The surgery went very well. Tian's head was sewed up well and there were only three stitches visible in her hairline.
"She is out of the woods."
Yue let out a deep breath of relief. "We'll leave by morning...."
"Wait what?" Juda gazed at him in complete shock. "You can't do that...she just had a surgery,"
"She is out of danger, right?"
"Yes... but..."
"We are leaving," Yue sternly said.
"Yue, what's going on? Why are you in such a hurry?.."
Yue flinched slightly. "We have to get home. She can get better there,"
"I won't allow you to do that," Juda stood in front of him with a glare. "She needs rest. I don't care what you think, but you need to give her time,"
He simply peered at her. "She can get better at home... she can..."
"She will get better when you give her time to rest. Yue if we travel now there is a high chance for her wound to get infected."
Yue flinched. "You said she is out of the woods."
"Yes, for now! You can't just push her to travel,"
Yue backed away, holding his head. "Trexa can help her. That wound it will scar...."
"It's just a scar."
"But Tian is a girl..."
"We don't hate scars. Especially Tian does not look like a girl that cares about that," Juda assured him.
Yue nodded. "We'll change houses... this door is not operational...." he walked out mumbling something.
Juda worriedly looked at him. "Who is Trexa?"
"Maybe a girlfriend?" Lui shrugged.
Juda gasped. "So I had no chance? That's so sad. I finally found a good guy, but he turned out to be unavailable,"
"You can still steal him," Lui wiggled her brows.
"Nope, that's not my style. I'd rather search for a new guy than to cling onto a man in relationship," Juda flipped her hair in style.
"Jeez..."
Just as planned, they stayed in y city for a few days.
Tian woke up the next day itself. But she was fully disoriented from the pain. She still kept asking for Yue.
Yue sat beside her and kept her company whilst she slept.
Seeing this, Juda sighed softly. "Such a great man... such a pity,'
"Stop it. There are more fish in the sea."
Juda just scowled. "The ocean is polluted. The fishes are dying. There are no better fish in the sea," she grumbled loudly.
Tian suddenly laughed out loud. She opened her eyes secretly. "She wants fish~ hahaha..." she woozily held Yue's hand.
"is she supposed to be this high?"
Juda nodded. "I gave a small dose of pain killers. Didn't expect her to be so cute..." she sat next to him on the bed. "Hey Tian, what is my name?"
"Juda.." Tian sweetly smiled at her.
"aw so cute. Say that again.. I wish I can record it..."
Yue just blinked. "She is not a two-year-old. She can speak very well,"
"I know, but this girl refuses to call out my name. I have t have proof that she did." Juda giggled evilly. She handed a paper to Tian. "Write I love Juda so much~"
Tian blinked. "I loke you?"
"Yes, you love me so much." Juda giggled.
Tian nodded. "Okay, I love you so much," with her unsteady hands she wrote down the words. The letter came out crooked and flawed, but Juda seemed ecstatic having it.
Yue sighed. "Juda..... you are so evil,"
"I know, right. I am half angel and half demon. I think it's a good combination." Juda happily held the piece of paper. "Now Tian, why don't you kiss me hmm..."
Tian sweetly smiled. "okay,"
"Juda!"
"What, I'm not a guy. There is no need to be protective..." suddenly someone grabbed her face and a soft thing touched her lips.
Juda blinked, she dazedly watched Tian's face that was so close to her.
"Kissy kiss..."
Yue gasped. "Okay, that's enough, both of you," he pulled Tian off if her and arranged the sheet over her shoulders. "Tian, you shouldn't kiss just anyone. No kissy kiss. Not even girls."
"Why not?"
"It's.... I don't know. Kiss them when you are sober,"
"I am sober....." her tongue twisted.
Yue sighed. "You are so cute when you are sober, though. Give me a hug,"
"Okay~" Tian happily hugged his shoulders. "Hug you.." she suddenly pointed at Juda.
Juda, who was frozen in shock, woke up. "Huh... I..."
"Hug..." Tian held her hands out.
"oh... o-okay..." Juda stiffly moved close.
Tian dragged her closer and hugged her tight. "hug...."
Juda gulped loudly. "Yue.... help.." she glanced at Tian's soft pink lips. 'I think I'm in love,' she mentally screamed.
