Chapter 258 - Jing Jing Meets Heiz (2)

"Ms. Jing Jing, the lady, and her baby accompanied Miss Sofia last night. I was on duty when they came together," the guard prompted when he noticed that Jing Jing was staring at Heiz. For some unknown reason, he could sense the doubt in Jing Jing's expression.

On the other hand, Jing Jing slowly moved her feet closer to the Heiz and peeked at her baby. The small child was wrapped in an ordinary blanket.  "The sun is up. It's perfect weather for a morning walk," she said and glanced at the sky.

"Yes, ma'am," Heiz agreed while looking in the direction of the sunrise too.

'This girl is not chatty,' Jing Jing thought. 

The quick and short response of Heiz made her stare at the girl once more.

Such expression on her face while gazing at Heiz was actually misunderstood by the guard. 

In fact, Jing Jing was not doubting Heiz. Whether she is really an employee or not, she was not bothered by it. 

Sofia could confirm the lady's employment status eventually. But, what she felt odd was that there was almost no emotion in the eyes of Heiz after seeing her.

"Alright, ladies... I shall take my leave. Enjoy the rest of the day!" the guard suddenly interrupted the growing silence between them and place the plastic full of merchandise on the side of the door.

"Thank you, sir," Heiz looked in the direction of the guard and slightly bowed her head.

The man only waved his hand and maintained a smile on his face before he turned around and walked away.

"Is Miss Sofia still asleep?" Jing Jing suddenly asked when only the two of them had remained standing outside the unit. She caught the baby stirred and yawned in her peripheral vision before she completely opened her eyes. "What beautiful eyes!" Jing Jing exclaimed as she gaped at the coral green eyes of the baby.

"Thank you! Uhhm, Sis-- I mean... Miss Sofia offered me to stay for the night in her place because it was raining. Before I sleep, she went out with her friend. She has not come back yet," Heiz replied but her attention was now on her child. 

"Oh... I see. Then, she must be with Claire playing games all night," Jing Jing speculated.

"Yes, I think they mentioned it," Heiz mumbled.

"I'll just go down to check on them. It's nice to meet you. The name is Jing Jing. I'm actually an employee of Miss Sofia too," Jing Jing stretched her hand and offer Heiz a handshake. 

"Ah, yes. I'm Heiz and my baby is named Hazel. Miss Sofia offered me the job but we haven't really discussed the full details of it. I hope she does not change her mind," Heiz shook her hand and quickly clarified her status. Technically, she was not yet an official employee for they only have a verbal discussion last night.

Seeing Jing Jing's formal attire, she could not help but compare her own clothing. 'It had been so long since I used to wear branded and authentic clothes. But now, it would seem so impossible to wear that kind of clothing.'

After her pregnancy, her situation had really shifted from the pampered lady in an upper-class society to a nobody with a baby. She could not help but sigh and felt sorry for her baby to grow up with a different childhood experience.

"What's wrong?" Jing Jing suddenly asked after being stared at by Heiz for a long time.

"Oh, no, nothing is wrong. Your clothing is fabulous!" Heiz responded.

"Ohh, thanks! Actually, you don't have to worry about Miss Sofia's decision. Since you have talked about employment, Miss Sofia must have her plans. She won't change her mind about hiring you," Jing Jing said. "You are not from this district, are you?"

Hearing Jing Jing's last question, Heiz shivered and stiffened. It was actually obvious that she was not a citizen in district 7. Because if she is, she would have recognized Jing Jing right away.

Luckily, she was wearing a facemask, or else, her pale face would totally be seen by Jing Jing. 

As for Jing Jing, it was just a casual remark, and she did not mind the question. It was more like a habit that she managed to acquire on her former job. The question just came out of her mouth out of curiosity. 

Yet, the lady actually looked tense. She was scared of the idea that people would find out about her family background. 

"Nevermind my question. I'll go check Miss Sofia now or else the press boss will explode his anger on me. See you later, Heiz!" Jing Jing added after realizing that there were urgent matters that she needed to attend to. She quickly left without waiting for Heiz to speak a word.

Heiz was relieved and stared at Jing Jing back as she suddenly ran towards the staircase until her figure was gone. 

After a while, she remembered the name Sofia mentioned as the manager of the club that they were planning to open. Jing Jing.

'AH! So, that is her? She would be the manager and I am her assistant?! How rude of me to not recognize her quickly!' Heiz panicked. She stood straight and adjusted Hazel in her arms. For a long time, she stared at the empty space where she had last seen Jing Jing.

Only after Hazel started to grab the neckline of her baggy shirt did she snap out of her thought. She glanced at her merchandise before dragging it inside Sofia's unit.

At Claire's apartment unit, Stephen was the first to react when he heard the knocking sound on the door. He was half-awake as he walked towards the door and open it.

"Stephen?" Jing Jing was surprised to see the boy.

"Oh, Ms. Jing Jing, you are here early. Come in," Stephen said and stepped in the side to let her enter the unit.

"When did you come back here in district 7?" she asked as she entered. 

"Last night. Ms. Jing Jing, we are sleeping in the living room. Shall I wake them up?" he offered.

"Ohh... I only want to speak with Miss Sofia," Jing Jing replied.

"Sofia? It's not good to disturb her sleep. I had a fever and she was taking care of me last night. Sofia sleeps at dawn," Stephen stated.

"Then, what shall I do? There is some problem with the publicity of the wedding ceremony. I need her opinion about it," Jing Jing started. Then, she immediately explained to Stephen about situation.

"If there is already a time interval arrangement, just follow it. No need to change anything. It's just a few hours after the press will clarify the identity of Brent. Can't they bear small criticisms and controversy?" Stephen told Jing Jing.

"Controversy... wow! How did I forget this matter? Boss Wang could actually use controversy as leverage to boost their web traffic and engagements online.. It's another advantage for his business! Stephen, you and Miss Sofia are really amazing! You even understand Miss Sofia's reasoning! I'll speak to boss Wang and tell him about the reason," Jing Jing spoke and quickly dialed the number of boss Wang.
