Chapter 110 - The One Behind It All

Chapter 110 The One Behind It All

Jocelyn happily stayed at Stephen’s house. She had already forgotten about Aren at the hospital.

So at this moment, she did not know how angry Aren was when he found out that Jocelyn had already completed the discharge procedures.

Aren sat on the sofa in the room, looking like Satan from hell. This made Luke, who was standing at the door, feel weak in the knees.

He subconsciously gulped and took a deep breath.

Knocking on the door that was not closed with his knuckles, Aren opened his eyes. His cold gaze was like ice when it landed on Luke, making him want to disappear in front of Aren immediately.

“Come in!”

Aren saw who was standing at the door and closed his eyes again.

Luke took a few deep breaths outside the door before mustering his courage to enter the room.

“Close the door,” Aren ordered.

Looking at Aren’s expression, Luke felt that it was safer for him to keep the door open, but he could not defy Aren. He walked to the door with a bitter face and closed it.

The bodyguards standing guard outside looked at Luke’s expression and prayed for him. They hoped that their brother would walk out of the room in one piece.

However, it turned out that Aren wasn’t as scary as Luke thought, because his tone was quite flat.

“Found it?” Aren said, making Luke shudder instinctively. Luke nodded, and when he realized that Aren couldn’t see what he was doing, he said, “Yes, I’ve found it. The information is here.”

Luke handed the file to Aren, but he didn’t reach out to take it.

“Summarize it to me.”

Aren placed a hand on his forehead and pretended to listen.

In fact, if not for the fact that this report was related to Jocelyn, he wouldn’t even bother to listen to it at all.

Compared to writing boring reports and doing endless work, he wanted to be alone in a quiet place at this moment.

This inexplicable sadness had never stopped since the moment Jocelyn left, and it peaked after she left the hospital without telling him. Arne had never felt anything close to what he was feeling now. Most of the time, he was like a work machine without emotions.

He spent 365 days a year working. This was a habit that was carved into his bones, but now, he changed.

He didn’t want to see anything related to work at all, and all of this was because of Jocelyn.

“Is there some kind of magic on her that can affect the brains of others?” Aren couldn’t help but frown and guess. The frown on Aren’s face made Luke, who was standing at the side, shudder. He didn’t know who had made Aren unhappy, and he hoped that the blame wasn’t on him. Luke drew a cross in his mind and prayed.

At the same time, he started to summarize the report for Aren.

After training beside Aren for many years, Luke didn’t speak slowly at all. Fortunately, his pronunciation was clear and his rhythm was just perfect, so Aren didn’t feel frustrated or inpatient.

However, no matter how good Luke’s report was, he couldn’t stop Aren from getting angry.

“So what you’re saying is that Maria did all of this behind our backs?” Aren opened his eyes.

“Yes, that’s what the detective who took the picture said,” Luke said as he adjusted his glasses and pretended to be calm.

“Since we’ve already found out about the people involved in this matter, do you want me to get rid of them?” Luke made a cutthroat gesture.

However, Aren did not agree immediately. After thinking for a moment, he said, “You don’t have to do anything about this. Leave the file, and you can go.”

Hearing Aren ask him to leave, Luke almost laughed out loud. He carefully glanced at Aren and heaved a sigh of relief when he saw that Aren wasn’t paying attention to him. He knew that he could get away in one piece today.

After walking out of the ward, Luke wiped the sweat on his forehead and took a few deep breaths.

If the same thing happened a few more times, he might be able to scare himself into the hospital without Aren doing anything. Luke thought as he patted his chest.

However, why didn’t Aren punish Maria and her mother?

Luke couldn’t figure it out.
