Chapter 985 Discarding Self-esteem For Money

As they walked out of the bar, Julie turned to look at James. "Where are we going now?"

James raised his hand and pointed ahead. "There."

Julie turned her head to look in the direction where he was pointing. A sneer rose to her lips when she saw a hotel not far from them. She knew what he was thinking. "Of course! You waited all this time just to take me to the hotel, right? That's so typical of all men, and you're no exception."

James ignored her little jab at him and strode ahead straight to the hotel in silence. He didn't even bother to look back to see if Julie was following.

Julie was a little drunk, and by the time she reached the hotel lobby, James had already checked in.

James threw a glance at her and headed for the elevator.

"So desperate?" Julie muttered wistfully, but still followed him.

As soon as they were in the elevator alone, Julie threw herself into his arms. She wrapped her arms around his neck and rubbed her foot provocatively against his calf.

However, James stood as till as a tree and didn't respond to her at all.

Ding dong!

When the elevator door opened, James removed her hands from around his neck and strode directly to the room.

His indifference had irritated Julie somewhat. Although now that she was already here, she had to bite the bullet.

Reluctantly, Julie entered the room, closing the door behind her. Then James grabbed her by the shoulders and pushed her roughly onto the bed.

He had neither regard for her feelings nor tenderness towards her.

"Ouch, that hurt!" Julie grumbled as she kicked her heels aside.

James then leaned on the bed and eagerly began tearing her clothes open with both his hands.

"What are you doing? My shirt is expensive, so don't rip it, okay? " Julie complained, trying to push him away.

Upon hearing what she had said, James straightened up and pulled out his wallet. He then pulled out some bills and stuffed them direct

“Who does she think she is? I won’t marry her even if she is the last woman on earth,” said Hiram Rong.

“Marry into a family with tens of billions of assets? How lucky I am! I won’t be so foolish as to break off the engagement. At worst, I can receive money as part of the divorce settlement,” said Rachel Ruan.

Their great-grandfathers made a pact about their engagement a hundred years ago...

ce."

"James, how can you judge me like that? It's always just been a deal between us. Hasn't it? Why are you so stingy now? You don't have a crush on me, do you?" Julie asked incredulously.

James froze at her words. "Yes, that's a possibility. How could I be interested in a woman like you? So money-oriented and easy as well."

He shook his head with a sigh, then left the room.

Julie was left standing naked. She wanted to go after him but was afraid of exposing herself to people passing by. So she quickly put on a nightgown and ran after James. Standing by the elevator, she pleaded, "James, let's go back to the room and talk about it, okay? The elevator will be coming up in a minute, and there might be guests in it. It would be so embarrassing to be seen like this..." Julie took him by the hand and begged piteously, trying to persuade him.

"Why would that bother you? You wouldn't care about that anyway, so what does it matter if they see you?" James sneered coldly.

"Come on. Do you want me to apologize? I know I have a problem with my values, but there is a reason for that. A normal woman would never do such a thing but I was forced to. I'm well aware that you despise me now, but I have no choice," sobbed Julie, miserably.

But the elevator was almost there.
