"You must've said that to your other women already," she spat out, staring coldly at him.

"I didn't," Simon protested.

It was hard to deal with Nacy when she was angry, for the sole reason that he couldn't get angry with her even if he tried. Besides, even if he did, he knew for a fact that the results would be unbearable.

"If you touch me again, you can go out!" she warned. Her eyes were filled with disgust. Without another word, she shoved him away. Now, there was a wide gap between them.

Simon glanced at the clock. It was already 10:30. Nacy should be sleeping by now. Knowing that he had no other choice, he handed the quilt back to her and jumped off the bed to take out another quilt from the cupboard.

However, even with the concession, she still couldn't stand him sleeping beside her. Nacy jumped off the bed. "I'll sleep with Adrian tonight. We'll be sleeping in separate beds from now on."

Watching her receding figure, he didn't even know what to say. More so, he didn't even know why she was acting like this.

He clenched his fists so hard that his knuckles were turning white from the exertion.

Adrian was sleeping in the guest room. He was going to sleep with Nacy and Simon, but after Nathan's video call, he was lectured on the fact that a man should learn to sleep alone.

In fact, Adrian was used to sleeping alone. While he was very young, when he needed his parents the most, he had been left with different doctors to tend to him overnight. However, now that he was loved and doted on by so many people, it was inevitable that he would connect with those people.

out the entire time, he had never uttered a single word of complaint over the pain. Mandy was his anesthetic, and she helped hold the pain over.

She turned sideways and buried her head into Nathan's chest. Scenes of the past flashed back in her mind like a movie. From their first meeting to their first kiss to their marriage to the birth of their son...The man's actions touched her heart.

As she recalled their bitter past, tears ran down her cheeks.

'I'm so lucky to have met the one destined for me, ' she thought.

Mandy didn't dare place her arms around his waist, afraid that she would touch his wound. Instead, she pressed her head against his chest, listening to his steady heartbeat.

Thump. Thump. Thump. It was as if her heartbeat had already synchronized with his, and they were moving rhythmically.

Although the night was cold and thunderous, the atmosphere around them was warm.

"Mandy..." There was a trace of exhaustion in his voice as he grasped his arm around her.

"Yes, I'm here," she said, yawning. She was close to falling asleep.
