Chapter 939 We Need To Talk

When Jean was about to walk into the kitchen to find out about the noise, Zed was going out of it. Seeing Jean, Zed said softly, "You're up. Did I wake you up with all this noise?"

Jean shook her head in reply. She was still surprised to see him in an apron. Getting her senses back, she asked, "Why aren't you in the hotel? Don't you have to work today?"

Zed walked towards the dining table and placed down the food he prepared, while talking to Jean. "Well, I wanted to make you some breakfast first before leaving for the hotel. Also, you got drunk last night, so I made some rice porridge for you. Oh, and did you brush your teeth already?" he asked warmly.

Jean nodded her head in reply before walking towards the table and getting seated. Zed headed back to the kitchen to get the rest of the food. While waiting, Jean picked her phone up and opened her WeChat to find a few messages from James this morning. At that time, she was still sleeping, so she wondered why the messages were already marked Read.

Jean narrowed her eyes and thought, 'Obviously, it was impossible for me to open my WeChat and read these messages in my dream.'

Finally, Zed came out of the kitchen, placing the bowl of rice porridge in front of her. "Here. The porridge is ready. Don't take it all in. It's still quite very hot," he warned.

"Okay, thank you," Jean replied with a nod. She got a spoon to stir the contents of her bowl, and with her free hand, she started to read the messages.

As Zed was sitting across from Jean, he saw where her focus was at and asked softly, "What are you looking at?"

"Haven't you read them already?" Jean replied nonchalantly before casting a quick glance at him.

Zed's eyes widened a little in surprise and said, "Well—"

Jean immediately cut him off and said, "You don't have to explain yourself. Besides, I don't have any dirty secrets on my phone, so you could check it out anytime you want. I'm much more honest than you anyway." She said the last sentence in a very low voice.

Even still, Zed heard it very well. Feeling anxious, he swallowed a bile on his throat and wondered what to say to that. With a clear look of Jean, he opened his mouth and said, "I thought I have already explained to you everything between Julie and me."

Placing her spoon down, Jean focused her attention on Zed, crossing her arms on top of the table, and asked, "Did you have sex with Miss Julie? How many times? How did it feel?" She kept her cold eyes on Zed, seemingly asking something unnecessary.

With sincere eyes, Zed frowned at Jean glumly for her questions and replied, "Jean, please, can you at least give me a little credit?"

Jean ignored Zed's statement and frowned back at him. "I think you must feel quite nice. After all, she has an amazing body and a cute set of ass, so how many times do you do it a night?" She smirked at him.

Zed gritted his teeth, feeling a little annoyed an

"You're my wife in name only, on paper only. My heart and love will never be yours."

Edward made it clear to Daisy that she was nothing to him. They were both victims of family greed -- the marriage was arranged for them.

Six years passed. She remained quiet, gaining a reputation in the army as a tough-as-nails colonel. When she walked into his life again, Edward fell in love with this woman...

ently scratched his burned skin.

Julie immediately took her hand off. With her hands covering her mouth, she asked anxiously, "Oh my god! Did you get burned? How did that happen? Shouldn't you go to the hospital? How long have you been hurt?"

"It's nothing. Don't worry about it. I will be fine in a minute," Zed answered, quickly taking a step back and withdrawing himself from Julie.

"What do you mean nothing? If you don't go to the hospital now, I am pretty sure that your hand will form blisters. If that happens, you will have to do everything with your other hand only. Now, do you understand the gravity of being burned? Let me take you to the hospital now!" Julie said, walking towards him and holding Zed's arm, leading him towards the entrance of the hotel.

"Is it really that serious?" Zed muttered under his breath. Confused, he looked down at his hand and found that it was so swollen. Apart from that, it was only then when he acknowledged his hand did he feel the sudden pain. It seemed that his arm was worse and more serious than before.

Without any word, Julie pulled Zed into the car. After sitting on the driver's seat, she instantly started the car and headed straight towards the hospital. On the way, she could not help but scold him, "Oh my god, Zed! You are already an adult. How can you be so careless? I hope it's not too late. Next time, if you got burned, you must keep it cold at once and then apply some medication. Do you hear me?"

Zed took a quick glance at her. Without responding to her scolds, he turned his cell phone on to check for any messages. The message he sent to Jean this morning had already been delivered quite a long time now, but she still did not reply. He turned to his side of the window and sighed, wondering, 'Did she receive my message?'

After not receiving any reply back, Julie gave Zed a quick glance and noticed that he was upset. With a soft voice, she asked, "What's wrong?"
