Chapter 148 - WHO CONFESSED FIRST

The farmer told the police about what he saw. However, when they came to check on the place, there wasn't a cave at all.

Confused and scared as he was, the farmer didn't meddle on such matter anymore. Even if he wanted to help, no one believed him and they couldn't find the place either.

He thought everything would just stop there but he was wrong. Screams and cries of agony assaulted his ears. He wanted to help them but he didn't know who to reach.

It was a month after the farmer told the police of what he witnessed that Major General Calhoun's intel found this issue. His team don't just deal with military affairs. They also helped the police solve some cases that they couldn't handle.

Savannah was the one who contacted the farmer and talked about the case. He swear with his life that he wasn't telling a lie. Savannah believed him as well because there's no way for a farmer who's abundant in different crops to lie regarding this matter.

Hawk scouted the place for two days while leaving some small cameras around the area. So far, after a week of monitoring, there was no positive result.

This was the next case that was given to them after that drug raid. Even if they wanted to take a short vacation, lives were at stake and Savannah didn't like people to suffer just like how she suffered back then.

"I haven't seen any changes in the place. Let me check on Travis if he needed any help with his documents. Call me if you notice something." Savannah tapped Hawk's shoulder before leaving.

Hawk just watched her back before turning his head again to the huge screen. There were 12 cameras on the target location and one of them was placed not far from the farmer's house to keep him safe.

Travis signed some documents that got his approval while he set aside those that he think was good but needs adjustment.

Savannah knocked on the door before coming inside. "Do you need help with those?"

"No but thanks. I'm okay with all these. How's your investigation going?"

"Still stuck without any leads. Hawk and I will check on the place again tomorrow."

"Be careful this time. I personally think that you're against a psychopathic killer this time."

"I agree on that point. I wonder why they can't find the place."

"You mean the police?"

"Yes. The farmer led them to the place where he saw the guy throwing a sack that was found with a dead body later on. However, they couldn't find any cave."

"It's either he covered the cave, the place was different or he's using something to trick your eyes."

"That's my hunch as well which is why I wanted to check the place personally."

"I'll ask uncle to give you guys a week of vacation after this mission." He knew how tired their work is and he didn't want them to die from exhaustion.

"That would be great. Calhoun is just so stingy with time." Savannah snickered while thinking about the old man.

She talked to Travis about some things and got some useful information to resolve this case. "Why didn't you pursue the military affairs? You'd be very great just like your cousin."

"It's not what I like."

"I see. Well, thanks for your help. Here I was thinking I could help you but it's actually the other way around." Savannah chuckled as she left the study room. "Don't forget to wake her up." she reminded him just before closing the door.

Travis checked his watch and found that it was more than two hours already since Jillyanna slept. He arranged the documents as fast as he could and closed his laptop before going back to their room.

He opened the door slowly and found her sleeping soundly on their bed. He kissed her face while calling her name.

"Jill wake up."

"Still sleepy." she murmured and slid under the blanket, covering her whole body.

"My dear wife, you have not taken your lunch and the baby is hungry."

This statement was very effective to her and she tried her best to open her eyes. How long did I sleep?"

"Two hours and few minutes." He pulled her up to help her sit on the bed. "Come on. You need to eat."

"I know. I'm awake."

"What do you want to eat?" Travis asked her while helping her stand so she can wash her face in the bathroom.

Getting inside the bathroom made her remember what was done earlier and she felt embarrassed about it. She washed her face with cold water to wake her up completely before brushing her teeth.

"I want to eat pork chop and sweet corn."

"What's with that combination?"

"I don't know. I just want to eat it."

"Alright. I'll have someone buy some sweet corns if we don't have one."

"Yay! You're the best." Jillyanna ran to him and kissed his face quickly before going out of the room.

Travis was left statued on his place from what she did. She wasn't like other lovers who would often express how she feels but in her own little ways, she'll make him feel that he's someone important to her.

He just smiled and came out of the room to follow her in the kitchen. She was already sitting on a chair, munching some sliced apples and oranges.

"My little hamster sure likes to stun me with her charms." Travis commented when he appeared.

"Of course. I need my charm so you won't go."

"I won't go anywhere."

"I know. I'm just reminding you."

"Silly." he rubbed her head, messing up her hair but she didn't mind it. "I have always remembered it. I love you Jill."

"Thanks." she replied casually.

"Why won't you say you love me, too?" Travis asked her while opening the refrigerator.

"I told you already but you didn't accept it."

"When? I didn't hear you say that."

"Trust me I did and I won't say it again least I get rejected."

"I didn't reject you."

"You did and don't make me recall it or you will be sleeping outside tonight." Jillyanna glared at him and spoke through gritted teeth.

'This dumb bloke! How could he say that I didn't tell him?! Wasn't I the first who confessed to him?!' she added mentally in annoyance.
