Zou Yue silently glanced at the ground as he sorted out the things. The glove was torn, but a part of it was still clinging to his hands. He cut up, rolled it along with the soiled tissues, and tossed it into the nearby trash can.
All his action was robotic as his mind was completely filed by the thought of guilt.
Guilt that he had betrayed a person's trust.
He portrayed as a female and did some stuff with a blind person.
'I lied to him!....' sighing, he stood up and walked over to his bag.
Fan Xui was watching all this with a confused look. 'did I do something wrong? I definitely saw the look of regret there? Maybe he was grossed out by that....'
"Listen... Yue what we did... it's..."
"We don't have much time. We have to leave this building and meet up with my friends soon. Get dressed, please." He whispered without glancing back.
'I knew it! He hated it....' he sighed loudly as he wore his pants up.
His eyes lingered on his slumped back. He had a feeling that if he didn't do something right now, he might lose this person completely to an unwarranted mistake.
He gripped onto the armrest and slowly got up. His legs trembled violently.
Using the chair as a support, he slowly walked a few steps, getting closer to his squatting back. "Yue."
"We'll talk later if you want," he glanced back to him standing over him. "Whoa, what are you doing up?" he hurriedly got up and supported him by gripping his underarm. "Your legs still need time. Don't hurry before that, you might hurt yourself."
"We really need to talk about what just happened,"
"We don't have time," Yue anxiously whispered. As he tried to support Fan back to the chair, their legs got tangled up.
The whole world tilted in slow motion. Eyes wide open, Yue glanced up at Fan.
Fan instantly placed a hand under his head and his back, supporting him from the fall. "You okay?"
"Yeah... get up please...." Yue wiggled under him with a nervous look. Fan's hands caged him from both sides. he feared that pushing him away will hurt him badly. He placed a hand on Fan's waist, lifting him off him slightly.
"I'm not going to..." Fan Xui peered down at the young man, who refused to look his way. "At least look at me..."
Yue slowly looked at him with a small pout. "You can't even see me.. How do you know if I'm looking or not?"
Suddenly, the door banged open and a figure swiftly moved to them.
Yue was in complete shock. He could not move from under him, and Fan Xui looked like he did not care about this threat at all.
"Fan! Move,"
A barrel appeared, pointing towards Fan's eyebrows.
Yue glanced up in shock. "Hary..."
Hary yanked Fan off, threw him down. "You okay?"
"Hary.." Yue jumped up and hugged him tight. "Are you hurt anywhere?" he worriedly touched his blood stains on his cheek.
"I'm good." Hary chuckled, hugging him as tight as possible.
"Where's Tian?"
"She is waiting at the end of the corridor."
"Oh, thank god.." Yue sighed, smiling widely. "I was so scared for her."
"Get ready Yue, we have to leave soon. I'll take that 'luggage' with me," he whispered, nudging the gun's barrel at Fan's forehead.
He smacked the gun away from his face. "I'm not luggage,"
"You are just a potato sack to me." the man smilingly whispered back.
Fan Xui glared at him coldly. His eyes lingered on the pale hands that were hugging Yue tight. 'How does he know him? Why are they so close? God, I want to rip that hand out...'
The person in front of him was the ruthless leader of the blazing roses.
After years of apocalypse, a few ability users rose in power challenging the settlement's rights. One of such group was the blazing roses. It grew in power in the northern region of G city, hiding its true face for a long time.
For a long time, this group was a mystery. No one knew who the leader of this mysterious gang or who the members were. But each one was rumoured to be as powerful as he was.
Unlike the other groups who hid their nasty intensions in the shadows. This group plainly portrayed its intent but infiltrating the other subgroups in the settlement.
This induced so much discord.
Fan Xui peered at the glaring blue eyes with a small frown.
These infiltrations did not cause much personnel damage or robbery. They just infiltrated for fun.
Or so it seems.
All these years it seemed like this group had been searching for something... or someone. It seemed almost desperate.
Fan Xui tried to track them down, but it was to no avail.
Their identity remained a well hid secret.
But that was until that event.
The robbery at the Wen mansion. Qian's father lost a very important document just a few weeks before his the terrible blast.
After that, the whole group seemed to have disappeared. Their activities seized, and they stopped causing problems.
It had been a huge relief to him.
Right after that, he met his little stalker and met his demise at the hands of his stalker's doppelganger.
'Fate is mysterious indeed...'
The sound of footsteps outside seemed to have increased a lot.
"Yue, take your bags," Hary placed Yue down and ushered him to hurry.
Yue rushed to the backpack and wore it on his back.
Hary, on the other hand, squatted down in front of Fan with a kind smile. "You bastard.... you couldn't keep your hands to yourself, couldn't you...." he mumbled under his breath.
His mouth was smiling, but his eyes were shooting laser beams at him.
Fan Xui chuckled sarcastically. "Why would you care about that, huh? It's none of your business." He ever so softly whispered.
Yue somehow noticed the tension between them. "Hary, I'll take Fan, can you take my bags with you?,"
Hary just wordlessly glared down at him. "This potato sack looks heavy,"
"My strength ability can deal with him.." he pulled Fan up over his back in a piggyback ride. Now that Fan was able to use his arms well, he could hold on much easier. "Let's go.."
They rushed out of there slicing the zombies that came tether way. Occasionally they hid behind open doors of the corners.
The zombies seemed more preoccupied as they rushed to the other side of the corridor.
Yue pulled Hary down to his height. "You said Tian was there, right?"
"Hmm... she plans to take them all out in one go," He whispered back, gently caressing his cheeks.
Yue smacked his hands away. "She can't use her ability for more than three times a day." He worriedly glanced at the zombies.
"She said she can. So I trust her. Just stay close to me." Hary pulled Yue closer by hugging his shoulders.
A hand gently pushed his hands away.
Hary glanced down to see a sparkling purple eyes glaring at him intensely.
"Can we just throw him away?"
Yue glanced at him in shock. "We can't do that, of course,"
"Just joking," Hary chuckled playfully.
Fan Xui snorted, nuzzling into Yue's neck. 'The rumours about him were true. He is a two faced monster with a face of an angel.'
He had been privy to these rumours before through Qian.
This particular gang leader was considered an eye candy. He could charm anyone with just his charisma.
After his portrait got out as the gang leader of the blazing roses, his fame skyrocketed. Men and woman swooned over him.
'I don't see what is worth swooning over. He is nothing but a fox. Hump...'
Hary showed him the middle finger and hugged Yue's waist. "Let's go." He pulled them away from the secluded corner into the zombie infested corridor.
Yue swiftly took out his sword and started fighting them.
Hary stood back to back and fought with his army knife.
Occasionally Fan Xui got involved in taking care of zombies who slipped into their defences.
"Hary... what about Tian!" Yue shouted, kicking away and zombie dressed up in nurse garments.
"Wait for her signal. We can't get too close or else we might get burned as well."
"Won't your metal work?"
Hary glanced down at his leg. The metal leg had reduced to a skeleton. He had used most of his metal to shield Tian and his body. He did not even have enough for Yue.
Fan Xui noticed his legs with a slight frown. 'Metallic bones..... he has metal skin, huh...'
This was a unique ability. Metal skin, as Qian called it.
It was not like that of a metal ability user who can manipulate any metal.
A part of the ability user's body turns into a strange variation of metal. Stronger than titanium, flexible as silk. It can be used for many, many purposes. Its basic use was discovered to be fire proofing.
The other uses of it were still unknown because this ability was not that widely researched or widely spread in humans.
A sudden loud whistle rang in the corridor.
"That is our signal. Yue get close!"
