The car drove through the city and into the outskirts of the town. This area was actually the other side of the military residence he got the house in. So this area also became the human settlement in the future.
They stopped in front of a flashy mansion. After verifying their identity through the camera, the gates opened automatically.
"Che, look at him not hiring any guards. How can technology be reliable," his father grumbled as he watched the gate close after them slow. "So slow any thief can sneak in."
Zou Yue glanced back in fact his father was very correct. These kinds of gate were a potential danger in zombie apocalypse. Especially one which is slow like this one. "Then tell uncle Wen to change it dad,"
"Hump, why would I? If he had brains he would change it himself," he mumbled as he took a small turn and entered the gardens. The pathway went on and on until a huge fountain was seen in the distance.
Zou Yue watched in awe. The garden was filled with beautiful flowers but not only that uncle Wen preferred having organic food so there was a huge space set up for growing vegetable and other grains necessary.
In fact, this huge mansion became the first place to supply all the necessary food like grains and wheat after the zombie apocalypse. The first base of G city.
'no wonder this place was thriving after the apocalypse.' He thought to himself with a small smile.
His mother glanced back from the front seat. "Yue likes gardens, right? Let's raise our own in our house. We even have a small patch,"
"Yeah mum I was planning on planting some spinach and some lettuce after the constructions are over. Maybe carrots will do as well," Zou Yue mumbled.
"Why is it taking so long to finish, though? Are there some difficulties?" his father worriedly looked back.
"Nope, not at all," he actually count say that the construction was delayed because of his new plan to convert the attic into a walk-in freezer. 'I should tell my parents about the dire news someday.....I don't know how they are going to react though'
"Dad, can I ask you something?"
"hmm."
"What are your thoughts about the end of the world?" he tried fishing for opinions.
His father scoffed. "It's bogus. It's like telling the world is flat. But who knows when the time for humanity comes the world might shatter on its own," he whispered with a small sigh.
Zou Yue leaned back into his seat. 'The time for humanity is nearing. In just five months we are gong to go into an all out war with the undead and we are in the losing side.'
Ten years after the zombie apocalypse, the human population was so less. Only a few thousand survived living in human settlements. There were only four major settlement had survived. NC settlement in America, P city settlement in Europe, m city Settlement in Russia, and g city settlement.
Thankfully Zou Yue moved to G settlement just two years into the zombie apocalypse. The previous human settlement in S city collapsed just after a year of his departure.
"Yue, we are here." his mother patted his arms a bit.
Zou Yue blankly nodded and got off the car.
There was a huge white door standing in front of them. "Wow, uncle Wen likes to big things,"
His father chuckled and patted his shoulders. "My son is growing to be just like me,"
"shh, both of you. We are guests we can't joke about uncle Wen like that," his mother chided, glaring at her husband.
Without any remorse, his father laughed even more.
"What the duck are you laughing about? I didn't want to hear your ugly laughter so early in the morning," a gruff voice came from the doorway.
A short grey-haired man walked out with a walking stick towards his father. Without any warning, he started caning him.
"Hey!! Stop that, you stupid three leg." his father caught the cane and they both kind of started having a tug of war.
Zou Yue moved towards his mother with a grimace. "Should I intervene?"
"No, this is how they show love. Trust me years of experience here," mommy calmly mumbled with a small smile. "It's good that they are talking again though."
Uncle Wen and his father stopped their friendly bout after a while.
"It's good to see your young Nue. Why did you even marry this snappy man? I can't deal with him even for a minute," uncle Wen mumbled, hugging his mom softly.
"Well, he was handsome," his mother laughed in glee.
His father's face became sour, but there was a stare of pride in his look.
Zou Yue silently watched their exchange.
"Ah, you must be Yue. You look like the carbon copy of your father," uncle Wen laughed and hugged him tight. "How is your heath now?"
"its good uncle."
"Yes, it better be. I don't want your father calling and sobbing on me. I think my ears bled a little from his hoarse voice,"
Zou Yue smiled a bit. He never knew his father cried when he was sick... he moved closer to his dad with a wide smirk.
"W—what are you looking at me for?"
"Daddy, I love you," he hugged his waist tight.
"Aaah, ahem," his father awkwardly hugged him back.
Uncle Wen laughed at seeing this scene. "You should be thankful you have such a sweet kid all I have is a grandson who is unruly and gruff. I should have urged my wife to have a girl when she was alive." He mumbled.
Zou Yue just smiled at him and followed him into his house.
Silently, his mother got close. "Uncle Wen's wife was such a sweet woman, but she passed away,"
"How much age difference is there between father and uncle Wen?" Zou Yue curiously whispered as they were being escorted into their house.
"Almost fifteen years. They were neighbours before?"
Zou Yue glanced at her with his brows raised.
"Don't think too much about it. Your uncle Wen lived in the downtown area next to your father's house in the past. Later on he started an organic business which became famous and now he is here,"
"That's great," Zou Yue happily glanced around.
Uncle Wen looked back with a wide smirk. "Yue, come here. Come sit next to me." he beckoned him close.
Zou Yue tottered close and sat gingerly next to him.
"Tell me, how is your life going? I heard you are a model. Do you want uncle to get you some brand deals?"
"No, uncle, I was actually planning on quitting. Modelling just wasn't for me,"
"Oh... that's bad... I think you would make a great model." Uncle Wen handed him a plate full of cookies.
"Wen we actually came here because Yue had something to talk to you about." His mother injected with a small smile.
"What is it? Do you need my help? Tell me?" he gently patted his hands.
"Actually, a friend of mine wanted to start a convenient store....."
"Does she need funding? Store space? I can arrange for that."
"No no, she just needs to know where to source various materials for her store."
"Oh, that's all. It's as easy as pie. Wait," uncle Wen hobbled over to the table nearby and took out a card form the drawer. "Tell her to contact this person. He has every connection you want when it comes to exporting and importing goods. I'll personally talk to him about your friend. You can just ask him to do anything for you."
"Is he trustworthy?" Zou Yue whispers doubtfully. "I don't mean it in an offending to uncle Wen it's just that I....."
'How can I explain this? If this person knows that I have so much good and spread the news after the apocalypse it will end of being disastrous,'
He dwindled with his thumb....
Uncle Wen gently patted his shoulders. "Don't worry so much, kid. This person had his mouth sealed. He is a good man, I can personally assure it."
Zou Yue smiled at him. "Thank you so much, uncle Wen~"
"Oh my sweet, sweet boy, I wish you were my child, not that unruly one. Research, research, research, it's all he ever does. He rarely even comes home," he grumbled, holding Yue's hand.
Zou Yue smiled at him. "Your son is in research?"
"Yeah, I don't what that kind of research. Its confidential he says," he sarcastically waved the subject off.
"ohh...."
They had a very good time chatting with each other. Soon it was time to leave.
Zou Yue waved at him goodbye as he was walking out the door. Suddenly he heard a soft voice talking with someone.
This voice was something he was very familiar with.
The voice he heard before he was killed.
