Chapter 604 We Will Always Be Together

Mandy's hands unconsciously stopped midway in applying cream to her face. Her eyes were fixed on Nathan—his profile illuminated by the dazzling sunlight.

Nathan hung up and turned around to Mandy's beautiful almond-shaped eyes. A gentle smile curved on his lips, and he walked over to her. "Honey, what are you thinking about?" he asked as he gathered her in his arms.

Mandy felt comfortable warmth draped around her. "Nothing. Who were you talking to just now?" she asked.

"People from the company. They seem to always stir up trouble when I'm not around," Nathan replied with a helpless smile.

But the truth was that Nathan was far from worried. Even if the senior shareholders banded together, it was a matter of small concern. After all, he controlled the majority of the company with 60% of the total shares.

Among the other investors, those who kept causing trouble were Luke's former associates. With Luke no longer at the company, they held little power. They were minor inconveniences at best.

"Are you okay? You can head to work first," Mandy asked, concern written on her face.

"No, it's nothing to worry about. They won't be able to do anything. It'll be alright," Nathan answered in a light voice to dispel her anxiety. Several days ago, these senior shareholders banded together and handed him a document. There was a piece of land at the South Mountain that they wanted to buy. It was a strange bid—the property was not worth much. Why were they interested in buying remote land that had no promise of future profit?

Still, Nathan was doubtful of their intentions, so he disapproved their proposal. After this, they thought of other ways to cause him trouble, but every time, Nathan shot them down.

"That's good then," Mandy said, her shoulders relaxing. She turned back to the mirror and continued to apply cream to her face.

At this, Nathan frowned slightly and said, "Honey, you are putting too much chemical cream on your face every day. Those products are artificial. Stop using them so much. Do you want to poison me?"

"Oh, you men will never understand the troubles women have to go through. Beauty is our armor, so it'

heat rose, but they always stopped and pulled apart for air at some point.

The romance between Ethon and Fiona had spread around the campus, and it was no surprise to see them together anymore. Still, even their happiness could not stop spiteful tongues.

As they were walking, Fiona felt eyes on her. She felt uncomfortable as two girls threw her quick glances and spoke in hushed murmurs. 'Do I look strange? Why do they keep staring at me?' she thought to herself.

It was an inevitable situation, however. With Ethon's status at the university, people were bound to take notice. He used to be the president of the student union, but he resigned after being with Fiona. His good looks and family background only served to bring the spotlight even closer. Plenty of girls at the university coveted Fiona's position beside him.

"Hey, isn't that Fiona? I heard she stole Shyla's boyfriend."

"Right? Everyone knew about Shyla's feelings, but she lured him away."

"What a crafty woman. Look at her bag. There's the logo of Chanel. It must be a counterfeit, just like the owner."

"True. That costs more than three hundred thousand. I don't think she can afford it."

The two girls seemed to take great pleasure in mocking Fiona, but not one word was said against Ethon.

Fiona ignored them and tried to block her ears from their harsh words. 'Why is it that people always seem to take offense at others' happiness?' she thought.
