215 In the eyes of the Society and Law

Wang Reiji spared no second look at the crushed communication device beneath her foot. She really wanted to end everything with Zhang Chenric in just one swoop thus this confrontation should only be between her and him. Also, it seemed like she was not yet ready to fully open up her past to her subordinates. Though she had trust in them, there was still a limit unto which she can share a portion of her private life. If she shared everything now, what will be left of her?

Walking on the firm carpet covering the hallway of the 13th floor, Wang Reiji took out her palm gun, cocked it before she stopped in front of room 007 and stared at one of the CCTV. It was as if telling Hanzo to unlock the door for her. Split seconds after her gesture, a soft clicking sound coming from the side of the door was heard. Hanzo understood her stare and promptly unlocked the door so she can enter.

sSoon as the door of room 007 was unlocked, Wang Reiji carefully turned the knob and quietly entered the room holding and pointing the gun in her hands. Now that she was almost in the middle of the executive suite, her breathing became rapid, her pulse pounding in her temples. Though she was starting to get nervous, adrenaline surged in her system, enough to cancel her shaking legs and steady her footing as she held tightly unto to the gun she was carrying.

'I will face this. It is now or never!' Upon saying these words to herself, Wang Reiji quickly moved deeper in to the suite while carefully scanning every side and corner hoping to see her target. Unfortunately, she saw no one. When she was about to move to the other side of the suite, she felt a warm breeze touching her skin. Following the direction of the air, it led her to the balcony where Zhang Chenric stood facing the city view almost covered with the billowing smoke coming from the cigarette stick in his fingers.

"What the fuck are you doing here, Zhang Chenric?" Wang Reiji demanded impatiently.

"We have been out of each other's lives for five fucking long years! I think it would be best just to forget about the past and leave the present alone!" She then added as she held the man at gun point.

But instead of giving out a response, Zhang Chenric first put down his cigarette on the ashtray before he turned around to face Wang Reiji. He then offered the glass of whisky in his hand.

"Chill. How about taking a sip first? Hmmm… If I knew you were personally paying me a visit tonight, I should have dressed to the nines, my love. Zhang Chenric continued to stay calm despite seeing the gun that was pointing at his face.

Wang Reiji gave Zhang Chenric a side glance. Then she reached her hands out and grabbed the glass from Zhang Chenric's hand as she frolicked a menacing grin on her face.

'SWOOSH!'

"Chill!" With her hand visibly shaking probably due to anger, Wang Reiji poured the whisky unto Zhang Chenric's face.

Then, ignoring the cold whisky running down his face, Zhang Chenric moved closer. So close that the gun was already poking his chest, catching Wang Reiji off guard that she froze. Soon when her scent entered his nose, he became willing to risk some unreceptive reaction from her. He began to touch her. He brushed the side of her cheek with the tip of his fingers, tracing its line, his eyes never parting her face – though Wang Reiji was not even looking directly at him.

As Wang Reiji stood frozen in front of her old flame, she suddenly realized that she did not know what she wanted, that she abruptly felt she was too exhausted to ponder clearly. She then began to tremble, now it seemed that she had fallen into a tranced state, allowing Zhang Chenric to gently slid his arms around her while he ignored the gun that poked his chest.

"Get your filthy hands off me or I will fire the gun! I swear, I will shoot you dead! Move!" Wang Reiji's voice sounded husky and reliable.

Zhang Chenric immediately did what he was told, he released Wang Reiji from his arms but did not move away from her as he studied her for a moment under the silver moonlight that poured from the sky to the balcony.

"Leave. Go away and never show yourself to my daughter again. This is an ultimatum." Wang Reiji's voice shaky, her defenses were getting dangerously brittle. If she wanted to get rid of him, she should have showered him with bullets the first time she saw him standing exposed in the balcony. Now, she felt desperate.

"Let's talk. I want to talk to you. Listen to me please." Zhang Chenric pleaded as he reached his hands out and gently grabbed Wang Reiji's shoulders. There was tension in him that hinted her that he would pull her even closer.

Unconsciously, Wang Reiji's tears flooded like waters rushing down a waterfall. Hastily, she wiped a hand across her face, she was appalled. There were tears in her cheeks.

Zhang Chenric's hands that were on her shoulders were now around Wang Reiji once more. It seemed that he planned to held her until she stopped crying.

"Hush now, my love." Zhang Chenric's voice was a low murmur in her ear, and his breath caressed her skin. Then, he took the audacity to touch her hair with his lips. Instinctively, Wang Reiji knew that he wanted to kiss her. However, she did not have the strength to resist.

"Please put the gun down. I do not want the mother of my child to become a murderer. Also, Oriental Europa was just launched tonight. Me dying inside your hotel will just put you and your family in hot water. Look, I am sorry. I should have not approached our daughter. But one more day away from her might really shatter my sanity." He said gently.

"You do not want the mother of your child to become a murderer? Was that a joke? You should have reminded me to laugh! Open your fucking eyes, Chenric! Aren't you the one who sued me for allegedly killing your father who is very much alive today?! In the eyes of the society and law, I am not just a murderer! I am god-damn fugitive!" Wang Reiji's voice broke as her tears burst forth like a flood from a dam, her defenses finally went crumbling down. She then pushed Zhang Chenric away with all her might before she dropped on her knees and sobbed like a little child.
