Chapter 377: Move My Hips Better Than Shakira

Qingchen thought about his answer carefully. "Both of us decided on it together. If she was alone in wanting it, I wouldn't have minded and gone along with her, but I want it too. I wanted a wedding where only people I liked were there and people she liked were there. And we achieved that." He shrugged.

"Therefore you didn't invite your dad?" she asked.

Qingchen smiled. "Wasn't it him that said he was too busy?" he retorted.

"You know how your dad is. He knew you wouldn't invite him to begin with. Why didn't you?"

Qingchen shrugged. "You already know the answer. I don't like him." He looked at his mother, knowing that she was about to say something. "Please don't try to be the mediator. Mo Zichen is happiest when he doesn't need to be around people he thinks are beneath him." He looked at her sharply. "Which is just about everyone on the planet."

"You—"

"And it so happens that my wife is part of that group." Mo Qingchen was straightforward. "I am not one of those people who will allow my wife to be treated poorly. I won't even allow myself to do it." He was firm in his belief.

"Your father does like Qian Meng. We all do. We can see the change she has brought about in you. Even when you got your wedding certificate, you weren't the man you are now. I don't know what really happened, but I am glad that you found a new way to look at the world."

He shrugged. "Let's not talk about Mo Zichen and go out for some fun." Talk about that father of his only made the atmosphere take a turn for the worse.

His mom left first and then Mo Qingchen went with the grill. It didn't take much time among everyone to set everything up.

Qingchen rushed to be beside Qian Meng and watched her hold back her laughter as she listened to the incredulous stories that others were telling.

"… and then we opened the door just as the knocks were in mid-strike and no one was on the other side!" Yun Qing Yuan cried.

Qian Meng rolled her eyes. She had heard this story at least ten times before this and knew it by heart. If someone allowed her, she could reiterate it word by word and with Qing Yuan's exact expression. It never changed.

He was making these claims since his school trip back when he was in middle school. It was funny until she believed that Qing Yuan believed in ghosts.

The poor boy couldn't even go to the bathroom at night alone because of this incident.

Mo Yize was the first to look at the couple when everyone else had said their stories. "Don't the two of you have any supernatural stories?" she asked.

Qian Meng shook her head.

"Boss doesn't even believe in god or ghosts. How would she tell you stories?" Li Min spoke blandly. She took a sip of her iced tea as Marcus crept up behind her and tapped her on the shoulder. He slowly poured what Qian Meng was sure was alcohol into her glass and then went to the next person to do the same.

Li Min took another sip.

"I don't need to believe in unscientific occurrences to experience something that I personally couldn't explain," she countered.

Yize rolled her eyes. "Oh, tell me, Great One. What mystical phenomenon did you experience that you couldn't explain with your knowledge of science?" She looked at her older brother. "Your husband would answer you in a jiffy."

"I died and then came back to life," Qian Meng said simply.

Everyone was stunned for a second before they burst into laughter. Qian Meng too joined in on the laughter.

Qingchen squeezed her hand and whispered in her ear, "I am not sure if you are daring or just joking around. They'll put you in a psychiatric ward if you look too serious," he threatened.

"You'll let them?" she challenged.

He shook his head and nuzzled her neck, not responding.

Of course, he wouldn't.

As the night progressed, slow music permeated through the air. It was a good thing that there were no buildings nearby or the raucous they were creating would surely get them into trouble.

Mo Qingchen's usually stiff friends jived with the music. Even Qian Meng joined in at some point.

"Qingchen," someone called.

He looked away from his beautiful wife at the person and raised his brow in question.

"Don't sit around like a lame duck. Come dance with me!" his friend whined.

Qingchen scoffed. "You look like a hobbling monkey," he joked. "Is that supposed to be breakdance? What is that?" he asked. The tone of disgust wasn't lost on his friend.

"Excuse me… it's called floorwork. Don't mock me when you can't even move your hips like Shakira."

He rolled his eyes.

'Of course, I can,' Qingchen thought. 'I just won't dance with you.'

"I move my hips better than her," he said with a hint of seriousness.

His friend scoffed and scurried away, mumbling under his breath. "Narcissist." He found Qian Meng and had to ask her, "Sister-in-law… what do you see in him?" he asked.

Qian Meng was confused for a second before she broke into laughter. "What did he say?"

"That he can move his hips better than Shakira." He looked over at Qingchen with disgust. "Do you think he has lost his mind, finally?"

"Well, if only we could make him dance. Then we would know for sure that he can move his hips better than Shakira," Qian Meng joked.

"We are all sticklers for empirical evidence," his friend sighed.

"That we are…" she chimed in.

"Care for a dance?"

The wedding was the next day. It was barely eleven when everyone decided to hit the bed. The filming crew had long given up on these people and made their way back to the cabin. They would have to wake up before everyone else and make sure the decoration for the wedding and camera angles were perfect.

These people were too happy and in love. It made their single hearts cry out painfully.

At least they got really good food because they were part of the crew.
