Chapter 178 - 178 - The Red Lotus Bloom

Liwei walked back into the house, gritting his teeth loudly. Even now he noticed Fan Xui sticking to that young man as they walked away.

"This has to end.... but how.... I don't have any ability...." he caressed his pink cheeks.

The reaction he got from Fan Xui was unexpected. But it was okay for now.

This act was to sow a seed of doubt in Fan Xui's mind about that girly man.

"Fuck it hurts though..." he glanced at his reflection on a bowl with a glare. "I hate it.... I hate it so much!" he let out his hands by tearing all the tapes he had placed on the counter.

By chance, Liwei noticed the take-out boxes on the counter.

"Most likely will be moldy bread. I have more stock than anyone..." he whispered, removing the three boxes inside.

One had picked kimchi, the next one had steamed rice that was a well season with furikake, the last one....

It had chicken!

"How do they have chicken? It's been a month. The electricity is out... the supplies should have rotted by now...."

He could only come to only one conclusion.

This guy's house had supplies.

The anxiety in his heart disappeared in an instant. Sitting down, he ate the food with relish.

"Girly men are going to be screwed.... just you watch what I'm going to do to your smug face~" he giggled as a twisted plan formed in his mind.

Unknown of a danger that was lurking so close Zou Wei and Zou Nui happily hummed as they danced around.

Just a step in and his wife tripped on a pea stalk.

"I think we need to clear out the vines off the floor. How do you suppose we do that without killing the plant?"

Zou Nui chuckled cupping her husband's face. "Not sure, let's wait for Yue to come home. He might have an idea what to do.."

A small chirping sound was heard. Glancing down, she saw all the four quails, and the chicken was standing by her foot happily roaming around.

"It's a pity we lost so many..."

"It really is. But thankfully nothing happened to Trexa... I don't know how Yue would have reacted to that," Zou Wei said, glancing at the solitary grey fur that was sitting by the pond. "I hope he doesn't jump in with the way he is looking at it,"'

"I think he is looking for something in there," she said walking towards her. "Little Trexa?"

Trexa cutely waved at them.

"Is there something in the water?"

Trexa nodded enthusiastically. She pointed to something squeaking and trilling in happiness.

"What is she saying now, rat whisperer," he kissed his wife's cheeks.

Zou Nui glared at him slightly. "There is something in there. That's for sure...." she leaned forward peering into the murky water. Subtly she saw something green underneath.

"Honey, didn't we clear out the lotus roots?"

"We did,"

"See right there. I see a lotus shoot," she pointed to the water.

Trexa instantly jumped up high squeaking excitedly.

"Aw, Trexa, are you waiting for the plant to grow?"

She nodded cutely, rushing into her hands. "Squeak~~"

Zou Nui wordlessly glanced at her husband.

"What?"

"She has been waiting for it to bloom for a long time..."

"So?"

"Can you make it bloom for me please...." she tilted her head and blinked at him cutely.

Trexa glanced at her gestures and mimicked it, blinking just as she did.

"Gosh seriously, fine it's just a lotus. We'll have lotus roots for today,"

"Yeah~" Zou Nui kissed Trexa's little head and hugged her close to her chest. "Grandpa is going to make the lotus bloom for you. Are you happy?"

"SQUEAK~~~" came the loud reply.

Watching his wife's expectant face Zou Wei slightly blushed. "Great, I'm a rat grandpa now…..I don't think I will be a grandpa ever. I guess only that rat can call me so.."

"What do you mean by that? Yue can always adopt and Tian is still there. She can have a child,"

Zou Wei glanced at her with his brows raised. "How can two girls have a child?"

"Two girls? What are you saying?"

"Juda and Tian? You didn't know?"

His wife gasped loudly with a comical look on her face. "W-when? I didn't know. I thought they were besties!"

"Well, they are an item. Forget about grandchildren, I guess adopted children will also be considered our family..." he slowly said touching the water surface.

His powers were not that strong. He could not control the plant from a distance at least he needs to have physical contact with them to grow up.

Sighing, he removed his shirt and got into the deep pond.

"Careful," his wife smiled at him waving little Trexa's hand.

Swimming just a foot in he could feel the root systems get tangled on his legs. He simply pulled one such root up and touched it, injecting his powers.

The roots grew longer and wide, Growing beautiful jade-like new shoots. The shoots popped up, spreading their beautiful jade-like leaves on the surface.

Zou Nui, who was watching this, noticed a small change. "Honey, can you come up here?"

