Name:Billionaire's Gift Author:Rabbit
"Why are you late?" Madeline peered at her daughter, who was too busy playing with her phone. There was something wrong–of that, Mandy was sure, from hearing the tone of her voice.

"I had errands to run." Mandy winced, placing a hand on her stomach. She had been starving half the day, and as she gazed at the dishes in front of her, she felt like a wolf desperate to get her meat.

"Are you really with Nathan?" As the past few days had passed, Madeline had noticed how Mandy was walking around the corridors like a zombie, pale and expressionless. Now, when Mandy entered the room with a smirk, she couldn't help but feel worried for her daughter.

Mandy walked to the kitchen to fetch a bowl of rice for herself, turning a deaf ear to her mother.

However, Madeline wasn't going to fall for her tricks again. "Well?" she prompted. "Is it true?"

"If it is?" Mandy placed down her bowl, looking up at her cautiously.

"I'll hit you right now," Madeline replied out of instinct, a sour look sketching itself on her face.

"Oh, no, Mom," she snorted as she picked up her chopsticks again to get a piece of stewed pork. "Tell me, what's wrong with him? The guy has gotten cars and houses, and everything you could've ever wanted. He's basically your perfect son-in-law."

"He is from a rich family," Madeline admitted. "But that still does not mean that you should be with him! We're Zhou's. We're no match for them."

"In a world of love, is there really such a thing as equal rankings? I don't want to marry a man who you think is suitable for me just because of a social status 'match.' I love Nathan, isn't that enough?" She paused, fishing a piece of pork into her mouth.

"So it's true then. You've finally reconciled," Madeline sneered. 'My daughter is doomed, ' she thought.

Mandy didn't even

Although she knew of Nathan's capabilities in the business sector, she was heavily worried over his character. She remembered how he littered all those gossip newspapers about being with different models and superstars. Even if he wanted Mandy, for now, she was afraid that his feelings were only temporary, and that he'd fool her daughter in the end.

"Why do you look so sad?" Stanley raised his head, gazing at his wife.

"I was thinking about Mand. She's with Nathan now." Madeline placed the milk right in front of him before going over to sit on the couch.

Stanley wasn't really worried about Nathan's character. In fact, he approved him for their daughter.

"Don't worry too much, love. Our children and our grandchildren will live their own lives. We're just here to guide them. Besides, I think Nathan's good for Mandy." Stanley smiled.

"You think so?" Her eyebrows shot in the air in bewilderment.

"Yes."

Madeline hesitated. "I just feel worried, you know? That Nathan is just using Mandy."

Stanley chuckled, walking over to her. "Remember when we were young? You insisted that we marry, going against your parent's wishes. And where are we now? Aren't we getting better and better?"
