Chapter 106 - Hometime?

Ivy was busy typing on her computer her fingers flying across the keys. Today she had held a shareholders meeting and a board of Directors meeting. They went as well as she had expected. There were many areas lacking good staff and most of those were employed by Cole.

His incompetence was truly unbelievable to hire people who lacked the incentive and the qualifications for the job that they were placed in. Her fingers finally stopped and she rubbed her temples.

Feeling a slight headache, she reached for her coffee cup and took a drink. It was cold and bitter, she quickly put it down. She looked at her phone to check the time, it was getting late. Noah said he wouldn't make it home for dinner so she had worked later.

Home... thinking about that word made her smile. She had a home to return to now. She looked at her ring and then quickly stood up.

She looked to Thomas, he was fast asleep on the sofa which made her laugh. She walked out of her office and saw that Nathan was still working away. She stood in the doorway and smiled at him, "Time to go home."

Nathan looked up from his laptop and returned her smile, "I will when you leave."

Ivy sighed, "I'm just going to see my father and then go home, so pack up and head on yourself. Thomas is still here. I will go home with him."

"Okay, goodnight then Ivy." Nathan smiled back and returned to his work.

Ivy rolled her eyes, she knew he wouldn't leave until they all left together. Just like the old days, only now she wanted to leave ad she had someone to go home to. She walked past Coles office and it was empty. He would clock out early, he had no drive and that was always clear to Ivy.

Knock Knock

Ivy knocked on her father's door and entered. Inside her father was buried under paperwork. He was old fashioned so he preferred to work with hard copies and then his secretaries would have to copy it onto the computer so everyone could have access to them.

Her father Victor looked tired and older. He had wrinkles on his brow and dark circles under his eyes. Seeing this she had suddenly felt bad for abandoning him for, over the past two years, he had obviously been overworked and stressed.

She walked to his desk and sat down in the chair opposite. He then looked up, his tired eyes reaching hers and he smiled showing his laughter lines at his eyes.

"Ivy your still here working away?" Victor asked.

"Yes, I had a few things to sort out after today's meetings. I need to fire some staff and hire new staff with the qualifications to do the job." Ivy then sighed. She had barely scratched the surface of everything and had so much yet to do.

"Yes, I was wrong now I see it. I thought Cole would improve our lives but I made a mess by inviting him into our company and home. I am sorry." Victor looked away, ashamed of his actions.

"Dont think of the past any more okay. He has a few months left and then we are free of him and his incompetence." She didn't want her father to look so unhappy any more so she smiled before saying, "You are going to have a son in law. Me and Noah are engaged."

Victora head snapped up at the marvellous news, "I am so happy you have found someone Ivy. Congratulations my daughter, I knew you would choose someone worthy."

"Thanks." Ivy smiled and lifted her hand up and showed her father.

Victor was speechless but regained his composure to ask, "I know you are very capable and smart. I just want to make sure he makes you happy?"

"Of course I wouldn't be with someone I didn't love. He is a good man to me at least. I know he seems ruthless in nature but he cares for me." Ivy spoke from her heart to ease his worries.

"Okay, okay I just had to ask as your father." Victor sighed and smiled. He stood up and went around his desk.

Ivy watched her tired father stretch his arms out uncertain for the response he would receive. Ivys stood up and embraced him. She had already decided to forgive him, he just had to forgive himself.

Parting after the hug she smiled at Victor, "Time for change father, we can do this together. But let's go home tonight. We can start afresh in the morning."

Tears welled up in Victor's eyes and he smiled. Ivy could tell he was happy and relieved, "Alright let's go, you pack up I will go wake, Thomas."

"Okay." Victor let go and stood beside his daughter and then got his stuff together to follow her out.

Ivy grabbed his jacket for him and handed it to her father.

They both walked out and went to her office together. Nathan stood with his coat on waiting. Ivy passed by and smiled and said, "I won't be long."

Ivy walked and lightly laughed at the position that she had found Thomas in. Thomas had one foot on the floor and one on the sofa he had both arms raised above his head. His mouth was wide open and he was snoring.

Ivy went up to Thomas and shook his leg, waking him.

"What... what's going on?" Thomas jumped up confused as to where he was. Seeing Ivy, Victor and Nathan smiling at him. He felt sheepish, "Eh... hometime?"

"Yes and I'll drive sleepy." Ivy then threw his coat to him and picked up her bag and headed out. They all went down in the lift together and to the car park.

They all said their goodbyes and Ivy got in the driver's seat and revved the engine of Noahs matte black Bugatti Veyron.

Thomas turned to look at Ivy from the passenger seat, "I'm scared."

Ivy giggled then revved the engine again and drove off.
