beautiful face. The girl smiled and began introducing herself: "My name is Lilith O'Heyne. As you can see, I am a foreigner, but my Chinese is very good. I came to China due to my father's work and will probably end up going to college here as well."

The girl's red hair that was like flames, swayed gently from the breeze blowing in through the window. Her eyes glimmered like green jade. She had a fair complexion, and her cheeks were lightly dusted with freckles. Adding in a set of red lips that were slightly curled up into a smile, all the boys began to feel as if their hearts were being stolen.

"Good, then, Miss O'heyne, please take a seat next to Dia Na." Mr. Huang pointed to a seat next to Dai Na.

Lilith sneered inside her heart. If it was not for her master telling her to act like a normal high school girl, she would not need to listen to this human. Only her Master and Mistress should be able to order her around! Feeling gloomy, Lilith walked to the desk she was assigned to and sat down. She turned to look at Shen Xia, ignoring Quan Xinya and Dia Na entirely. The light that reflected off her eyes brought out a reddish hue from within them.

Shen Xia looked at the girl who was looking back at her. She felt no malice coming from this girl but more of an reverence feeling coming off of her? It was hard to describe the feeling she got from Lilith. Shen Xia thought for a moment before deciding it was best to make friends then enemies. She reached out her hand towards Lilith and said: "It is nice to meet you, my name is Shen Xia...."
