Chapter 23 - Father's Bias

The white dress was personally made by Jocelyn in her studio. It was extremely beautiful, paired with simple pearls that made it look elegant. However, when Jocelyn opened the closet today, she could not find any trace of the dress.

What should she do?

Jocelyn was so anxious that she was like an ant on a hot pan. She searched everywhere in the house but could not find the dress that she had made.

“Dress? Did you look everywhere?” Mr. Wilson looked up and said nonchalantly.

This daughter was from his ex-wife, and she was as unlikeable as her mother. She was straightforward, so he had never taken this daughter seriously.

“What’s wrong? Can’t you find the dress for the banquet? How about I give you a dress that Maria usually wears? We’re about to leave for the banquet. You don’t mind, do you?”

Mrs. Wilson spoke in a seemingly worried manner, her eyes filled with schadenfreude.

Seeing the situation, Jocelyn became even more anxious.

This was a very important banquet. If she didn’t dress up properly, people might think that she was disrespecting the Brown family and the marriage. It was too impolite to wear a casual dress.

If she went to buy another dress, it would be too late. There was only half an hour before the banquet started, so technically she only had ten minutes to get ready.

What should she do now?

The more she thought about it, the more anxious she became. She stood rooted to the ground and was about to cry.

“Father, Mother, look at me. Am I pretty today?”

A white figure ran in from the outside, and the hem of her white dress flashed past Jocelyn’s eyes. There were even white flowers embroidered on the dress.

This dress…

Jocelyn instantly looked up at the person who ran over. It was Maria. She was wearing a white dress today, and her hair was beautifully woven into a headband. There was also a sparkling diamond accessory on her head. Her lips were red and she had a sweet smile.

There was a pair of white high heels under the dress, making her look fashionable and beautiful.

As Jocelyn saw the white dress, her pupils contracted. She immediately asked, “Maria, where did you get this dress? Why is it on you?”

“Jocelyn, what do you mean?” Maria turned and asked her softly, looking aggrieved.

Even Mr. Wilson looked up and frowned at the aggrieved look on Maria’s face. He looked at Jocelyn in confusion and waited for her to speak.

“This dress is exactly the same as the one I lost. Are you wearing my dress?” Jocelyn questioned.

“Don’t spout nonsense. My mother and I bought this dress from a famous designer. If you don’t believe me, I can confirm with you after I return from the banquet. How could I have stolen your dress?” Maria explained immediately.

Mrs. Wilson added, “Jocelyn, you might be mistaken. White dresses look pretty much the same. I was with Maria when she bought it, so it can’t be yours!”

“That’s right, that’s right. You must be jealous because I look good in it.” Maria glared at Jocelyn and said.

“Cough cough…”

Mr. Wilson cleared his throat and cast a gaze at Jocelyn. “Since you’re older than her, you should set an example for her. Don’t wrong my sister. It’s going to be a big day for her today. Go and find another dress!”

“No way! I embroidered small flowers on this dress myself. It’s at the bottom of the dress. This must be my dress!” Jocelyn said affirmatively, looking at her father.

She did not understand how her dress ended up on Maria within a day. Moreover, she was about to attend the banquet to announce the marriage. How could she make a mistake at this critical point?

Looking at Mrs. Wilson, who was gloating, and Maria, who looked innocent, Jocelyn almost lost control of her emotions.

Footsteps came from behind and a male voice said, “Master, the car is already waiting outside. We can set out once you give the order. It’s getting late. When do you want to set out?” Gavin, the other driver of the house, came over and stood in the doorway.

“We’ll be there soon. You can go over and wait.”

Mr. Wilson sighed and looked at Jocelyn, who had tears in her eyes. “This banquet is very important, so we can’t be late. Since you’re not ready yet, we have to go before you.”

Maria and Mrs. Wilson looked at each other with a smile on their faces..
