Chapter 478 - HAPPINESS TO SORROW

Savannah and Hawk made their report first while waiting for the DNA analysis of the bones that Valkyrie and Brown found. Their mission was considered half done and one more mission to go before Hawk can finally make his proposal. Savannah didn't know anything about.

They already made plans that they will be staying with Jillyanna and Travis during Christmas. Then they will go back to the Knight's family during New Year. Same goes for Brown and Valkyrie, as long the mission was a success, they would go back to spend Christmas with Jill and RV then, spend New Year with Dr. Anderson.

Calhoun didn't tell them anything yet. He wanted them to focus on their mission specially that their lives where in the line. He can't afford to give them distractions. Two days later, they received the documents containing the result of the DNA. Brown brought the documents to Calhoun and showed it to him.

Relief and joy washed over their anxiety after seeing the result. It was a positive, meaning the person who died was really the leader. Valkyrie was so happy that he immediately started his report with Brown's help. They wanted to finish their tasks as soon as possible and leave the camp.

After an hour, he submitted the file in their system and waited to get approval. It will be reviewed by their specialist and once it was approved, they can already count it as accomplished. Ten minutes after the submission, Valkyrie received a reply of verification and approval came after it.

"Yes!" He exclaimed as he asked Brown to close the computer. "Let's go."

Brown stood up but Calhoun came to find them instead. Savannah and Hawk was following behind him. "Major General, are we going for another mission?" Brown asked him. It wasn't new to them to get a mission right after finishing one. It happened a lot of times to their team and they were used to it.

However, it was not the reason that Calhoun came to find them. "You are going back to the hacienda?"

"Yes, sir." The four of them answered.

"Hn. I don't want you to be surprised but I might as well tell you the news now."

"What do you mean? Did something happen while we're gone?" Savannah started to get anxious and her hands were shaking on her side.

"Remember Ryden?"

"Yes."

"He is dead." Calhoun stated flatly.

"So?"

"Before he died, he made a move. Jillyanna is currently in Senyu Medical Center, fighting for her life."

"And the baby?" Brown asked. He knew how much Jillyanna wanted to have a child and Travis was also looking forward to see their baby.

"The baby was born prematurely but he was doing fine. It's just that, Jillyanna is in critical condition. So ---"

"Thank you, Major General. We'll go now. Let us know if there's any mission that needs our help." Savannah didn't let him finish and they turn around and left the place. It didn't matter to him if they made a salute or not, as long as no one sees them. It had always been like them. As long as no other officers were around, they would just treat each other as family – no need for superiority pressure or formalities.

Calhoun watched them leave and sighed. He was mentally praying that Jillyanna would make it alive.

Hawk drove the car that they borrowed from Travis when they left for the mission. They had parked it inside the military compound to make sure that they can use it to come back. Instead of going back to the hacienda or to Jillyanna's house, the four of them went directly to the hospital.

They all wanted to see her first to make sure that she was still there, fighting and not giving up yet. The car was silent and they were all thinking about what they can do to help her. They were thinking about the baby that will not see his mother if Jillyanna really leaves.

"Good Lord, please bring her back to us. She doesn't deserve to die." Brown mumbled to himself.

"I know right. There are many bad people out there, why must He take Jillyanna?" Savannah added.

"She won't go. I trust her strength. She won't just give up." Valkyrie chipped in but in his heart, he was deeply worried. Hawk didn't say anything as he focused himself to drive. He kept his speed in maximum as per traffic regulation. He wasn't over speeding but he was still driving fast.

Two hours later, they arrived at the hospital and the three of them jumped out without waiting for Hawk to finish parking. They asked the receptionist and found that she was indeed under tight observation in ICU. They immediately ran towards the ICU without using the stairs. It was a waste of time to wait for the elevator.

Many people watched them but they didn't even glance towards anyone. People were confused to see several military officers running towards the stairs and hallways. Savannah and her company didn't realize the problem until they reached the ICU. Travis looked at them from head to toe, one of his eyebrows was raised and he was looking at them questioning gaze.

Savannah looked at herself before looking towards Brown and Valkyrie. She slapped her forehead and closed her eyes. "No wonder people were looking at us."

Travis just sighed and closed the door of the ICU to face them properly. He looked tired and his face was just as pale just as Jillyanna's. They were like a pair of corpses.

"How is she?" Brown asked as soon as Travis was out.

"She has not woken up since the operation."

"Wasn't the operation successful?"

"It was but her vitals keep on fluctuating."

Savannah leaned on the glass window to see the face of the woman whom she knew was very strong. She could kill her enemies in a flash yet remained kind to the people who respected her. "How did this happen? What exactly did Ryden do?"
