Chapter 140 - LuXin Fraternity (1)

"That's the intersection. We should park here," Sofia quickly spotted the building that she was planning to convert as their business. There was only one light bulb in front that was functioning. The rest of the building was totally dark.

"The owner should install many lights. This is why his establishment is being terrorized by the gangsters. If it's not dark here, there is no way anyone would expose their identity and fight," Sofia added criticizing the single light bulb in the place.

Stephen remained silent as he scanned the entire place. There were four men in their early twenties that were sitting in the gutter just in front of the closed establishment.

If these men would cross the road, they would easily see his car. But, for some reason, the four men were looking in one direction. They were string at the other side of the road as if waiting for someone to come.

"Let's go nearer," Stephen muttered and moved closer to the area. His car then stopped at the post where the street light was not working. Stephen's bodyguard trailed and parked parallel to them.

"Ahh... and the government is not paying attention to maintaining this street light. They should replace this bulb so that this area is not dark," Sofia continued to voice out her criticisms.

Stephen's body vibrated while slightly laughing towards Sofia's reaction. She sounded like someone who was making a thorough evaluation of the management of the officials that were in charge in the downtown area.

"I can only see one problem why this place will turn a warzone at night. It's because of this lack of lights," Sofia speculated as her eyes were darted to the other street lights that were not functioning too.

"Maybe those gangsters purposely destroyed the lightings in this area," Stephen suggested.

"That's also possible. Hmmm... It's 10 pm," Sofia stated and looked around. The street was completely empty. A small yawn escaped from her lips.

Out of a sudden, another car parked behind the car where Stephen's bodyguard was staying. But the two did not notice and the bodyguards did not also alert them.

On the other block, Clark's car also stopped at an empty street. It was just the three of them and a driver. There were no bodyguards that had accompanied them. However, there were few people who had observed them from afar.

"I have never explored our district this empty. Sofia and I always play online games at night. This is the first time that I kind of feel that this street is like an abandoned place," Claire started as suddenly felt like they were in a desolate place.

"This street is called the brawl intersection. It's because some unfinished business by fraternities and gangs is usually done here. So, people purposely avoided this street," Joey explained.

"Ohh, I see. Did Stephen said where are they now?" Claire asked while glancing at Clark.

"Sofia said they are already here. But, they are park on the other block," Stephen mumbled as he saw Sofia's message informing him of their location.

Their car swiftly moved and turned to another corner. Then, the speed slowed down as they approached the post of the street light.

"Is that them? Why are there other cars?" Joey asked while looking at the two other cars parked in parallel.

Three cars were parked parallel near a light post. It was a few meters away and Sofia did not mention that they had companions.

In an instant, Clark dialed Sofia's number and the call connected right away...

"Sof, there are three cars in the location that you sent me," Clark quickly reported.

"Three cars," Sofia frowned and then looked at the back. However, she could only see the car behind them with the bodyguards of Stephen.

"Yes, there are three cars. Which car are you in?" Clark inquire.

"The one in the very front, beside the street light with a broken lightbulb," Sofia answered.

"Ohh, then, these other two cars?" Clark asked feeling a little worried that the two cars were members of the gangsters in the area.

"Stephen brought a bodyguard. They are in the car next to us. For the last car, I don't know. Wait..." Sofia said and then asked Stephen, "How many bodyguards did you exactly bring? There are two other cars in our back, according to Clark."

"Only the one in the car. Don't mine the other car, they are just possibly here to see the gang fights," Stephen stated with no hint of nervousness in his voice.

Sofia nodded her head and returned her attention to her call. "Clark, don't mind the third car. Just be alert."

"Okay, we will park behind this unknown car," Clark said and ended their conversation.

Claire and Joey were able to hear Sofia on the phone, hence, Clark did not need to relay her message to them.

They remained vigilant but they could not see anything from their position.

"AHH, since this place is empty, let's just double park," Clark initiated.

The driver did not say a word and moved the vehicle next to Stephen's car.

Finally, they saw the men sitting in the gutter. And since the area where they parked was dark, nobody had paid much attention to them.

"This is not the gangsters. Those men are frat boys. Look at their shirts," Joey told the group. The men had a red and strange symbol on their upper garments that hinted to the onlookers that it was their uniform.

"Ohh, so, what is it exactly? Is it a fight between fraternity and gangs?" Clark inquired and waved at the window where Sofia was waving at them.

"I am not sure. But, that might be the case," Joey stated and also waved at Sofia. But they did not exchange any conversation. Just their gesture was enough to understand the message they wanted to convey.

After several minutes of waiting, another group of men wearing black hoodies was marking from the dark alley.

"These should be the rival fraternity," Joey continued to speculate after seeing that the newcomers were wearing different uniforms.

"Those people in black jackets were somewhat familiar. I think that they are wearing a uniform from the club of our school. That tech club?" Clark suddenly mentioned after realizing that there was a sense of familiarity with the outfits of the other group.

"Ohhh, now that you mentioned it, these were really the tech club, Clark.! What are they doing here? Are they involved with the troubles in this area?" Claire inquired. She quickly recognized the club and that they specialized the technology courses.

"Let's wait and see," Joey stated and they became silent.

But, out of nowhere, the car door of Stephen's car opened and Sofia jumped out from it. Stephen followed her afterward.

"Hey! Why are you dragging the school reputation for creating troubles?" Sofia called the group that was wearing the hoodies.

She did not recognize the first men who were sitting in the gutter in front of the building. But, the second group was too familiar for her. And to think that they had the guts of using a uniform from their school, Sofia could not helo but reprimand them.

"Ohh, hey! Arent you the squad leader of the Chronos squad? Are you betting too?" one of the men asked Sofia.

"Oh, that's not right! Why would she join the gamble when she is the other end of the bet?" another one from the group expressed with a confused tone.

"What bet?" Stephen asked while closing his distance to Sofia.

"Ohh, the bet of her and Krista19. The one in the online poll. We are here to make our bets with those people," the man pointed in the direction of another group.

"Ohh, what about the gangsters here?" Sofia inquired.

"There are no gangsters---" the man stated but he was cut off by the sound of a glass bottle shattering.

"Oh my gosh, LuXin fraternity is here. What bad luck is this! Let's get out of here!" someone announced and the group quickly scrammed. Their movements were synchronized and they quickly sprinted back to the dark alley.

The other group that was wearing the same uniformed shirt stood arrogantly.

"LuXin, you said that you won't come here tonight. We are supposed to gamble and make money with the tech students!" one of the men in shirt scowled.

"I changed my mind. After all, this place is my territory," the man responded. He was wearing casual shorts and a polo shirt. If it was from a different place, Sofia would never see the man as a frat boy. His outfit looked so out of character than what Sofia had expected.

"What do we have here?" LuXin's attention shifted to Stephen and Sofia who was also looking at them.

But, after recognizing their faces, the guy broke into a wide grin. "You are that champion in the tournament! Hahaha"

LuXin laughed loudly and the dangerous expression around him vanished without a trace. At this point, he just looked like a regular friend recognizing someone he knew and respected.

"I think he is a fan of our squad? He does not look like he will harm us," Sofia looked at Stephen with a bewildered expression.
