Chapter 275 - YOU CHOSE TO FORGET HIM

Travis heard several doctors coming to his aid. He let them do whatever they needed to do but he was on guard against all them.

"Can you raise your hand?" The doctor asked him which Travis did. He raised his hands up and down. "Can you move your legs slowly from side to side? Can you move your toes? Can you blink your eyes? Can open your mouth? Can you.."

The doctor asked so many things while looking at Travis' wounds and the movement of his eyes. He was observing the expression on his face which was blank and cold most of the time.

"This is the first time you've woken up this long. You might still feel some pain in your head, arms and legs due to your heavy injuries. Nonetheless, you are doing perfectly fine." The doctor told him after all the necessary check up he performed. He looked around the room and found that Jillyanna wasn't around. "The most important thing now is to check if you have forgotten anyone. First, what's your name?"

Travis frowned but he still chose to answer him. "Travis Madrigal, 27, owned Venus Plaza and J Entertainment. No parents."

"Uhh..well, the last thing is a bit wrong. You still have your father."

"What's my father's name?"

"Thomas Madrigal." answered the doctor. "Do you remember getting married?"

Travis just looked at the doctor with a blank expression once again.

Valkyrie who witnessed everything called everyone to get in touch with Jillyanna but even Shein couldn't find her. They didn't know where she exactly went but the twins and Shein got a feeling to where she was.

The three of them boarded the car which came to pick them up and visited the hospital around 8 o'clock in the morning. Savannah and everyone were also present including Jillyanna's family.

While they were smiling from being relieved, Jillyanna was sulking because of her bruises. She needed to get back as soon as possible because Travis could wake up anytime again. She wanted to be there for him and talk to him.

"Thinking about your husband again?" Winter asked who was reading an astrological book that she found somewhere.

"Who should I think if not my husband? You should think of Gabriel as well. You don't even try yourself to remember him."

"I remember him." Winter stated softly which came out almost a whisper from her lips. "I remember the boy who promised to grow up and join the army to protect me. I remember the boy who would always carry me on his back when I don't feel like walking. I remember the boy who carved our names on the tree bark. I remember the boy who would often argue with Travis just because Travis won't let me play with his violin; in the end I played it and broke a string. I remember everything about him during the mission in the laboratory. But Jill, I won't tell him."

Listening to her, Jillyanna rolled her eyes and scoffed. "Even if you want to tell him, you won't get the chance."

"What do you mean?" Winter put down the book and looked at her friend who was lying on the bed, covered in bruises.

The lingering scent of the herbs and oils used to her Jillyanna wafted to her nose but Winter felt slightly uncomfortable on her seat.

Jillyanna looked up at the ceiling before opening her mouth to speak again. "He left. I found out about this on the day that the twins came at the hospital. They actually knew Gabriel a long time ago. Riley told me that he would often follow you around without you knowing. He even called Travis for you when you get drunk from being heart broken."

"Why didn't I know of this?" Winter asked the question mostly to herself because she was ignorant and foolish.

"Why would he tell you? He wanted to keep his promise to you - the promise of protection. Even if he would tell you, you won't believe him. You forgot him right? When he brought you to several places you refused him because you will only remember your ex-fiancee."

"You don't have to make me feel guilty than I already am." Winter joked but deep inside her guilt was eating her heart already. "I can't help it, I didn't mean to lose my memory, okay?"

"I know but you could've tried yourself to remember. Perhaps, there were unpleasant things that would hurt you but it was also painful to the person that you chose not to remember him. Anyway, there's no point telling you these."

"Hey! What exactly is going on? Why did you tell me that I won't get the chance to tell him how I feel?!"

"Because it's too late. He went to Pantar."

Winter, just like her name, her heart was coated with so much snow and cold wind. She stood statued to the ground with the news she got. "Pantar? You're kidding me! Anyone who went there in the past died! It's basically a suicide! The anti-government groups won't let them escape!"

"That's the exact reason why you won't get a chance? Didn't you go back to the base? Why didn't you know about this?"

Winter cursed herself over and over again for what happened. She chose to forget the person who truly cared about her. He was trying his best to make her remember him but she refused to do so. Now she did remember him but he's nowhere near her and the chance of him returning alive was very slim.

She picked up her bags and other belongings to go back to the base. "I'll go back now since you already get what you need. I'll visit Travis some other times."

Jillyanna didn't say anything, just watching her pack her things and go out of the room. "Chances are; he's mutilated or he's dead. It's impossible to escape such place unless someone from the enemy camp helps you leave." Jillyanna murmured even though her friend could no longer hear her.

In Jillyanna's perspective, Gabriel accepted the mission because he knew that no one needed him anymore. And a person with that kind of thinking isn't afraid to die.
