Chapter 313 - HER HEART

Travis and Brown were sighing the whole time since they left the hospital. Both of them worried and their minds were already working as to what they can do to help Jillyanna.

Hearing another sigh from them, Jillyanna rolled her eyes and glared to both men. "Can you stop sighing already? It's not like your sighs can change anything, right?"

"Aren't you worried?" Travis asked her. His eyes were holding so much emotions keeping Jillyanna hooked in silence.

She took a deep breath and shifted her gaze to the view outside the car. Building and cars were getting sparse as they drove back to their house. Trees and flowers were showing more and more which were lovely in her eyes.

"Worrying over this matter won't do me any good. Worrying will affect my baby. I've been worried for a long time already and I decided to let fate do its work."

She clearly remembered what the doctor said earlier. "We can put you on the list for a heart transplant but there are over 20 patients that came before you. Our policy is 'first come, first serve' basis no matter how rich you are. Besides, why did you even get yourself pregnant when you knew that this would happen?"

Jillyanna didn't answer the doctor's question. She didn't know why either. All that she knew was to get a baby for herself and live her life as a mother. She always wanted to become a mother.

"What if we find ourself a heart donor, will she get the operation earlier?" Travis asked in which both the doctor and Brown shook their heads. "Why?"

"If she gets an operation, the baby will die. Either we abort the baby or you will kill the baby with the medications." the doctor honestly told them the truth of the consequence.

Travis slumped on the back of his seat with helpless gaze. Jillyanna felt a pang in her heart when she saw him like this.

"If I can still hold on, after giving birth, I can still get a heart transplant, right?" Jillyanna asked even though she knew it was possible.

"Yes you can, given that there is a heart ready for you during that time."

Although there was a little hope, Jillyanna didn't want to cling on to that hope to avoid disappointing herself.

Travis watched his wife stare into space. Even though she said that she wasn't worried, it was clear as day on her face that she was worried like them.

"We'll figure out a way." Brown spoke to pull them back together. Jillyanna wasn't even dead but the atmosphere was so heavy like they were mourning.

"Hn. We'll definitely find a way. If not now, then I'll hold on until I give birth to my precious baby." Jillyanna smiled cheerfully which squeezed Travis' heart even more.

He hugged her in his arms since he's got no other way to comfort her. "I'll find a way. I'll make sure that you live." Travis whispered while kissing the top of her head.

"I know." Jillyanna buried her face on his chest, inhaling his scent to calm her mind and heart. She didn't want to think about any negative things. She just want to think about the man beside her right now.

When they got home, Valkyrie greeted them with a cheeky grin. Jillyanna and Travis looked at each other before looking towards Brown whose mouth was twitching.

It was obvious that he wanted to smack Valkyrie on his face. He face-palmed himself and walked towards him. "Did you do what I asked you to do?"

"Yup. Winter is currently in the study room with Shein." Valkyrie answered happily, eager to receive his prize after dinner. "How about we skip dinner and you give me my prize?" he whispered close to Brown's ear which earned him a light punch on his gut.

"Don't mess with me." Brown glared at him before looking at Jillyanna and Travis who was sitting in the living room. He let another sigh escape his mouth before going up stairs. "Come with me."

Even though it was Brown taking the initiative to hold him, Valkyrie wasn't happy at all. By looking the their faces, he knew something bad happened or that Jillyanna's condition was worse than expected.

Valkyrie didn't have the mood to tease him anymore. He followed him silently and closed the door of their room behind him. "Is it getting worse?" He asked which Brown just nodded while he took off his coat. "How long does she have?"

"We didn't ask. We didn't want to know. However, one thing is for sure. If Jillyanna won't get a heart transplant, she'll die."

Valkyrie sat on their bed with a sigh. He's the third person to sigh in this matter. "I'll call dad. Since you know about medical stuff, it would be best that you talk to him."

"Me? Seriously? Are f*cking kidding me?!" Brown threw a fuss over such easy task. Well, it wasn't easy for him. Since Valkyrie talked to his father about their relationship, Brown never called Dr. Anderson again. He'd rather die than talk to him. It's scary!

Looking at his horrified expression, Valkyrie was amused and chuckling. He never saw him so flustered until now. "Is it so difficult to talk to our father? Before he became your in-law, he was your foster father and you were even so close to him. Why are you afraid now?"

"You're really asking me this question? Do you want me to hack you to death?" Brown glared at him from frustration. Even if someone pays him to talk to Dr. Anderson, he'll never do it.

"If you will talk to him, I'll let you off with our deal this morning." Valkyrie added but Brown remained statued on his ground. "Oh? So you'd rather do it than talk to our father?"

"Shut up, you idiotic monkey!" Brown yelled at him and stormed out of the room. He didn't have the courage to talk to Dr. Anderson yet. "Why did it even come to this? Dr. Anderson is scary when he's angry. What if he'll skin me alive?" he murmured to himself while sulking at the foot of their door.
