Chapter 124 - 124 - Space~

2 days later:

Yue silently peered out the bathroom window. There were no zombies out there. It was just weirdly quiet.

It was the type of quiet that hid a deeper danger.

Distracted, He tore a small tissue into four parts and used the smallest one to wipe his hands.

'It's been two days. Look how much things have changed,'

The baby zombie had already eaten most of the zombies in the street and it migrated towards the meteor crash site just last night.

There was no sight of it anywhere nearby. Either it gave up on them or went towards a tastier target.

Either way, they were out of the woods.

"Guys, I think we can..." he walked out of the bathroom excitedly.

"Hmm, wait a bit, do a roundhouse kick,"

"haiya!" Juda kicked high, but it was not able to reach Tian's raised hands.

"That was a weak kick. Try again,"

Yue watched them with a small smile. Right after they came here, Juda started to train kickboxing with Tian. Seeing them so dedicated, Lui did not want to lag behind. she exercising her leg muscles.

He did train a bit, but he was more focused on making a long-range weapon other than gun.

"I think we can leave," he whispered, glancing out.

They all looked at him with pure joy.

"Really!" Juda ran to the window and looked out. 'it ready went away! Oh, my god we can finally...leave"

"Yes, this is our only chance to leave. Tian, get ready, well go pick up the motorbikes,"

Before he could even finish his sentence, his sister had worn her coat and pulled on her gun bag. "Already on it,"

"Jeez, you are so fast," he ran to the bedroom and changed into a plain black t-shirt and leather jacket he found in the house. He tied his long hair in a pony tail keeping all the hair away from his face.

Juda peaked in. "Yue..... you.. you are coming back, right?" she whispered softly.

He paused whatever he was doing to give her his undivided attention. "What makes you think that?"

"It's just that... I have been... useless. I don't know how to throw a punch or kick someone. I don't know how to shoot. Hell, I didn't even know how to run away." She held her head, sighing loudly.

"hey," Yue pulled her hand away peering into her shimmering tear-filled eyes. "You are not useless. You saved Tian's life, remember. You made that shot!"

"t-that was just luck," she wiped her tears away.

"Luck or not, you helped. That's what matters. Wipe your tear away. They don't suit a pretty girl like you," Yue tapped her chin softly.

Juda giggled. "You.... are you interested in..." she hesitated, fidgeting with her sleeve.

Yue looked at her, waiting for her.

"Nothing. Never mind... come back safe," she hugged him tight and kissed his cheeks.

"Definitely," Yue chuckled and waved at her.

Tian just gave him a weird look and looked back at Juda. "You got your guns?"

"Yeah," he nudged her arms. "This time, I loaded the bullets correctly. Ah it's all thanks to my lovely, adorable master."

"Shut up," Tian pushed him away playfully. "The store is a few streets away. We can go through the way we went in, through the clinic. Ray might still be there. Maybe we can warn him about that baby thing. God that was creepy..." she noticed him looking at her face unblinking. "What?"

"I've never seen you talking so much. Wow, sorry didn't mean to interrupt please continue," he smirked widely.

"annoying." Tian rolled her eyes. "Don't get too close,"

"Am I still dirty?" Yue sniffed his pits. "I don't stink though,"

Tian just scowled. "You did not wash your hands after peeing."

"Hey! I wiped it with a wet towel. We have to conserve water!"

"a small piece of toilet tissue is not going to cut it," she grumbled, opening the door.

Yue glanced back at the two. "Pack and be ready, sty by the window. When you see us run down, yes,"

Juda smiled and nodded. "Wait," she gave him a small knife. "I sharpened it myself,"

"Thanks,... hey wait up!" he whisper shouted, running after Tian.

Lui watched Juda close the door after them. "Say.... you are not interested in Yue, are you?"

Juda refused to look at her.

"Juda."

"It's just a harmless crush,"

"He obviously doesn't feel that was about you." Lui frowned.