"Oh, my goodness." Lui exclaimed from the doorway. "Juda... not again!"
Yue looked confused by their exchange. "What is it?"
"Nothing. Juda is being a silly goose. The rice is ready. Why don't we go eat? Juda, go get the food," Lui ushered her out.
Juda dazedly watched Tian as she was dragged out of the room.
Zou Yue was super confused. "Hey Tian... why did you kiss her?" he whispered close to her ear.
"Kissy kissy? She asked for it..." she mumbled sleepily.
"oh..."
His overworking mind rested a bit. 'it must be because she is high now...' he thought to himself, nodding.
"Yue! Can you bring some eggs?" Lui shouted from the kitchen.
"Okay,"
The new house they were staying in came with green pastures and farm. The farm animals had mostly escaped, but a single broody chicken stayed behind. It laid eggs almost every day.
Yue was more than happy to collect them.
Entering the coup, he looked around. That single fluffy white chicken instantly peered at him.
"hey...." he moved closer. The chicken bit his shoes angrily. "Sorry chicken, but I might need your eggs.." he pushed it off a bit.
But there was no egg there. Usually this chicken would lay a single egg and protect it with its life but.....
'Where did the egg go?'
"Did you not lay today?"
The chicken clucked loudly, biting his shoelace ferociously.
"You must have not laid..." he shook his head and walked out disappointed.
The chicken kept clucking, watching him with its beady eyes.
"Hey don't be angry and come at me, okay. I'm just doing what your previous owner did,"
The chicken stood up and charged at him.
"Yeah, you hate your eggs being stolen. Sorry, well leave by tomorrow."
He closed the coup and walked back to the house empty-handed.
"Where is the egg?"
"No eggs today," he shrugged.
"That's so odd. That chicken was laying every day without fail." She mumbled, mixing the furikake into the cooked rice.
"I know, right. It's too suspicious. Do you think someone is stealing the eggs?,"
Juda came by with the utensils. "It's possible. Why don't I stay guard tonight? I'll see who that thief is,"
"Okay, but be safe, okay,"
These past few days, Yue and Lui had been on guard every night in case there was an instruction. Juda was in charge of taking care of Tian.
"Yesterday was my turn. How could I miss that so-called thief," Lui, mumbled chewing on a spoon full of rice.
"Maybe it was not human, it might be a bobcat," Yue whispered, taking two bowls with him. "Ah, I forgot to mention. Tian's sounds have healed very well. We shall start our journey tomorrow, so Juda, you better rest up,"
"Should I stop her painkillers?"
Yue froze. "Will... she be in too much pain?"
"No, and yes. She will be in pain, but it will be tolerable."
Zou Yue bit his lips anxiously. "We really have to leave soon...." the longer they stayed there higher the risk of the escapee humans spotting them.
And he also had another reason.
The second meteor might come in any day. He did not want to be on the road when that happened.
"Fine, I'll take care of her. If she is in pain, I will help out," Juda whispered softly.
Yue let out a breath of relief. "Thank you,"
"I'll go pack our bags after eating," he took the two bowls if rice to Tian's room. He gently shook her awake and fed her rice.
Like a little baby, she ate with relish.
"We will be on the road tomorrow. Will... you be okay?"
Tian nodded. "I'm good,"
"Then that's all that matters." Yue smiled softly.
A finger gently poked his cheeks. "Chubby,"
"Hey don't diss me. I lost some weight recently,"
"No, chubby cheeks...."
"Goodness, you are so adorable," he hugged her softly. "I—I was so scared that I would lose you, Tian. I'm still scared. What will happen if you are not there? I don't think I can live on..."
When Tian was hurt he lost all rationality. He killed so many that even now it did not register in his mind.
"They all appear faceless.... they all do. I don't feel any compassion now. I'm so scared. What if I become a monster myself." he whispered, nuzzling against her neck.
"You are warm so you are human." She whispered in a childlike voice.
Yue chuckled. "If you think so, that's all that matters,"
Juda watched them from the doorway silently. She had once heard the saying, 'either you die a hero or else you would have to watch yourself become the villain.'
Poor Yue was in that state. He is on the verge of losing everything.
His rationality was on the brink of breaking.
'I hope he can hold on to his humanity.' she peered at the siblings. "Only Tian can help him......'
