Chapter 144 - Taking Responsibility

"Then how do you explain this?" Han Qingshan took his phone and passed it over to Zhou Yan who accepted it while looking puzzled.

He and Han Qingshan were not friendly with one another in any way. In fact, they were incredibly hostile towards each other. But there was one thing that could make them work together, and that was Jiang Yingyue.

Seeing that Han Qingshan had come to find him, it must have had something to do with Jiang Yingyue, so Zhou Yan took the phone and watched the video.

His hands were clenching the phone with more and more strength as he saw how she had been physically assaulted. Even worse was it that she had been pushed and also lost consciousness for a brief period.

Although the ultimate winner was Jiang Yingyue, the process had been painful, and she had suffered. Han Qingshan would never allow her to suffer any losses, and he had only let the He family be because Zhou Yan had promised to deal with them.

At first, when Zhou Yan saw the video, his first reaction was heartache. This woman had claimed to be Han Qingshan's girlfriend. Were the two of them an item now? Did he truly have no chance?

But after getting to see the actual video, the initial heartbreak quickly turned to anger. He had already wished to deal with the He family, but apparently, he had been too slow. They had caused problems first.

"I will deal with this," Zhou Yan said with a stern expression on his face as he handed the phone back to Han Qingshan. "But just because she has acknowledged you as her current partner does not mean that I will approve of you. If I get the chance, I will steal her away. As long as you are not married, there is nothing to be afraid of."

Han Qingshan was aware of this as well. Although he had obtained a victory right now and was currently in a relationship with Jiang Yingyue, it was not guaranteed that they would end up together. One could always change their partner. Even after marriage was the possibility of a divorce, so he had to be very careful and not allow her to be taken away from him.

But, even though both Zhou Yan and Han Qingshan were desperate to end up with Jiang Yingyue, neither of them would ever harm or hurt her. They would fight against one another to show off their good sides, but they would never do anything disrespectful to her, or harm her in any way.

Han Qingshan had done what he needed to do. Glancing at Zhou Yan, he knew that the other man was not going to let the He family off easily. So he said no more, turned around on his heels, and left with swift steps.

Although he could have smashed his relationship with Jiang Yingyue in Zhou Yan's face, he did not do so. He knew that Zhou Yan was true to Jiang Yingyue, and if he had been the loser, he would not be able to handle it, so him doing the same would be unacceptable.

They did not like one another, but they respected one another deeply. Han Qingshan was gone and did not see the complex expression in Zhou Yan's face. He was struggling with his emotions before he sighed deeply, picked his own phone out of his pocket, and made a phone call.

"It's me," he said, not introducing himself more than that. "I know we originally wanted to start the plan when they had built half of the district, but things have changed. Freeze them now."

Having said this, Zhou Yan did not return to the classroom. Instead, he went to find Lin Qiang. He was not in the mood to continue with his lessons.

Han Qingshan was in a good mood. Although he was distressed over Jiang Yingyue and what she had encountered, he was also happy that she had been telling the world that she belonged to him.

His heart was filled with excitement as he took his phone and dialed his mother's number. "Where are you?" he asked the moment she picked up.

"We are at our mall that's located next to Pine Park Station. You can come and pick up your girlfriend. I think she is starting to become exhausted from walking around with me."

Jiang Yingyue, who could hear Yan Meilin's words, blushed when she realized that her mother-in-law was teasing her and she could not help but feel rather bashful, but she was also excited about Han Qingshan picking her up.

Soon they left the mall itself; only a few bags were in their hands as everything had been ordered to be delivered to Han Qingshan's condo later.

The only things they had with them now were a few smaller items that Yan Meilin had insisted on her getting, including some jewelry that she should wear during the Charity Auction.

"Let us get an ice cream cone while waiting for Qingshan to arrive," Yan Meilin said. And without waiting for Jiang Yingyue's answer, she dragged her towards an ice cream cone stall.

Even the ice cream in the mall was of the highest quality. It was gelato imported straight from Italy, which was known to be some of the best ice cream in the world.

As they exited the mall, they spotted an empty bench and sat down while waiting for Han Qingshan to come by and pick them up.

Yan Meilin also contacted the driver who had been waiting for her to finish shopping.
