Maria followed the attendant’s directions and walked out of the hall.

Shortly after she took a few steps, she saw Madam Brown walking towards her direction with a few attendants beside her. Everyone turned to look at Madam.

Today, the old madam was wearing a set of dark purple clothes which looked quite luxurious.

As if she recognized Maria, the old madam smiled and nodded at her from afar. Her face was filled with an amiable smile.

Maria returned a smile and walked up to her. She took the initiative to ask, “Madam, long time no see. How have you been recently?”

With a smile on her face, the old madam immediately replied, “I’ve been in good health recently. Thank you for your concern about me, Miss Maria. You are really a good girl. We’ll become a family soon, so please drop in on me whenever you feel like it.”

These words were like throwing a large stone into a calm lake, triggering a huge commotion.

In the past few days, there had been news that the future Mrs. Brown would be the daughter of the Wilsons. Everyone guessed so but they had no evidence. However, hearing what the old madam said, everyone was certain that the news was true.

They fixed their eyes at Maria and the old madam, who were standing in the middle of the crowd. Surprise flashed across their eyes, and they started whispering.

“It seems like it’s true!”

“The Wilson family is going to be rich. We need to get close to them!”

“I really didn’t expect that the Brown family would choose the daughter of the Wilsons. It seems like we’ve miscalculated.”

“Apparently, the old madam really likes Miss Maria. She even tells her to come over and talk to her. This is rare!”

Maria heard every word of the discussion. The smile on her lips became more and more obvious. Now she was completely intoxicated by the prospect of becoming Mrs. Brown as well as a life of wealth and rank.

“Of course, I’ll come often to spend time with you.” Maria smiled shyly, looking delighted.

“That’s great! I’m already very happy to hear that.” The old madam was extremely happy. She sized Maria up and said, “You’re very pretty today. Where are you going?”

“Aren asked me to change my clothes,” Maria replied shyly again.

Mrs. Brown nodded kindly. “Since he asked you to go, then hurry up. Don’t miss out on all the fun.”

After all, the girl was Jocelyn’s sister, so she was supposed to be there to witness the announcement of the engagement later. That was why the old madam asked her to hurry up.

However, what the old madam did not expect was that when everyone heard this, they were even more certain that Maria was going to be Aren’s fiancée tonight.

The old madam nodded goodbye to Maria and walked towards the seat in the middle of the banquet.

Maria was elated. Now that she was sure that she was Aren’s fiancée, she was naturally excited and followed the attendant upstairs to the changing room.

Tonight would definitely be an unforgettable night!

Maria quickly walked upstairs and looked down at Jocelyn with disdain. She was so excited that she almost drowned.

To her surprise, Bevis was standing next to Jocelyn.

A creepy smile crept upon her face as she thought to herself. “I’ll let you have Bevis and be the wife of that playboy!”

“You see that, don’t you, Jocelyn?”

Bevis staggered in front of Jocelyn, his body reeking of alcohol. “Although Aren helped you just now, he is destined to be Maria’s future husband. He has nothing to do with you. Don’t fantasize about becoming Mrs. Brown, you understand?”

He seemed to have drunk a lot as his face was all red.

His collar was slightly open and his tie was hanging loosely around his neck. He was still holding a glass of brandy and his eyes were wandering.

“What does that have to do with you?” Jocelyn replied without taking his words seriously.

Displeasure flashed across Bevis’s eyes as he strode forward. “What did you say? What do you mean by that? Look at yourself. You’re just the unloved daughter of the Wilson Family. Aren’t you and Maria the same kind of nasty people?”

He had seen many vain women like her, but none of them were as difficult to deal with as Jocelyn.

She was unmoved by hard or soft tactics. Initially, he thought that she was pretty and wanted to chase after her to have some fun before shaking her off, but he didn’t expect her to always be cold. Gradually, he started to find her detestable!

Damn it!

“When I make you my woman, I’ll teach you a good lesson.” Bevis sneered and sized up Jocelyn fiercely.. He was as vicious as a jackal in the forest
