Chapter 809 Are You Calling Me Petty

Even though Nacy married Simon out of love, they still could not deny the fact that it was still a business marriage. Previously, Nacy had been angry with her mother-in-law, which in turn made her mother-in-law angry as well to the point that she was sent to the hospital. Of course, Nacy got kicked out by her mother-in-law, and Nacy still did not dare to tell her parents about this incident.

At that moment, a woman walked into the ward, and to make Nacy's mood even worse, the woman was someone who she hated a lot. It was none other than Simon's aunt and Johnson's sister, Wendy. Since her husband was Bonnie's uncle, Wendy tried to match-make Simon and Bonnie. Wendy believed that they were destined together, but to her dismay, Simon ignored her and married Nacy instead. This made Wendy feel very humiliated, for she was backing Bonnie all the way, so Simon's choice had been a huge thorn in her heart.

Because of this, ever since Nacy married into the Ye Family, Wendy was nothing but hard on her. Luckily for Nacy, they did not cross paths very often.

Then again, it wasn't just Nacy. When Caroline married Wendy's brother, Johnson, Wendy wasn't married yet, but she was unhappy with this sister-in-law. Wendy was very sociable and amiable, yes, but she felt troublesome and uncomfortable after exchanging a few words with Caroline. Perhaps, it was because Caroline was more powerful than her and that she was very frank to the point that she said what she wanted to say without any hesitation.

However, Wendy did not have a say in Johnson's personal matters, so she had no choice but to tolerate it and stay out of it as much as possible. Later on, Wendy got married to a man from a rich family, but this man was short and not that good looking. The only thing that made Wendy marry this man was because of his wealth, and that Wendy wasn't one to dream small. With him, she lived a luxurious life, and they had a daughter together, who was already in her second year in high school. Despite having an extravagant life, her daughter, unfortunately, inherited her father's appearance, so she was often laughed at and teased by her classmates, which made Wendy very upset.

The more she thought about it, the more indignant Wendy became. She always wondered why she married a man that looked like a pig. More so, she wondered and could not understand why a man as excellent as her brother would marry a shrew like Caroline.

As the years passed, fortunately for Wendy, there hadn't been much of a conflict between her and Caroline. After all, the older generation was still living together, and they were still seemingly harmonious, if not, very tolerant.

"As an elder, you have to watch your language. Moreover, even if Nacy dares to offend you, you still have to keep your peace. You are a mother, and so you should know very well how to be tolerant," Johnson calmly said with a gloomy face.

Nacy looked at her father-in-law and felt very grateful to him, so she did not regret being obedient and respectful towards him. As a proud and dignified woman, she had never felt wronged like this before. As a matter of fact, she would have already left, and given her character, she would have also fought back against Wendy and Caroline before leaving.

But not today and not ever in the future because everything she did now was for Simon. She loved him that much.

"Huh… Are you calling me petty? Do you know how the girl you are defending right now contradicted me? Now you are accusing me here indiscriminately?" Caroline could not hold back her anger back anymore. Besides, Johnson had scolded her just now, and she was his wife.

Seeing this situation grow worse, Johnson gave out a helpless look and sighed silently under his breath. He thought to himself, 'Indeed, it is really difficult to be a man in a crowd of women. Women do think differently than men sometimes. They will start to overthink inexplicably, and then get angry in the end, which clouds over their reason and logical mind.'

Nacy looked back and forth between the elders. She felt even more guilty for it seemed like the more she stayed here, the more the problem between her and Caroline would not be solved. Worse, there was already another conflict on the rise. Therefore, she excused herself quietly out of the tension-filled room.
