Chapter 65 - A Brilliant Alibi

Name:Ceo Unrivaled Author:inflict
Unbeknownst to Jing Jing, two figures of man and woman were waiting for her outside the restroom. Preparing to attack her the moment she would exit from it.

"Drake, you must talk some sense with this lady! Her figure in this gym could affect our team's performance," the woman urged while pouting her lips seductively. The man nodded and kissed her.

As Jing Jing walked out, her face turned completely sullen. Her line of sight went straight to the familiar figures doing their public display of affection.

"Ahh, you really paid much value to me. Do you... perhaps, want me to formally congratulate you on your exclusive contract with this tournament?" Jing Jing stood straight with dignity.

In front of her were Drake and his new lover.

"Jing Jing, we just don't want you to make trouble. It's better if you go home. There is no need for you to congratulate us," Drake boldly suggested as if he had forgotten how he betrayed the lady.

"Of course, there is no need for me to congratulate you! After all, we both know how you get this scope! Tsk!" Jing Jing gave him a wicked smile. She was done grieving with the man's deception. All she wanted to preserve is her self-respect. Since the man wanted to challenge her, she would never cower!

"Jing Jing, we are over! Between us, there is nothing anymore! I warned you! Don't make trouble!" Drake snapped.

"I'm making trouble? Wow! Don't you a little bit of self-respect, Drake? It's the two of you waiting for me to come out! What for? To bully me? Even if there are ten of your people ganging up against me, I am not scared to face you! Clean hands do not need any washing! It's better if you don't provoke me, Drake!" Jing Jing responded with clear eyes.

"How arrogant of you, miss Jing Jing! Who do you think you are? You actually dare to talk back to the only heir of the FDS Press Company!" the woman leaned closer at Drake and hugged his arms while scolding Jing Jing for talking back at him.

"Hehe, Whatever his position in your company, it does not change my view on him. A deceiving man is not worthy of any praises! Disgusting!" Jing Jing gave the couple a meaningful smile before turning her back and walked back to the audience side.

Drake looked at her retreating figure while clenching his fist tightly. His hand was visibly shaking out of anger. For some reason, Jing Jing's last word pierced through his guts like a sharp knife.

Disgusting...

Back on the stage, the host was done announcing the next match. The status of the online bet was also projected on the large screen to give awareness to the audience.

Not only awareness, the organizers felt very proud to show off the numbers of the bet as it reached over millions already!

"This is the highest betting pool in the history of online tournaments so far! And it's still increasing! Thank you for the patronage! And thanks to the participants who had showcased their skills and abilities in the game!" the host spoke with great pride while a wild round of applause blasted from the audience.

In the middle of this announcement, Sofia's teammates quickly surrounded her with several questions about the private press. They did not pay much attention to the host and were eager to listen to Sofia instead.

"Do we really have a private press, Sof?" Clark asked with an enthusiastic face. It was such exciting news for him to know that they the kind of resources that only a few had. Even some pro players do not opt to hire private press!

Claire on the other hand was not as excited as Clark. She was more concerned about Sofia's decision to reject their interview. "Sof, I don't know your plans. But why did you refuse the interview?" she politely asked.

Joey only shrugged and commented, "I'm just confused because we have not talked about our publicity before. Maybe we will get in trouble for refusing to be interviewed by the organizers' press?"

As for Stephen, he remained silent while waiting for Sofia to speak.

"Trouble? I hope not. But the staff indeed told us that the press will cover the tournament. What's the plan, Sof?" Claire inquired. She was worried that the organizers of the tournament would target their group after their refusal.

Just as Sofia was about to speak, the team manager entered their booth without minding any formality. She does not even greet the group or ask permission for her intrusion.

"Very good! I have sent my subordinate to call your group for an interview! Yet, you declined her! The interview is part of the event. If you refused, you must be held accountable!" the team leader did not mask anger as she stepped inside the booth.

Judging by her uniform, she did not need any introduction either. The group immediately recognized that she was probably the head of the first staff that approached them.

"Hmmn, we have no accountability with the interview. Thank you for the invite though," Sofia did not bother rising from her seat. She just crossed her legs and looked at the lady in the eye with a relaxed expression.

Soon after, it was like a silent battle of intense gaze. Sofia was staring calmly at the manager while the manager was glaring at her. The rest of the Chronos squad members became quiet as they were slightly scared by the confrontation.

The manager was too rash and looked so aggressive.

However, the longer the manager stared at Sofia's clear eyes, the more she became uncomfortable being subject to her gaze. She felt as if the lady was examining even to the depth of her soul!

In the end, it was the team manager who looked away.

"You have no accountability, you say? Very well! Now I understand why you don't want to be interviewed! Looked at your ugly face full of acne!" the team manager surprisingly started to take up their argument on a personal level. She even smirked while looking at the pimples on Sofia's face.

Hearing such words, Sofia leaned her back on the sofa and adjusted her sitting position. The argument was laughable! At the same time, she could not help but traced the area where the pimples have grown on her skin.

But for some reason, a brilliant idea appeared in her mind.

The team manager just gave Sofia a solid alibi of ending their conversation while taking advantage of the words

"Yes, it is because of the pimples on my face. I am ashamed to be interviewed. Please understand!" Sofia mumbled with a glint of amusement in her eyes.

She was in fact mentally laughing at the words that she just said! Never in her mature mind, she had imagined that a day would come in her life that she would blame a pimple for her advantage!
