Chapter 914 A Rude Request

"I'm flattered, Mayor. Nice to meet you." A faint smile appeared on Nathan's face, but it was not a sincere one.

"Eve has always mentioned you to me, Mr. Jin. I haven't been to City A during the past few years. When I saw you tonight, I finally understood why she mentioned you so often," Juan told Nathan cheerfully.

After saying that, Juan turned his gaze to Mandy and stared at her for a few seconds.

Putting down his glass, Nathan put his hand on the small of Mandy's back and ushered her closer. "This is my wife," he proudly said.

"It's very nice to meet you, Mrs. Jin. I've heard that you're an excellent pianist. I wonder if you can perform a piece for us tonight," Juan said with a sly smile on his face.

Both Nathan and Mandy were smart people. How could they not know what Juan was up to? It was true that Mandy was a pianist, but she had no obligation to play for Juan. Who the hell was Juan anyway? How dare he make such a rude request?

Mandy found the request a little bit imposing, but she did not show it. Instead, she touched her wrist. Before Nathan could react, she was already looking into Juan's eyes. She said with a sweet smile, "I'm sorry to let you down tonight, Mayor. I've hurt my wrist recently, and it hasn't gotten better. Even though I'd love to, I couldn't play tonight."

Eve looked at Mandy with a livid face. She did not expect her to reject the mayor in such a straightforward manner.

Although Eve was pissed, she could not do anything about Mandy. Mandy was Nathan's wife. She was practically untouchable.

Juan still smiled despite Mandy's response. He stared at her with an unreadable expression on his face and asked, "Oh, I'm sorry to hear that, but I still can't help wondering, Mrs. Jin. Is it that you can't play, or you just don't want to play?"

Soon, Nathan noticed that he and Bruce were wearing the same clothes. He stopped talking to the CEO he was having a conversation with, who sensed the change in the atmosphere and eventually walked away.

It was so interesting that Nathan and Bruce would wear the same clothes. If one did not look carefully, he or she might not find any difference between the suits. The suit that Nathan was wearing had been tailored especially for him. On the left breast pocket, there was an embroidered logo with the designer's name.

"Bruce? You're here, too?" Mandy said with a smile. She looked calm, but when she glanced at Nathan from the corner of her eye, she found that he did not look too happy.

Standing next to them, Simon frowned at once. When he saw Bruce, he felt as if he had seen an enemy. Bruce was his former rival in love. For a period of time, Nacy had been infatuated with him, but he refused her. Simon had always felt that Bruce had been unfair to Nacy.

Simon also knew that Bruce becoming the deputy director of the Education Bureau was all because of Nacy's help. He did not think that Bruce was a good man. To him, although he looked like a complete gentleman on the surface, he was nothing but a sophisticated schemer.
