Chapter 979 I Let You Down

After a long passionate kiss, Jean was left breathless and flushed all over. A few minutes later, she finally caught her breath and lay in Zed's arms.

"You're so rude. My lips hurt."

"It's because you've been giving me the silent treatment for so long. This is just the beginning. There are more severe punishments for you later." With that, he pressed his forehead to hers.

Jean knew what sort of punishment Zed was referring to, and she felt a little shy at the thought. "You haven't recovered from that neck injury. You shouldn't aggravate it."

"Well, such a tiny injury is nothing to be worried about." Zed smiled. He then lowered his head and tried to kiss her again, but she escaped this time.

As the night progressed, the air had cooled down gradually, which had made Jean sneeze.

"Let's go downstairs. It's cold here," she said. Even though Zed had given her his coat, it was still chilly. Also, Zed was only thinly dressed.

However, he held onto his own without any complaint. What a stubborn man he was!

Without warning, Zed picked her up and carried her downstairs.

"You haven't recovered from the wound yet. Let me down, or it may get worse," Jean said as she struggled gently.

"Stop wriggling, or we'll both fall down the stairs and end up in the hospital. You'll have a hard time explaining that to James," Zed said with a smile, still holding onto her tightly.

He didn't put her down and carried her all the way to the bedroom where he gently lay her down onto the soft bed.

There was a fire burning inside of him, and he couldn't stand it any longer. The wound on his neck gave him some grief from time to time, but he wasn't thinking about the pain at this moment. They haven't made love since Jean had miscarried and Zed was on the verge of the breaking point.

Jean could sense his longing for her and didn't have the heart to reject him. So she lay meekly on the bed at his disposal.

She closed her eyes, thinking it might be a good opportunity for them to restore the intimacy in their relationship again.

Up until now, she had been resisting any intimacy with Zed in fear of falling

It all starts on that fateful night.

When Ella, who is the dear sister of Samuel’s best buddy, sneaks into the hotel where the drunken Samuel resides and gets pregnant…

"I don’t want a divorce!"

"I don’t want a divorce!"

"I did no such thing!"

Ella jumped on the bed and cried out. “I don’t want a scheming woman as my wife. Just sign the paper...

phone and had been hesitant to tell Jean about it. However, now that she was back with Zed, it seemed unnecessary to tell her now.

"I'm going to wash up." Jean smiled and walked back to her room.

James put on his headphones and turned up the volume of the music. He increased the speed of the treadmill, hoping to sweat out his depression and stop thinking about his feelings for Jean.

He was so absorbed in his world that he failed to notice his father standing behind him.

It wasn't until his father reached out and tapped him on the shoulder that he realized that someone was there.

James thought it was Jean, so he looked back and asked, "What's wrong?"

When he saw that it was his father, James was so shocked that he forgot he was jogging for a moment. He stumbled on the treadmill, but fortunately, his father quickly stepped forward and turned the treadmill off.

"Why are you so surprised to see me?" his father reproved.

"Sorry, I just... I just didn't see you..." James panicked as he hastily removed his headphones and swallowed nervously.

"What can I do for you?" James asked in a low voice.

"Why? Does there have to be a reason for a father to visit his son? You seem to be running the gym so well that you've completely forgotten about taking over the family business, haven't you?"

His words made James feel guilty. He lowered his head and answered, "I'm sorry, dad. I let you down."
