Chapter 865 But He Was In Love With Her

"And? What did he say?" Kirk asked anxiously. Jean took a deep breath and said to him, "Zed told me that he and Elizabeth barely talked to each other. The words they said to each other were probably less than twenty. What exactly are you suspecting? There is nothing going on between them!" Jean gave him a serious look and continued, "Even they did have something going on, hypothetically speaking, it's all in the past! Elizabeth is your fiancee now! You can't doubt your relationship and quit on her now!"

To be honest, Jean was a little upset with Kirk's behavior.

Kirk cracked a wry smile. "What if it was a mistake to begin with?" Kirk asked dryly.

"What do you mean by that?" asked Jean. She looked at Kirk in surprise. At one moment, she thought he just felt jealous. But now, after what he had just said, she was not so sure. She didn't really understand what he was trying to say.

Kirk took a deep breath and sighed deeply. He struggled for a second, then he looked at Jean. From his eyes, Jean could almost feel the pain he was suffering. "Although I have known Elizabeth for years," he started, "and it seemed like the right time for us to get marry, we are never really in love." The tone of Kirk's voice was low and sad.

Upon hearing this, Jean didn't really know how to respond. There was nothing in her head but complete and utter shock.

She couldn't believe what she just heard from Kirk. It was easier when she thought that Kirk was just jealous. But knowing that the engaged couple wasn't even in love...

'How could two people get married without loving each other?' thought Jean. It was the only thing that consumed her thoughts, trying to process the information Kirk just told her. Jean didn't say a word, and Kirk didn't seem to mind.

"I knew she was waiting to find the right guy to marry when I met her," Kirk explained. "Back at the time, her family was trying to rush her into marriage. When I came into her life, it was like an instant solution to her problem. And so, she asked me to be her boyfriend. I really didn't mind. It was like... a small favor. But, before we realized it, time flew by, and it's been three years already. During those years, many eligible men came to her and tried to win her heart, but none of them succeeded. Elizabeth didn't even bother to look at them. At that time, I thought she might have feelings to

Drugged one night by her ex-boyfriend, a mysterious man took advantage of her in an ecstatic night filled with sex. To take her revenge, she married the man, and used him. "As long as I'm alive, I'm still his legal wife, while all of you are just his mistresses.”She remained adamant even when he was involved in scandals with other women...

she liked Zed, or that she didn't want to marry Kirk anymore.

"Zed..." Jean called out. She took a look at Kirk and continued, "Kirk just told me that their relationship was not real."

"What? What were you thinking, Kirk?" Zed shouted in shock.

"I..." said Kirk. All Kirk could manage to do was a thin, faint smile. He looked at Zed and explained, "You know I was always kind of slow with girls. I never really thought about getting into a relationship, much less a marriage. I have known Elizabeth for three years. I think she's a nice girl."

He gave a bitter smile and shook his head.

Zed and Jean exchanged a look. "You love Elizabeth, don't you?" Zed asked.

With some hesitation and an uncertain smile, Kirk nodded as a response to Zed's question. Then, he said, "It really doesn't matter. She doesn't care about me."

At this point, it looked as if Kirk had already given in to the pool of depression that was growing in his head. Jean and Zed looked at each other helplessly.

"How would you know?" A ringing voice came from behind them. It was Elizabeth's. She walked in front of them, her hands on her hips and her face fuming with anger.

Their faces paled with shock.

It was not a good time to see Elizabeth.

They were in big trouble to let Elizabeth hear what they were saying.

"Hey! Elizabeth, how's it going?" Kirk asked nervously. He could feel the rage in her eyes.

"Kirk. I am going to say this once, just to make things clear. No matter what we were, I've already decided to be your wife. As long as you need me, I will not leave you!"
