Maria gritted her teeth and looked at Jocelyn fiercely. Her body was trembling with excitement, but she could not calm down.

She didn’t understand why every man she liked would eventually be stolen away by Jocelyn who looked like a country girl while she had a sexy body, good looks, and exquisite dresses.

WHY?

She looked at the flowers in Butler Ethan’s hand angrily. The consuming jealousy made her want to run up, grab the bouquet of blue roses, and tear it into pieces.

Fortunately, she gained her composure at the last moment and didn’t do anything inappropriate in front of Butler Ethan.

The servants lined up outside, each of them holding a box of gifts. When they left, the room was packed with gifts one on top of another.

Through the transparent bag, Maria could faintly see a red evening dress. The evening dress was decorated with dazzling diamonds, and the exquisite design made it look noble and exquisite. The waistline of the dress was designed in a way that best revealed the shape of a woman, sexy and graceful.

This dress was one of the gifts that Bevis had given to Jocelyn. It exuded an elegant and luxurious aura. Maria couldn’t take her eyes off of it for a long while. When she saw the clothes on her body, she was suddenly disgusted with them.

“Miss! Just now, Master sent someone to say that he is busy with something and is temporarily unable to rush back. In this box is the diamond necklace he promised to bring back for you.”

Maria suddenly heard someone speak from behind her and looked back. It was the maid standing behind her with the box in her hands.

Maria continued to ask, “Did he say anything else?”

The maid stood behind her and shook her head.

Suddenly, Maria turned to look at Jocelyn and an idea struck her.

This idea made her eyes suddenly widen as if she had an aha moment to a question that bothered her for many years.

It made her heart beat fast in her chest.

“I know, I finally know what to do with that bitch, Jocelyn.” She thought.

Maria’s gaze was still on the evening gown. A twisted smile appeared on her lips, and her entire face became sinister and strange. She looked at Jocelyn with a meaningful gaze and remained silent.

“Miss Jocelyn, these are the eleven gifts that our Mr. Bevis specially selected for you. Have a good day.”

Butler Ethan stood in front of Jocelyn, smiling. He bowed to her like a gentleman and handed the roses to her. “Lastly, my master asked me to give this bouquet of blue roses to the beautiful Miss Jocelyn. He hopes that you can have a good mood every day! Goodbye!”

After Ethan finished speaking, he waved at the servants in the room.

Seeing that, all the servants left. Butler Ethan bowed to the two ladies in the room again and quickly left.

Soon, only Jocelyn and the others were left in the room.

“Well, since I’m not needed here, I’ll go first!”

After Ethan and the others left, she felt something bad was about to happen so she spoke first.

After all, Maria was not a magnanimous person. Although she had no intention of pursuing Mr. Bevis, the fact that Mr. Bevis sent Jocelyn a bunch of gifts without giving her a single one made her pissed off.

According to her previous experiences, Jocelyn knew that she was gonna have a rough time in the family in the next few days, probably harsher than she ever experienced, so she thought that she’d get away from here first and hide from Mario until she was appeased.

“No hurry!” Maria said, walking up to her with a smile. She was no longer as sarcastic as before and looked more normal.

The servant holding the diamond necklace followed closely behind and soon, they were standing in front of Jocelyn.

Looking at Maria approaching her step by step, Jocelyn felt a little nervous. She really did not know what Maria was planning, but she could not do anything about it. At home, she was no different from a shackled animal at the mercy of everyone.

Maria slowly walked to the dressing table, sat down, and said, “My dear sister, this dress sent by Young Master Bevis is indeed quite pretty. You’re really lucky.” From the mirror, it was hard to decipher her true intent from her facial expression.

Jocelyn stood still and looked at Maria quietly.

“Just now, Father sent someone to let the two of us attend Young Master Aren’s banquet. He said that an old acquaintance of your mother’s will be attending as well. She wants to match-make you with someone.” Maria looked down at the red nail on her hand and spoke slowly.

“I don’t like those banquets. You know I never go to any of them.” Jocelyn shook her head and spoke firmly.

“Sister, you have to know that it’s not up to you to decide whether you want to go or not! If you don’t want to go, tell Father. It’s none of my business. But if you anger Father… You know what will happen.”

Maria seemed to have expected this reaction from Jocelyn and said with a smile, “You probably won’t be able to go back to school and continue your school, let alone graduate.”

For Jocelyn, nothing was more deterrent than those words coming from Maria. She seemed to know that Jocelyn wanted to leave her family after graduation.

When Jocelyn heard that, she hesitated.

Her father was indeed a little stubborn and did not allow anyone to question or refute him. If he was really angry at her for being disobedient, he might really do something like not letting her return to school.

By then, her plan to leave this family would be in vain.

However, she really hated banquets attended by children from rich families. These people had nothing to do but spend their days drinking and playing. Even if she went over, she wouldn’t have anything in common with them.

However, if she offended her father because of this and could not graduate successfully, the loss would be too great!

Maria looked at the change in Jocelyn’s expression and said haughtily, “You have to consider it carefully. It’s up to you whether to attend the banquet or anger Father. Anyway, don’t blame me for not reminding you.”

Seeing this, the maid, Lianna, also said earnestly, “Miss Jocelyn, just go. It’s a good opportunity to get to know some rich young masters as well as your mother’s friend. It won’t be pretty if you really anger the master!”

Maria gave Lianne an appreciative look.

“Alright! I’ll go!” Jocelyn sighed and nodded.

Although she really did not want to go, there was nothing she could do about it. Graduation from college was the only way to save her life. Otherwise, if she stayed in this family for the rest of her life, sooner or later, she would be forced to marry someone by her father.

Maria and Lianna looked at each other and smiled meaningfully.

“That’s right. Once you’re at the banquet, there is no guarantee that you can come back in one piece. If you want to blame someone, blame yourself for getting in my way.” Maria thought and a creepy look crept upon her face.

Then, Maria and Jocelyn returned to their rooms to dress up and prepare for the banquet tonight.

Maria specially asked Lianna to send the dress sent by Mr. Bevis to Jocelyn’s room and told her to make sure Jocelyn was wearing it at the banquet.

At seven that night, Maria and Jocelyn, who were both dressed and ready, walked out.

Their chauffeur, Uncle Tom, was already waiting for the two ladies to show up.

“Awesome! I finally see Miss Jocelyn attend a banquet today. I never saw her going to any of the upper-class gatherings. It’s really a pity since she is simply gorgeous.” Tom thought happily as he watched the two ladies walk out.

He was an old employee in the family. He had been working in this family since Miss Jocelyn’s mother got married, which had been almost twenty years. He was always indignant whenever he saw Miss Jocelyn getting bullied or treated unfairly, and he hoped that she could marry a rich boy and leave this horrible place, so he was very elated at this moment.

Tom stood beside the car and looked at the two of them as they walked out of the door. He smiled and said excitedly, “Miss, do you remember me?”

Miss Maria was faster than Jocelyn and was the first to walk out of the door. She looked up and down and said disdainfully, “Aren’t you just a driver? What is there to remember about you?”

There was obviously disgust in her voice. She walked past him without looking at him.

Hearing this, Tom felt a little sad and thought to himself, “I guess she is right, I am just a servant, so what is there to remember about me? I’d better shut up and just drive the car.”

At this thought, Tom turned around and was about to get into the driver’s seat and drive.

“Uncle Tom, it’s Jocelyn. I remember when I was little, you stopped on the way home and got out of the car to buy me a lot of snacks. If not because of you, I didn’t even know there were so many delicious snacks on the street.”

A pleasant sound like that of a bell came from behind. These words shook Tom’s heart and he immediately turned back in surprise..
