Chapter 332 - SENSE OF HEARING

She was so engrossed with her mocking thoughts that she didn't hear Gabriel calling her name.

"Winter wait!" Gabriel called out but Winter kept on walking. Although she was walking slowly, Gabriel was still having a hard time with his wheelchair. "F*ck this woman!" Gabriel cursed and stop chasing after her. "Can you help me grab her and make her stop?" Gabriel asked the night watchmen who had not walked away yet.

Not waiting for him to say it twice, the jogged towards Winter and caught her.

Winter was so startled that she didn't have the time to wipe her tears or school her face. 'This is embarrassing!' She shouted to herself internally once again. "What are you doing?! Let go of me!" If they weren't part of this village, she would have kicked them to get away.

"Gabriel was calling for you." One of the men who caught her spoke.

"If you want to say something, just say it directly! What are you mumbling about?!" She was so angry that she couldn't stop herself from yelling at them.

The two men who caught her looked at each other like something nerve-wracking happened. They didn't say anything though but they helped her turn around and face Gabriel.

Her anger had not subsided yet. She was so upset and angry that he mocked her earlier about swimming in the river when in fact, it was because of him that she fell.

"Aren't you done mocking me?! Go ahead and do it in one go so I can leave peacefully." she pulled her arms abruptly and freed herself from their hold. She couldn't care less about the coldness anymore. She didn't even care that she looked so messy with her blood soaking into her clothes. Her wounds were reopened but she didn't care about the pain. It was nothing compared to the sounds of her heart being broken into tiny bits of pieces.

"Come with me. You look horrible with your dirty clothes and messy hair." Gabriel responded after looking at her.

"What are you mumbling about in front of me?! If you want to say something just say it! I don't need you to whisper." Winter snapped at him which stunned Gabriel and the other two men.

Gabriel frowned for a while but his lips suddenly raised into a sneer and his eyes glint with coldness.

"Is this another part of your act? Refusing to listen so I could chase after you?" Gabriel snickered while eyeing her up and down. "Don't waste your effort, I won't fall for these tricks."

Winter rolled her eyes and turned to leave. "Since you don't have anything to say, I'm leaving."

She looked around to find the village chief's house where she was told to stay for few days with Valkyrie. She didn't look back to see if Gabriel was still there. She just wanted to leave and at try to fix her heart again.

On the other hand, Gabriel just watched her walk away. He clenched his hands into fists and maneuvered his wheelchair to turn around and went back to his house.

"I messed up again." Gabriel murmured to himself. "I didn't really want to say those words. I really just want to tend to her wounds." He sighed to himself while covering his face with his hands. "I'll apologize tomorrow." With that goal set in his mind, Gabriel went to his bed to get some sleep.

Meanwhile, Winter walked back to the village chief's house in silence. Valkyrie woke up when she came in which made her smile faintly, one that didn't reach her eyes.

"I was enticed by the clear river and took a short time to swim with the fish. Don't worry about me, I'm fine. I'll take care of my wounds."

Valkyrie didn't get the chance to speak as he watched her go back inside her room. She was clearly lying to him.

Winter undress herself and saw her wounds and bruises from the incident at the cliff-side. "How unlucky! I almost died from falling at the cliff-side and now I fell in the river. Maybe I'm not really a match for him so heavens are punishing me."

She rummaged through the drawers and found some anti-biotic cream and some gauze. She took a second bath in the small comfort room and cleaned her wounds before applying the cream.

Everytime she thought of something to mend their relationship, he would just crash it with his mockery. After the heart-breaking mockery she received earlier, Winter cried herself to sleep.

Early in the morning, Gabriel went to visit her and Valkyrie as he planned to apologize to her. Since she was so persistent to bring him back, he decided to give their relationship a chance. And to achieve that, he needed to apologize first.

"What brings you here? Are you here to see Winter?" Valkyrie asked happily while leading him inside. The village chief and his family were already awake and were having their morning coffee while some of them prepared their breakfast.

"I'm indeed here to see Winter. Is she still sleeping?"

"Hn. She came back late last night after having a short swim with the fishes."

Gabriel winced at the response he received. It was clearly him who said those mocking words to her.

"If you want, I can send you to her room so you can wait for her to wake up there." Valkyrie suggested, throwing a playful wink at him.

"Nope. I will wait for her here." Gabriel responded and went to the village chief to talk about their village security.

Not long after, they heard a crashing sounds from Winter's room. Worried about her, Valkyrie ran and knocked on her door. "Winter? Winter, are you okay?" No one answered him. "Winter what happened?" Still a silent response.

Left with no choice, with his close eyes, Valkyrie opened the door and prayed that Winter won't kick him from getting inside her room without permission.

When he opened his eyes, Winter's phone was broken on the floor and she was crying in a corner like a child.

"I...I..can't hear anymore..."
