Juan hesitated initially but agreed soon after.

Nathan nodded in understanding, then he headed straight for the end of the corridor. His heart skipped a beat as he walked past Adrian's ward.

Juan followed after Nathan to the exit passageway. Nathan opened the door and Juan followed. When Juan entered the room, Nathan closed the door, which made the atmosphere feel ominous.

"Mayor Yu," Nathan greeted coldly.

"Mr. Jin, what do you have to say for yourself? Shouldn't your wife pay the price for assaulting my niece?" Juan gave him a hard stare in silent protest. Mr. Yu wasn't afraid of Nathan as the other policemen were. After all, he was a seasoned politician, while Nathan was only a young and impetuous businessman in his eyes.

"Do you have any idea why my son has been in the hospital for months, Mayor Yu?" Nathan questioned him bluntly, staring straight into his eyes.

"I have no clue." Juan's brows furrowed slightly, and he stared back at him as if he were annoyed. It was as if he couldn't tell why Nathan was talking about his son all of a sudden.

"Really? Is that so? You have no clue?" Nathan sneered, going in for the kill.

"It's because of your cruel and merciless niece that my son is in the hospital right now, battling life and death. She injected a virus into my son's body. I haven't gotten a chance to get even with her." Nathan squinted as he spat the words in Juan's face before he had a chance to speak.

"What are you trying to say? Do you have any evidence? Do you have any evidence to prove that your son's illness has something to do with my niece?" Juan shot back. There was a momentary shift in his expression, but he recovered quickly. Juan was a politician, so he knew that he couldn't give himself away like this.

"Of course, I have evidence. There's no place too secret in the world. I believe that my wife slapped Eve because she provoked her. Forget the concussion, I couldn't care less if she w

l means to force my mother to death. Do you really think I didn't know? All these years, she pretended to be kind to me, but it was only because she couldn't give birth to a child. She couldn't do anything to me! She thought of all kinds of ideas to flatter and harm me. This is all her fault!" Eve roared and screamed hysterically. Her voice was so loud that the veins in her neck protruded. She didn't seem like a patient with a concussion at all.

Juan had no interest in arguing with her because he also despised Claire. She was only a troublesome mistress who had intervened in his sister's marriage. When his sister passed away, Juan wasn't in City A, so he couldn't see her for the last time.

At that moment, Claire entered the ward with a brown paper bag. She had asked the servants to prepare Eve's favorite food for her. As Eve's stepmother, Claire knew that she had been hospitalized, so she came to see her.

Before she stepped into the ward, she heard what Eve said clearly. Claire's mouth twitched, and she smiled coldly in her heart. It seemed that Eve knew everything.

Some members of affluent families pretended to be smart, some pretended to be clueless, and some pretended to be deaf and blind. None of them were actually clueless. For power, they always fought to the death.
