Wrik moved to the room where Dairyl was staying, the room where she taught him. But today he was not here for the lesson. It was the day of their first operation.

Arming with all the equipment he found useful, Wrik stretched a little extra on his walk. The new armour was not any bit better than the old one, but he had to work with it as the old one was unusable after his battle with Arjamith.

"Is it finished?" Wrik asked Dairyl, entering the chamber.

The gentle maiden nodded. She stood up and gave him a couple of papers inscribed with a runic pattern. "I don't know if your plan will work though."

Wrik gives the runes a second look before keeping it inside his cloak with the maha contract he bought from Sitara. He said truthfully. "There is a good chance of success, but even if it does not, it's not like we will lose."

"Well, let's go then. I think they are all waiting." Saying that, Dairyl moved ahead of him.

"Are you going as well?"

"Why not?" Dairyl said. "As you said, it won't be a long fight and if your plan works, we might not even have to fight."

"Still," Wrik tried to stop her. As he knew Dairyl did not fight, he did not know why that was, but he knew it was the truth. So her enthusiasm in coming along bugged him a little.

"You will need me there," Dairyl turned around to say. "There will be more slaves that needed to be set free.."

That was not wrong. None could break the codes in the slave brand other than her. Wrik had tried it but he still needed more understanding to succeed. On second thought, Dairyl still needed to make a trip there after their success. It would be better if she came with them just now. She would be safer with everyone else.

The two of them strode out of the cave. In the path, they met the maidens, including Lily and the three others. They were dressed in their battle gown, even the little girl Lora was standing with her spear behind them. Dairyl joined them as Lily gave him a nod.

Wrik nodded back, and they moved out. It was afternoon outside, while others were standing. Most of them were females. There was Tanya, Michelle, Sitara, and Byul, who avoided his gaze after the awkward training they had every day. Other than that, there were a few other men—the men under Sitara.

He had already sent away Anton, Davin, and Jacob with a few other men. They were probably waiting for them now.

Today was an important day for him and everyone else. Today was the day they will start their operation. And their first target was none other than Theiron, who already held quite a bit of a grudge against them.

They did not waste time either. They put their legs to work. Their destination was south—the place where Theiron had established his fortress.

Wrik, Anton, and Aeriel have searched for quite a long to find the lair of Theiron. It took them four days of relentless searching. Well, it was not that surprising. The test zone was quite broad, and Theiron did not have the balls like Scythe to announce his lair open for any challenge.

The sun, or the so-called sun, moved onto the horizon. It was probably an artificial sun or how could there be a freaking, blazing star inside the tower.

Wrik did not linger on those thoughts. Partly because he was too little to worry about the bigger picture, and they were almost reaching the designated place.

Anton and others were hiding only a couple of kilometres from the fortress. Joining the two teams together, they had less than fifty people, and almost half the number under Theiron. But Wrik was not worried. Partly because he had faith in his friends, and partly because he had confidence in his plan. More, he was not looking to conquer the fortress. Well, even if he tried, there was a chance of failure. So it was better to play smart.

Anton and Davin came forward, noticing their arrival where Jacob was keeping an eye on for any trouble.

"We will begin when it gets dark," Wrik said, looking at all of them. "Do I need to go one another round on the plan?"

Most of them shook their heads. They had already discussed this twice, repeating it more will only irritate them.

Wrik gave a satisfied nod, though he still added, "All you need is to waste some time. No need to engage directly. Just make sure to run, taking their aggression."

It did not take long for the darkness to arrive. Giving the last word to everyone else, Wrik moved away with Anton, leaving their group. He did not forget to tap Davin on the shoulder before walking.

Their plan was quite simple: Wrik and Anton would infiltrate the fortress and look for Thieron, the leader of the fortress, while all the others would keep the guards and Theiron's underlings busy.

But infiltrating was not as easy as it sounds. Anton might have no problem with his stealth skill, but Wrik was another matter. That's why they need someone to make a ruckus outside. Although Anton was better than anyone in this job, Wrik chose Davin.

He needed Anton with him, and more, Davin's confidence was quite down these few days. This task might make his confidence grow again.

"Theiron, you bastard," Davin's cry came into their ears. "Didn't send men to find me. Well, I am here."

In the next moment, a fiery arrow flashed into the fortress. Jacob played his role after that. With him joined Aeriel, Sitara and other archers. They showed arrows towards the first and second floors of the fortress. Some of them hit guards or archers, while most of them succeeded in causing a ruckus.

Guards rushed out from the fortress, confronting them, and their number only increased.

"That's our cue," Wrik said as his legs bolted into the fortress.

They did not choose to go through the entrance, it would only be announcing their arrival if they went there. Wrik climbed onto the first floor with his swift speed and found two guards waiting for him there.

They were bewildered in the presence of the attack, preparing to join others below.

A shadow jumped above Wrik, hit one of them at the jaw with a mana coated fist. The guard did not have the time to yelp as Anton moved to his next victim. The second one succeeded in his yelp, though he went just as easy as the first.

While on the outside, the others were successful in making a ruckus, catching all the attention of the guards.

Anton hid himself in the dark again, while Wrik acted in distress.

"We are under attack," Wrik cried with panic. His acting was too good to be real. He moved, yelling with all his vocals. "Where is Master Theiron? We need to call him. The Scythe is here. Master Theiron save us."

Wrik's acting was enough for him to get through the hall. None of the men guessed a thing. Well, they were preoccupied with the assault. But what bewildered Wrik when some of them joined in with his cry.

"Scythe is here," Wrik yelled at the top of his lungs. "Quickly call Master Theiron."

The guards moved in panic hearing the name of Scythe. Wrik felt quite dissatisfied seeing their fear after just hearing Scythe's name. But he did not have time to be dissatisfied. He needed to find Theiron soon.

Wrik moved through the hall down the path. From his intel, he knew Theiron stayed on the first floor. It should be somewhere in the middle.

The intel did not mislead him. Soon, he found the noble son getting out of one room. He was dressed in fine battle armour and a long sword.

"Scythe? Why is he here?" Theiron asked, frowning.

It appeared Wrik's yell had reached his ears too.

"Master Theiron, Scythe is here," Wrik ran towards Theiron with a pathetic cry.

"Did you see him with your eyes?" Theiron asked. It appeared he was still confused about the ruckus.

But the answer he got from Wrik was a kick in his gut. Wrik jammed his foot viciously at the armoured noble son, who flew away into his room again.

Wrik gave a nod to Anton before entering the room. He closed the door behind to look at the noble son on the floor. Now he needed to have a proper talk with this guy. Any disturbance was not allowed. That was why Anton was there. He will take care of everyone who would be looking for Theiron in between their talk.

The noble son coughed out a mouthful of blood, giving Wrik a glaring glance.

"Who are you?" Theiron questioned, getting up. He had not recognised Wrik yet. Well, it was not his fault in the dim light anyone with good eyesight would not be able to recognise him.

Wrik said nothing. With a flash of light in his eyes and the sword in his grip, he moved towards Theiron. He needed to make it quick. That's why he triggered the second level of [Eye of Insights] immediately.