"he might.... not now. But later on,"

Lui sighed. Her friend had always been this way. Easy to fall in love and easy to get hurt. Not only that, her soft personality made it so easy for her ex's to bully and abuse her. 'Yue really doesn't seem to be interested in girls, though. How can I make her understand that?..'

"His dressing doesn't bother you," she gingerly tried to approach that subject.

"He is cute! I have never seen a guy pull off a girls' top and pants so well," Juda blushed, twirling around giddily.

'oh lord she is in deep,' Lui held her hand. "Have you for once thought that maybe he might not be interested in women...."

Juda froze. "He might like men? Well... it's alright. He can love whoever wants. I can still have feelings for him. ill get the dished done and packed." she hopped over to the kitchen.

"this is not going to end well." Lui sighed, following after her.

The stoves were easily packed into Juda's bag. There were only a few fuel blocks left. 'We might need to start fires with paper or something..' Lui thought, playing with the two fuel infused blocks.

She peered up at Juda, who was cleaning the old pots silently. "Hey.... about that thing earlier."

"What thing?"

"In that apartment..... That thing disappeared. Is that maybe your power?"

Juda glanced at her with her brows raised. 'I don't know what you are talking about,"

"I'm talking about that poptart box. It was clearly on the counter, but just as your finger touched it disappeared,"

"Oh, I didn't see that." she flinched slightly.

"Juda...."

"Lui, I don't have any powers like that. You read the second volume of that book series, space ability is too rare." Juda hummed softly as she wiped down the wet pan.

Lui just looked at her with an unknown look. "When did you start keeping secrets from me?"

Juda just closed her eyes tightly. "I'm not keeping any secrets."

"Then why are you denying it. I saw it! With my own two eyes. I saw it!"

"Yes, so what? I... I don't want to use that power," Juda just left the kitchen shaking her head.

Lui did not give up just yet. She needed to know. "Why not?"

"just.... I don't want to." She started to whimper softly.

Lui pulled her panicked friend over to the sofa, gently patting her back. "I'm sorry. I'm sorry, please don't cry..."

"I'm so scarred Lui. This ability, it's so weak. I heard Yue utter that. He thinks it's such a useless ability..." she sniffed.

Lui blinked. "So you hid your powers just because a guy said so?"

"Technically, yes, but... also, I hid it for my safety. There are not many space ability users. What if other groups found out about my powers and wanted to kidnap me? I don't have any ability to protect myself. Plus, I will be putting you guys in danger as well. It's not what I want,"

Lui gently hugged her and rocked her side to side. "Well.... the others won't know about your powers. Only Yue and Tian will. Plus, your powers could really be of use. Imagine how much things we can take along with us with your powers?"

Juda wiped her nose with a thoughtful look. "yeah.... why do I suddenly feel stupid for hiding my ability?"

"You are silly sometimes."

Juda pouted. "Fine I am silly."

A small clatter near the window disrupted their conversation.

Lui gestured for Juda to stay and slowly moved to the window. Outside, Yue and Tian stood there with two motorbikes waving vigorously.

Juda and Lui pulled the bags over their shoulders and ran down the stairs. No zombies were in sight, only a dozen of corpses littered on the stars.

They hopped and trampled over them to reach below.

Right after they exited, Lui and Juda ran straight to the bikes.

It was a pizza delivery vehicle that had a box attacked to it. "We have to adjust to this," Tian sat gestured for Yue to sit behind her.

Tian wore her shades. "Lui, follow behind me. I'll lead us out of the city towards the rural areas,"

Juda watched her with a small pout.

"Get on," Lui pulled her slightly.

Juda hoped on the back holding the numerous bags.

"I'll keep one up front." Lui pulled a small bag with rice to the front giving her comfortable space to sit on the takeout box.

"Let's get going..."

"Yes.... hope we survive this journey," Yue whispered, clenching his gun.
