Chapter 322 - UNEXPECTED MEETING

Jackie was sent to the hospital to get her wounds treated. After an hour of pretending to be unconscious, she opened her eyes and looked around the room.

She could hear Lucian talking to someone outside her hospital room. "I guess, this has settled everything?" she questioned herself with a sly smile. "Acting is really not my forte. It's tiring!" she mumbled helplessly as she looked over her visible wounds and bruises.

"Thanks god you're awake." Lucian exclaimed with relief when he got inside the room to find her awake at the moment. "How are you feeling?"

"I'm perfectly fine." Jackie answered honestly since she didn't want to lie to someone important to Jillyanna. "Did someone deal with the school princess already?"

"Hm. Vincent escorted her to jail."

"Vincent? Why was he there? Wasn't he suppose to stay and do his work in the regional city jail?"

"Well, he was partly involved in this matter. We found out that she planned these things all along out of jealousy against you. I don't know who sent those videos to us but the Academy is under investigation now."

"It was Shein who sent it." Jackie told him the truth. "I knew someone was plotting something against me but I don't know who. I asked Shein to monitor the school in case something happens to me."

"How did you end up in that state though? From what I know, you are a fighter."

"I am but I don't want to use my skills against helpless shrimps. I tried so hard to get into this school and I don't want anyone messing with me."

Lucian didn't know whether to laugh or cry at her foolishness. She could've fought to avoid herself beaten to her current state but she acted like someone helpless in front of everyone.

The school princess was actually the daughter of the neighboring city's mayor. She was spoiled since she was young and she always got her way with everything.

She had bullied so many students and other people in the past but being a mayor's daughter, her mess were covered up like they didn't exist.

Vincent was sitting in front of her with his legs crossed in relaxing yet imposing manner. Veronica, the school princess, was getting paler as the time went by. Officer Nik had her watch the recordings that he received in the morning. Even though it was clear as day that she was the perpetrator, they still have to go through protocol and procedures.

"Vincent, why exactly did you bring me here?" Veronica asked with a pale complexion. Her voice was soft and almost-like a whisper yet she didn't deny the videos in front of her.

"My friend here, Nik, wanted to see you and me." Vincent answered which was actually the truth. They wanted to see them but she omitted the reason why they wanted to.

Veronica clenched her hands into a lump of fist. She was trembling with anger but she held herself together and looked defiant. "The reason why he wanted to see us is because of this video, right? Are you all accusing me that I did this?"

"You have the right to remain silent and wait for your lawyer. However, we have to let you stay here while we investigate this matter." Nik told her while documenting the details of this crime.

Vincent just watched her on the sideline, no intention of helping and no intention of speaking for her.

He rose to his feet and made a respectful bow towards Nik. "I'll have to visit Jackie in the hospital and go back to work. Let me know the result of this investigation soon."

"Sure. Send my regards to Jackie." Nik stated while keeping an eye to the woman in front of them.

For the first time in her life, she felt helpless over something she did herself. She never expected that Jackie was close to the well-known officers in the city. She didn't know anything about her and still committed a grievance mistake.

Vincent left the police station and drove his car to the hospital were Jackie was admitted. Before he arrived, Jillyanna, Travis and Shein came over to check on her. Even though they knew she was alright, they couldn't just overlook this matter.

"I knew you're silly but you don't have to be silly to this extent. You should have fought her. Why did you let her touch? You have so many ways to deal with her without getting these bruises and wounds." Jillyanna reprimanded with indignant expression.

"Sis, I made up my mind not to use my strength against my fellow students. Besides, I let her do it intentionally. I'm not a masochist to enjoy a beating you know." Jackie responded with a poker face.

"Riley would be angry if she knows this." Shein stated beside her. "I'm only allowing you to do this once. Don't ever let this happen to you again."

"Hn. I'll make sure...to..who's there?" Jackie's eyes strayed towards the door when she heard someone stopped his/her track in front of her room.

Vincent who was just about to knock the door stopped nervously but when he heard her voice, he built up his courage and opened the door, only to find several pairs of eyes looking at him.

"Uh..Hi!" he greeted them with a faint smile, anxious and nervous at the same time. "I'm Vincent Ruiz, uh..Jackie's friend."

"Friend?" Travis asked with inquiring gaze.

"Uh..yeah." He wasn't even sure if he can call himself her friend but he didn't know what his relationship to her either. "This is for you." Vincent handed her a bouquet of flowers, his back sweating coldly and he even felt his hands tremble.

He wasn't even this nervous when he took the National Exam or when he faced an enemy before but now, he felt like digging a hole and hide.

He knew Jillyanna, the sister-in-law of Lucian and the co-owner of Summer Cafe as well as the Internet idol. He knew Travis Madrigal, the one and only heir to all the businesses that the Madrigal owned. Lucian was his friend and a well-known police officer. Her twin sister, Riley, was an actress.

Meeting these people as part of her circle, he was so anxious that they wouldn't like him.

'Why is your family made of these big shots?!' Vincent wanted to cry at this thought right this moment.