"Why? It will bloom in a while,"

"No just come up here?" she hurried him.

Sighing, Zou Wei climbed out wiping his wet hands on the ground. "What is it?"

"I see red...." she pulled one of the leaves and turned it over. the backside of it was fully covered with small red veins. "I think this plant mutated. Should we get rid of it?"

Zou Wei panicked slightly. "Don't touch it.... it might be poisonous. Lest go wash out hands." he hurriedly took his wife away.

"Squeak!!" Trexa sadly watched them leave. Her small black beady eyes fell on the roots that were slowly climbing up onto the surface. It seems to be picking up the grey dust from the soil and dipping back into the water... "Squeak...."

A heavenly smell spread from the water.

Trexa excitedly watched the leaves multiply. A small bright red flower bud broke through the surface standing straight.

"Squeak!!" she happily jumped around.

But soon her excitement went down. The flower did not bloom.

Trexa ran throughout the garden, collecting all the grey dust in its small paws. She poured it into the water. Yet still, the blood-red lotus did not bloom.

"Squeak..." she slumped down onto the ground kicking the soil.

"Trexa, I've got you some snacks. Come on now. That plant is dangerous," Zou Nui ran back and picked her up.

This time Trexa did not put up a fight. She sadly hugged her thumb, sniffing.

"Are you crying? Aw baby, it's just a flower. I'll ask Yue to bring you some on his way back okay, now cheer up its snack time,"

She placed him on the counter and took out some cheese crackers.

Trexa's ears slightly twisted at the sound of the plastic wrapper crinkling yet still she did not look up.

"Here, have some. Or else I will feed it to the chicken and cat," she said in a jolly Tone waving the cracker around at the chicken and quail at her feet. Even Blackie, who was resting by the sofa, sat up eagerly watching the cracker.

Trexa looked up, sighing.

The chicken on the other hand lost its patience. It jumped up high flapping its flightless wings.

Before its beak can get a hold of it, Trexa instantly hoped over and plucked the cracker from her hands, hugging it tightly.

Bakbak glared at her intensely.

"No fighting. There is more for everyone." Zou Nui took out a few more crackers and fed the chicken and the cat.

Blackie just licked it once and did not bother to eat it.

The quails on the other hand were more than happy to eat its leftovers.

Watching them happily eta Zou Nui leaned against the counter sighing... "I never thought about it... do you think Yue will ever want a child? Chances of Tian having a child are very low..... will I really not have a grandchild... it's sad really."

She gently caressed Trexa's puffed cheeks. "Eat slowly,"

Trexa glanced up with a cute smile on her face. Suddenly she threw the cracker down and ran towards the upper shelves. Her huge body made it difficult to climb up easily.

"Careful," Zou Nui helped her by supporting her round butt.

Trexa rushed into one of the counters and came back with a black rock in her mouth. Her tail was wagging around excitedly. Even her small eyes were shimmering.

"What is that? Why do we have a rock in here?" Nui took it from her and examined it. it was just a normal rock that was very uneven and rough. "Don't bite into it okay, your teeth might break. It's just a toy, not food,"

Trexa obediently nodded and took it from her.

She happily jumped off the counter and ran to the pond.

With her small paws, she smashed the rock against the ground.

"She looks like a round ball of fluff….." she happily hummed and walked back to the kitchen.

Trexa took the broken shards and tossed them into the water.

Slowly the lotus bloomed casting a bright red light. Right in front of her eyes, the lotus started to wilt leaving behind a small seed pod with six seeds.

"Squeak..... Squeak..." with her small paws she tried to reach it. But she could not.

Trembling she looked at the water. "S—squeak....."

A huge shadow suddenly covered her small figure. Startled, Trexa glanced back.

Blackie came close and gently licked her head.

Trexa hissed at her and swatted her away. But the huge cat remained unmoving. The little rat continued pushing it with all its might.

"Meow..." Blackie hugged her close with her paws and continued licking her.

Poor Trexa was licked until its grey fur stood up raggedly.

"Squeak!!" Trexa just punched her fat tummy.

Blackie just huffed and sat down, hugging her close.

"Screech..." Trexa pushed her heavy paws off, pointing to the dried up lotus pod. She continued showing her frustration at the cat by punching its flexible skin.

Blackie just cocked her head to the side. "Meow?" with her long tail, she snapped the dried lotus pod and handed it as a prize to Trexa.

"Squeak~~~~" Trexa happily hugged it.
