11 Finding a Job

In this game you have to find the quests yourself, there is no minimap to show you who to talk to or where to go so you have to explore and find new paths to make your game interesting. Due to his status as Savior of Volta Wind Village and the +50% affinity to NPC's it was easier for him to talk to them.

The problem with others was that they didn't take the NPC's as real people so in actuality the NPC's attitude towards players was less and less friendly. Wu Tian had been making money and cultivating for a week in real life, he has amassed 30 gold coins, 200 Silver Coins, and 500 Bronze coins. Which converted to US Dollars equals 5,100. In real life, this meant he earnt more than an average person but he knew in Heaven's Reach the 3 pillars of power were skill, connections, and money. Right now Wu Tian only had the skill and if he could get the money he then can get connections.

As Wu Tian's cultivation grew, he knew he needed money to buy some good equipment for future quests. Wu Tian remembered that as a Cultivator he could get mastery in any job. Normally since swordsmen or shieldmen would get jobs as forgers and blacksmiths due to their strength, mages would get jobs like alchemy due to their high intelligence, and thieves could get jobs as cooks due to their delicate hands. But Wu Tian was a cultivator that was an all-rounder, he had high intelligence and strength as well as dexterity.

One of the decisions that this game took that set it apart from the rest was it abandoning the stat system. The developers early said that the stat system caused peoples immersion to the game to break as they would open up the menu too often distributing the points and doing other things. The point of this game was to be as immerse and as realistic they could be in a fantasy game and wanted people to casually glance at the screen before going back into the game. So the way strength points can grow is by a person actually doing physical activity like swinging a sword, or doing push-ups, or even jumping jacks could raise strength. But you don't have a number defining your strength meaning that you yourself would need to learn how much strength you have compared to your enemy. Similar to real life, You won't have a stat screen to see how powerful you are compared to an enemy.

Wu Tian wanted to find a stable job and the one he was most interested in was blacksmiths. He would be allowed to make money anywhere with a furnace and anvil and his reputation among NPC's would rise. In the game, there were portable furnaces and anvils as well which you could keep in the pocket and when you place it down it would grow, right now it is 1500 gold coins in the auction house.

He finally found a blacksmith shop but it was surprisingly barren. After walking in he saw an old man sitting on a chair next to the furnace with a beer bottle in his hands, the room was completely tossed over swords and armor were scattered across the floor. Wu Tian was confused about what was going on so he walked up to the old man and asked: "What happened here is everything okay?"

The old man was startled as he looked up at the young man in front of him. The old man for no reason suddenly go aggressive "You, are you with those people... you are probably pulling a joke on me after you destroyed everything. Get out now, why aren't you don't with your sick joke."

Wu Tian the situation and everything started to make sense, Wu Tian's voice got serious and he asked: "Who destroyed your smithy?" Wu Tian was a martial artist, and the code of a martial artist was if the weak are in need to your help, you must help them.

The old man looked at Wu Tian and he realized that this kid had nothing to do with those people "I am sorry, my name is Khan and I am the local blacksmith. I usually participated in the Twilight Blacksmith competition and the prize is the right to make weapons for the city lord, but suddenly these people started to mess with my shop, at first it was little things like loitering or vandalizing but later they started intercepting my weapons and stealing them, next thing they did was steal and kill my disciples and in the end they came here and destroyed almost everything except 2 furnaces and 2 anvils. They even broke my arm so I can't participate in the blacksmith competition in 2 months."

Mission: Become Khan's disciple to get mastery in blacksmithing and win the Twilight Blacksmith Competition for Khan's in 2 months,

rewards: blacksmith mastery and hidden 1st job quest

failure: removal of blacksmith mastery and removal of 1 random skill

Wu Tian looked at the mission, the penalty would set him back a lot but he knew if he passed the hidden job quest would be good. There were the hidden classes and hidden jobs, hidden classes related to combat while hidden jobs were noncombat related.

Wu Tian nodded his head and said: "Khan, I will become your disciple and win the blacksmith competition!"
