Chapter 789 I Can'st Help It

"You sound like I'm trying to sabotage their relationship." Jean was a little displeased. She turned to look at Zed. "You should know that I am the person who wish they could be together most," Jean said in a serious tone. "If they don't, Yanni will keep clinging onto you. She's trying to steal you away. Can't you see that?"

With a frown, Zed scoffed, "What are you talking about? I've told you many times. She and I are just friends. Why can't you understand that? You just keep imagining things." Zed glanced at Jean, who was already fighting through her heavy eyelids. With a sigh, he softened his tone, "I'm going to the study. You get some rest, okay? I'll come and call you when lunch is ready."

Jean nodded and yawned, hugging the blanket closely to her body. Just like that, she was out like a light.

Seeing how exhausted Jean was made Zed shake his head helplessly.

'She barely got enough sleep last night and yet she still insisted on tagging along.

Women! They are all peculiar creatures.'

As Zed walked out to the corridor, he saw Yanni coming up the stairs.

Yanni put on a mocking smile when she saw him. "What is the matter? Did Jean kick you out?" she teased.

Zed chuckled. "No. She's sleeping. I'm going to the study to deal with some business,"

he explained.

"Thank you for today. I made you miss work just so that you would go with me," Yanni said apologetically, looking as if she felt guilty about it.

"What are you saying? You act as if we weren't friends," Zed said, pretending to be annoyed. "I am so excited that you could come to China to see me,"

he added, walking closer to Yanni. As he got closer to her, he noticed her skinny cheeks. "You're still as skinny as before. You haven't gained even a little weight at all," he said with a sigh. "Yanni, you have to take care of yourself, okay?" 'So he still cares about me, ' Yanni thought to herself. An overwhelming joy flooded through her.

She smiled at Zed. "At least you

"You're my wife in name only, on paper only. My heart and love will never be yours."

Edward made it clear to Daisy that she was nothing to him. They were both victims of family greed -- the marriage was arranged for them.

Six years passed. She remained quiet, gaining a reputation in the army as a tough-as-nails colonel. When she walked into his life again, Edward fell in love with this woman...

ment.

"If Zed knows your feelings for him and refuses you, what will you do? You can't stay here anymore. Have you thought about that?" he asked, his brows furrowing.

There was a flash of panic in Yanni's eyes.

'Right. If I confessed and Zed didn't return my love, what would I do?

I can't stay here any longer—just as Wesley said.

Is that what I want?

No, no, no, absolutely not.'

"If you want to leave some great memory of this for yourself, I will help you. But if you have other plans, I will not allow you to sabotage other's family, regardless how much I like you. Can't you see that Zed and Jean are deeply in love? Anyone who's not blind can see that they are happily together. Besides, Jean is pregnant, can't you see that?"

"What are you talking about?" Yanni was shocked. She looked at Wesley with awe, "How could you see that?"

"In the cafe, she didn't drink coffee and just ate a few pieces of cakes. And even then, Zed was watching her eat those cakes with concern. It is obvious, okay?"

Yanni shook her head. Though she had heard about it before she came here, she still found it hard to accept the fact. And even Wesley, who had just known them for a few hours, could see how Zed loved Jean.

'How could it be?

How could it be possible?

Do I really have no chance at all?'
