Chapter 60 - ELIZABETH'S PAST VI

Pain. So much pain. She could hardly breath from sobbing. She had to keep her voice low in order not to disturb her daughter.

"Why are you doing this to me? Why didn't you wait for me? Why didn't you trust me? Why is this happening to us?!" she mumbled to herself. She punched her pillow and threw it on the floor. Her heart was breaking into millions of pieces. She had tried calling him but his phone was turned off. She couldn't leave the house because her child was sickly.

This was what Jillyanna saw. She didn't make any noise but her tears were falling while she watched her mother cried. She sat on the wall outside her door so that she won't see her.

"Enzo, is this really the best for us! I left you and now my husband left me, too. Is this what they called karma? Was it so bad to sacrifice myself for you? Couldn't I be happy? I just want us to be happy. Why? Why is this happening? Why won't anyone give me an answer?!" she was overwhelmed with pain and anger that she flung the bedside lamp on the floor. It was a complete mess.

Jillyanna didn't move or confront her mother. When she felt a sudden pain in her chest, she went downstairs and pour herself a glass of water.

She knew who Enzo was. Her mother would sometimes bring her to a place and watch a man from afar. However, whenever she saw him smile to someone, Jillyanna felt uncomfortable so she would hurry her mom to leave the place. She had heard her auntie Venus spoke of that man and describe him, so she was certain it was that person.

She maybe sickly and small but she got a powerful braincells. That's what her father would always tell her.

The next day, her mother brought her to the city. She had a large and dark glasses covering half of her face. Jillyanna was wearing a small cap to cover her from the sun's rays.

The guard greeted her as well as the staff. "Good morning madam."

"Morning." Elizabeth greeted back at them. Since she was wearing glasses, no one could see her expressionless eyes.

She pressed the elevator button to the topmost floor. After few minutes, she arrived at his office. She had been to his office even before so the staffs knew her already.

"Excuse me madam. Are you here for the boss?" his secretary asked her awkwardly.

"Yes. Why?"

"Well, boss left last night for a business trip." his secretary answered.

Elizabeth feign ignorance and scratched her nose. "Oh shoot! I thought the activity was today. I completely forgot. I was so excited for it."

"I will inform boss that you came here."

"That's fine."

She left as soon as she could while holding her tears from falling. She was glad that no one knew about their situation which made it easy for her to find an excuse.

"Mommy?" Jillyanna couldn't contain her thoughts anymore and called her mom.

Elizabeth put her inside the car first before going to the driver's seat. "Yes, sweetheart?"

"No. It's nothing. I forgot it already." Honestly, she wanted to know when her father would come back home but she shut her mouth.

Base on her mother's action, it's most likely that she will grow up without her father anymore. She wanted to cry with the thought but she can't. She must stay strong for her mother.

"Mommy?" she called out again.

"Yes sweetie?" her mother was always patient to her. She didn't turn on the engine yet, no plan to leave the place as of the moment.

"Mommy, who is Enzo? Didn't you love father?" Even though she knew who Enzo was, she wanted to confirm it with her mom.

"Enzo was a special person in the past. However, I only love your daddy. Will you be in the world if I don't love your dad?"

"I knew it. Daddy is the number one in your heart."

"Of course silly girl." she reached out her hand and rubbed her head.

"We will wait for your daddy to return."

They waited for a week, a month, a year until so much time passed that Jillyanna turned twelve years old already.

She still believed that her father would come back to them. She never stopped believing in him.

Elizabeth would always clean his things even though no one was going to use it. She would sleep later during the night to wait for him but Anton never came home.

One time, a person came with some documents in his hand. It was the deed of the house and lot. Jillyanna listened at the side while her mother spoke to the man.

"I won't change the name. I want Anton's name on the document. I want to be reminded that what I have belongs to him." her mother stated and returned the papers back to him.

He looked towards Jillyanna but she shook her head. "I want my father's name on it. In any case, no one can take the house and lot from us since he was legally married to my mom and the will said it should be changed to our name. As long as it won't be changed to someone else, this will remain our house."

The man was shock that she knew a lot but it was also great to keep things safe. He didn't spend so much time with them and left the house. He gave them the documents and Elizabeth placed it on his vault together with the divorce papers.

Jillyanna could clearly see her mother's wrinkles. She looked older compared to some people of her age. She had been so stressed out over her missing father but she won't say a thing.

She waited and waited and waited and waited. She waited for years but he never came. Until the moment she closed her eyes, all she could think of was her husband, Anton Xavier.
