Stanley gazed into Mandy's bright eyes. It was then he realized that his daughter finally grew up into an intelligent woman. She had her own opinions and ideas now, and his heart ached in pride.

At No. 520, Haibin Road

In the living room, the lights were all turned on. Nathan was busy playing chess with Adrian. Their calculative gazes were all directed at each other's pawns. However, the game was interrupted when Nathan's phone rang.

He glanced at the Caller ID to see that it was Eve. Nathan was about to hang up when Adrian snatched the phone from him. "Hello, Mother Eve," he said happily. These days, he took it as a habit to call Eve his 'mother.'

Eve was drunk on wine as she immersed herself into the tub. She blinked blearily. It took her half a minute to realize that it was Adrian who had answered the phone and not Nathan.

"Adrian, where's your father?"

"We're playing chess." He laughed. However, he froze once he felt his father's cold gaze directed at the back of his head.

"Give your father the phone. I want to talk to him."

"Okay. Father, Mother Eve wants to talk to you." Nathan rolled his eyes once his son passed him the phone. He wasn't willing to answer the call in the first place if it wasn't for Adrian snatching it away.

Adrian was too much of a worrier. That's why he loved answering these types of calls as fast as he could.

"Eve, what's wrong?" Nathan asked calmly.

"I have something to tell you. Come here, please?" she said.

"It's late. Can't we talk about it tomorrow?" Nathan turned around. Ever since Mandy came back to the city, her mere presence drained the hell out of him. Now, he wasn't in the mood to deal with any other woman.

"It's really important. Please," she insisted again.

ared at her, as if to ask her to "back off."

The room service lady walked away with ease. As someone who worked in the service department, she was used to difficult customers.

"Why did you ask someone else to come in?" Eve finally walked out, her soft and sweet voice echoing throughout the room. She held his hand.

Nathan frowned as his eyes narrowed at her pale lips. "How long have you been in the water?"

"Not too long. Just three hours." She leaned against him, rubbing her breasts against his chest.

Nathan shoved her away in disgust. "Behave yourself," he snapped.

"Nathan, can we get married?" She gritted her teeth, grabbing a hold of his hand once again.

"I don't want to get married now." Nathan was stunned by her request.

"When do you want to get married then? I'll wait for you," she said eagerly, struggling to pull him closer to her.

"I think you know what I meant, Eve. If that's all you want to talk about, then I've already given you my answer." He exerted his strength to withdraw his arm from Eve's hand. Although his action was smooth and quick, it still was a stab in her heart. "I'll leave now. Adrian's waiting for me."
