Chapter 474 - I'M BEGGING YOU TO STAY

Jackie turned a blind eye to what was happening around her. She already expressed her opinion towards the victims and, though she was a little bit afraid of the current Travis, she couldn't blame him for getting angry.

Jillyanna was his life, the woman that he had been yearning to find all his life, the only person that he was willing to spend the rest of his life yet, they ruined her. They put her life in danger again and again. It was no wonder that Travis would flip up and became this angry.

"Big brother, until when are you going to play? Big sis should be done with her operation by now." Jackie reminded him, in case he didn't notice the time. It seemed like they just arrived in the abandoned house but since the time Jackie gave the men to him, for him to play, an hour had passed already.

Travis nodded his head in silence but Jackie wasn't sure if the two of them were in the same boat. He was still pouring the isopropyl alcohol on the stab wounds that he made. Jackie could already imagine the pain that the victims were going through and she felt goosebumps were rising on her arms.

When he felt satisfied, he removed the gagged that he placed in their mouth. Ryden was weak, even raising his head to meet Travis was a labor for him. His head was lolling on the side, looking like a detached head of a mannequin.

"I'm having fun. Are you having fun?" Travis asked. His chuckle was loud and clear in the middle of the night, inside the abandoned house with no one else but the four of them. "Are you happy?" He asked again while slapping the face of the man he detested the most. "I promised not to deal with animals anymore. I promised not to stain my hands with blood of insignificant people but you made me break it. So, who shall pay for it?"

Ryden slowly raised his head to see him. A smile was formed on his lips, no trace of concern for his life or a trace of guilt at least. He was indeed happy. "I am happy. I am so much happy that you break your promise. I am happy that your wife is in danger. I am so happy that your child was born prematurely. I am happy to see you like this." Ryden mumbled in his hoarse voice. There was mirth in his eyes, reflecting his insanity and killing intent.

"Too bad, my wife and I still won in the end." Travis straightened his body and stretched his limbs. "Have fun in hell." He murmured and left the house with Jackie following behind him. When he was rummaging through cupboards and drawers, he found a few gallons of kerosene. He didn't know why there was a stock of kerosene in there but it made him smile and appear glad for this discovery. He poured the kerosene on the floor and kicked the gallon towards the living room where Ryden was staying.

Either they noticed it or not, they couldn't speak anyway so it was useless if they did. Jackie didn't care about what he was doing and just helped him on the side. When the two of them were finally out, Jackie shoot the metal near the kerosene gallon. The spark of the bullets when it hits the metal caused fire. And after a few seconds, the fire caught the curtains and other flammable materials.

Ryden and his man was still alive and screaming from pain but Travis turned around and walked away, leaving the burning house, akin to a hell that he pulled out from who-knows-where. The fire engulfed the house and soon, the voice could no longer be heard.

Travis drove the car and they went back to the mansion first. They needed to change their clothes and wash themselves before they'd go back to the hospital.

Travis was standing in the middle of their bedroom. He looked miserable with all the messy hair, weary eyes and stains of blood everywhere on his shirt and pants.

He immediately took a shower to refresh himself, change his clothes after and drove back to the hospital with Jackie. By the time he finished his matter, it was past midnight already.

Lucian also received a call from one of his colleagues that an arson was committed somewhere and there were two people who died from the incident. He knew who caused it but he doesn't have any evidence and he wasn't planning to bust them as well. In the end, he let them take care of it, making plausible excuses just to make sure that he won't be part of the investigation.

"How is she?" Travis asked the moment he arrived. Lucian was leaning on the wall with his hands in his pocket. Thomas was sitting on the bench with Gabriel sitting on his wheelchair beside him. Riley was covered with plasters and gauze due to the wounds she got from the shards of the glass earlier and Shein was sitting beside her, worry and fear were reflecting on his face.

"She will stay in the ICU until she gains consciousness. They needed to observe her to make sure that she will be fine. Even though the operation was successful, her numbers on the chart weren't looking good." Riley responded to her brother-in-law.

Travis looked at the pale face of his wife through the glass window. She's got so many things attached to her and he hates looking at her like that. After observing her for quite sometime, he left the place and went to the premature baby area.

The nurse saw him and went out to talk to him. "Mr. Madrigal, do you want to see your child closely? We didn't get the chance to have you see him since you left earlier. If you don't mind, you can check on him for a couple of minutes."

Travis nodded his head and followed the nurse inside. He put on the hospital gown, the mask and gloves for sanitary purposes. 'God, he is very small. Are all babies like him? I think I can carry him in one arm.' Travis thought as he placed his index finger on to the small hand of their child. "Raizel Xavier. Our little angel." He mumbled and warmth slowly came back in his eyes. A genuine smile was hanging on his lips and he was grinning from ear to ear as he played with the child's hand even though the baby wasn't responding to him.

"Until when is he going to stay here?" Travis asked. He read a lot of books about parenting but he didn't read anything about premature babies. He didn't want to make his own conjectures as well specially that it was the life of his child that was on the line.

"Baby Raizel will stay here for a month and two weeks. One month to let him fully develop himself. Two weeks for observation to make sure that the baby is doing well. Premature babies are prone to several risks and we want to make sure that the babies will be fine before handing them back to their parents."

"Can I visit him everyday?"

"Yes, sir. You have few minutes to see your baby everyday."

"Thank you. I will leave him in your care."

"No problem, Mr. Madrigal."

After few minutes, Travis left the nursery ward and went back to the ICU where Jillyanna was staying. He asked everyone to leave and take a rest while he stayed to guard them.

Instead of a Merry Christmas with the whole family, the atmosphere at home wasn't merry at all. Everyone was gloomy and Jade wasn't even saying anything. The lovely and cheerful girl they have was now quiet and sad.

Jade couldn't go back to sleep anymore. She was worried about her mother and whenever she closed her eyes, she could see her mother lying in a pool of blood.

Travis was the same. He was wide awake in the hospital, not even a wink of sleep was given to him, or rather, he didn't want to take a wink of sleep. Afraid that Jillyanna would be gone the moment he close his eyes.

Shein visited the hospital to bring him food and a change of clothes. He wanted to check the condition of his sister before going to work as well. He needed to work in place of his brother-in-law who will be staying in the hospital. One of them should work and guard the empire.

"Bro, I will deal with the company today. Just take a rest while looking after my sister." Shein mentioned as he handed him the bags which contained several clothes.

"Thank you. I am-"

'BEEP! BEEP! BEEP! BEEP!'

The sound was alarming and Dr. Alison came running towards the ICU. Jillyanna was convulsing and the numbers on her chart were rapidly decreasing!

"Please hang in there. Please don't leave me, Jill. Please wake up! Jill." Travis whispered while he took hold of her hand. When the doctors came, he also rushed inside to see her. Since it was a little critical, they wanted to have someone who can talk with Jillyanna while they were trying to revive her. Doctors still believe that patients could hear even during these kind of moments. "Jill, don't leave me. Don't leave our child. You want to become a mother, right? Come back to me, please. I'm begging you." His tears fell on the back of her hands. He was afraid. He was afraid of losing her once again.

"One Two Three clear!" Dr. Alison was trying her best to revive her. "Keep pumping!" She reminded the nurse who was holding the oxygen. "C'mon Jillyanna, fight it. Don't just die!" She wasn't worried about her reputation if news goes out about her failure. What she was afraid of was, failing the woman who gave the heart. She didn't want to fail Lyla and Jillyanna. She wanted them to live.
