Chapter 136 - Wedding Day

Gresnor approaches me in his wheelchair and says, as helps tidy up my suit.

"I can't believe you are getting married."

I reply.

"neither can I buddy, but here we are."

Gresnor sighs.

"no matter how much time has passed, it doesn't feel the same without Klein, huh?"

I nod.

"yeah."

I sigh and say.

"sometimes I blame myself for his death."

Gresnor replies.

"you shouldn't, he volunteered to stay behind, so that we could escape."

I respond while clenching my fists.

"it should have been me."

"well I think he knew, that you would have died if you stayed behind, and that is why, he couldn't let you do that, because if you did die prem.a.t.u.r.ely, the vampires, would have won."

I suck in some air, to keep myself from crying and I reply.

"still, I should have done more, instead of complying to his request."

Gresnor sighs.

"well what's done is done, and besides Klein received the valor reward for his bravery by King Dave at the ceremony."

Gresnor smiles and lightly pats my back.

"alright buddy, let's not keep your wife to be waiting at the altar."

I adjust my collar nervously and take a deep breath while briefly closing my eyes.

"okay, I'm ready."

I walk down the aisle where, the many guests we have invited; Felnor, Master Valtak, Selshruuk, Celeste, Ying Zhu, Bell, Grace, and Jill, and also many members of the royal family on Ellena's side staring at me making my way towards Ellena, who is looking stunning and beautiful in her white dress, I then gulp down a huge amount of air, and think to myself.

"this is it, we will be the first human, elf couple in hundreds of years to be married publicly."

I pat my c.h.e.s.t quickly, just to be sure that the ring I requested to be made, was still at the inside pocket of my suit, I breathe a sigh of relief upon feeling the ring still being there, I then slowly approach Ellena at the altar who is accompanied by her father King Lexur, she smiles and asks while holding my hand.

"you are looking very handsome in that suit."

I respond.

"and you are simple breathtaking."

she smiles at me and then says to King Lexur.

"okay, dad we can proceed the marriage ceremony."

as King Lexur begins to talk about the joint union between Me and Ellena, Ellena leans in and whispers.

"do you have, the marriage bracelet with you?"

"no, but I got something else for you."

she replies surprised.

"the bracelet is an important marriage symbol."

I reply.

"don't worry about it, I've got something else in mind."

I then think to myself.

"hopefully, she likes what I have in store for her."

we quiet down as King Lexur says.

"and with that, we will move on to exchange of the marriage bracelets, between the husband and wife to be."

"hold out your right arm, so that you may receive the marriage bracelet from your wife to be."

I roll up my sleeve, and while Ellena places a gold bracelet around my wrist, she says with a stiff and nervous voice.

"I will perform my duties as a wife."

I then think to myself.

"marriage in this world, feels very formal and straightforward, which is a very stark difference than the marriages on earth."

King Lexur then looks at Ellena and says.

"now hold out your right arm, so that you may receive the marriage bracelet from your husband to be."

he looks at me and says.

"go ahead."

"Collin what is the meaning of this?"

I answer.

"you'll see."

I then say to Ellena.

"here, give me your left hand."

she slowly gives me her left hand and asks.

"what are you doing?"

I place slip the ring, firmly on her ring finger and whisper to her, so that the others can't here me.

"in my previous life, wearing a ring on the third finger from the thumb, symbolizes a strong romantic bond between partners, because this finger is said to be connected to the heart."

"that's beautiful."

she kisses me and says.

"it looks like, I'm going to have a ring made for you."

surprised by Ellena's reaction to what I whispered to her, King Lexur asks.

"can you repeat, what you just said to her, so that we can all hear?"

I clear my throat.

"you've changed my life for the better, and I will fullfil my duty as your husband, until death do us part."

her eyes get filled with tears, and she smiles.

"I wish, I could have said something as beautiful to what you just said to me."

I kiss her and say.

"I love you, and I'm looking forward to our future together."

King Lexur shouts with an ecstatic voice.

"wonderful, and with that, these two have formed a holy union!"

every guest in attendance, began to applause and cheer as me and Ellena embrace each other and once again, exchange kisses, I then think to myself.

"this is it, I'm officially married now."

the guest begin taking turn to approach us, so they can get a chance to talk with me and Ellena, and after meeting many members of Ellena's family, Ying Zhu approaches us with one of his wives by his side and shakes my hand.

"it's good to see you doing well Collin."

I reply.

"you as well."

he then asks.

"I heard you finished your duties at the adventurer's guild and are ready to proceed with training future generations of magic knights."

I reply.

"you are correct, but I'll be teaching for about two years at the kingdom of Corpus, Before heading back to the kingdom of Rozlania."

he replies.

"oh I see."

I then say to him, before he turns around to leave.

"before you go Ying, there is someone that wants to meet you."

he asks curiously.

"and who might that be."

I call over Jill, who approaches us nervously, and says to Ying.

"hello."

I smile.

"well I'll leave you two be."

a few hours pass by and most of our guests have already left home, King Lexur shakes my hand and says.

"welcome to the royal family."

I reply.

"I feel honored, that you have already accepted me as part of the family."

after he and the last of our guests leave, Ellena says to me while holding my hand.

"come on, darling, it's time to go back home."

Hope grabs my other hand and we leave together

carrying the Belfaust name.
