Chapter 79 - Meeting In Laws

Time passed relatively quickly that day, Alex didn't notice when it was finally time to leave for the Jensen's house. She was excited, finally, she would officially meet Elliott's parents as his future wife. Of course, she was not too thrilled with the idea of being with her father, but that did not diminish the excitement she felt growing inside her. It was as if everything suddenly became much more real.

Ever since the day Eliott had proposed to her, Alex had felt like she was living in a dream, experiencing life in a different way and feeling things she had not even dared to dream about. But all of that had a somewhat fleeting flavour to it because it was all for her, but starting tonight, everything would change. She knew that from this night on, there would be no turning back, that her life would change completely. From a young woman alone in the world, she would find herself with a fiancé and a new family starting tomorrow.

With great excitement, Alex made her way to the Jensen mansion as agreed with Alan. She had chosen a rather simple outfit for the occasion, introducing a black dress that was not too long and not too short, with transparent high heels. Under the black dress, she wore a sheer turtleneck to hide the hickeys Eliott had left last night. As always, she accompanied her outfit with the jewellery her grandfather had left her. Her hair was styled simply, just loose in the back, with simple makeup as always.

When she arrived in front of Alan, he did not seem pleased with her outfit. In his eyes, it was as if she was not taking the event seriously and was doing everything she could to avoid being appreciated. There was no question in his mind that it was going to go wrong. So before he entered, he asked her not to embarrass him once he was in front of the Jensens. Alex did not reply and just followed him into his car. The mansion is indeed so big that it was easier to get there by car, as the distance between the gate and the main house is quite long.

When they finally drove through the Jensen family gate, Alex was amazed at the beautiful scenery that opened up before her. Eliott's house was just too breathtaking, the garden, the lake, it was like she stepped into another dimension because it was just breathtaking. The ride was quiet as the two did not have much to say to each other, but when they arrived in front of the house, Alan reminded Alex once again to behave and let him do the talking!

Lydia and Eli were waiting for them at the door. Alan could not compare their behaviour to the way they had reacted when he had gone there with Aria, and could not help but frown at the difference in treatment.

When Alex finally stood in front of Lydia, she could not help but come forward and hug her eagerly!

"You are finally here, my dear! I have been waiting for you for so long! Come on, let us go inside," she did not even give Alan a glance and entered the house with Alex while her husband accompanied Alan.

Lydia sat down with Alex and took her hand in hers as she spoke to her. To explain her wife's behaviour, Eli could only ask Alan to understand, she had waited too long to see Alex, which was why she was all excited when she saw her. They sat down as well, they were back in a living room and Alan noticed it was a different room than the one he was in with Aria, another difference.

Lydia was eagerly chatting with Alex, asking her how she was doing and many questions about her daily life and how she was settling into Florelia. Alex answered her questions politely with a smile and was genuinely happy to be with Lydia. But for Alan, who did not know that the two women had already met, it was a good thing, because he thought that Alex would not let him lose face, and so a satisfied smile appeared on his lips.

"Eliott has been very busy the last few days and since you just called us yesterday, he could not really adjust his schedule so he will be a little late..." Eli explained to Alan and Alex so Alex did not get upset about Eliott being late.

"It's okay, it's okay, young people have to work hard and it's my fault for not telling you beforehand that I was coming." Alan was a little embarrassed after Eli pointed out that he had not taken the time to let them know about his visit in advance, but he was also a little angry at Eliott for not giving him face one more time.

Like the mirror of that first day, Leila arrived not long after, greeting everyone and sitting down joining them. Alan began to sweat a little, not liking Leila's presence, thinking of what the press had written about Alex and the actor Ethann, and fearing that she would expose them if the rumours were true. But to his surprise, she was very happy to see Alex.

"Well, Alex you look better than I expected, I thought you'll look bad after last night but look at you glowing!!!! But I have to say that I was even more surprised when my mother said that you would be joining us tonight!" Leila looked at Alex with some amazement at her flawless skin, despite the fatigue of the previous night!

"Well, I was not expecting to be here tonight either, I was surprised myself" Alex gave Leila an apologetic look before looking at Alan with little eyes.

"You can come whenever you want Alex, you are more than welcome" Lydia said, smiling before looking at her daughter "what happened last night?"

"Oh, I brought her somewhere to drink..." Leila paused as Lydia looked accusingly at her. She cleared her throat. "Mom, I only brought her to have a good time in town, so don't look at me like that, I already my punishment from Eliott."

"You knew each other?" At this point, Alan was beginning to think that Alex and Leila's relationship was not easy, but he could not put his finger on it.

"Alex is the face of my RoyalStar, so of course I cared a lot about her."

Alan still was not satisfied with her answer and had a feeling that something was not right, but as he was about to ask further, Eliott made his grand entrance.

He was wearing his work clothes, Alex had seen him earlier in the morning so nothing, in particular, had changed, but now he had a large bouquet of flowers in his hand. Alex looked at him and her heart leapt at the sweet gesture. He greeted everyone and handed Alex the flower.

Alex was a little embarrassed as she stood in front of her soon to be in law. She quickly thanked him for taking the flower before Eliott sat down right next to her with a small smile.

"Aya... The son has a wife, he's already forgotten about the mother..." Lydia could not help but tease her son, as Alex blushed heavily.

"Well, you are the one who asked me to marry, so don't complain if I do without my wife. But of course, being a good son, I have something for you too!" He pulled a box of cookies out of his bag, which he also had with him, and handed them to his mother, "Your favourite!"

Lydia was pleased with that and smiled, she really loved those cookies, she could eat them every day. As he bowed, Eliott noticed Alex look getting a little sad looking at the cookies, a look Lydia noticed as well.

"Alex, do you perhaps love these cookies as well?" Lydia could not help but ask. It would be great if she could share her passion for these cookies with someone because no one in her family liked them.

"No, no... It's... It just reminds me of my mom. She always liked these cookies too."

When Alex spoke of her mother, Alan tensed involuntarily. He had forgotten to tell Alex not to mention his ex-wife when he was with the Jensens.

But before he could say anything, Lydia was already taking Alex's hands tenderly in hers and talking to her.

"Oh dear, you are right, that's one of the things your mother and I have in common, we really like to eat those biscuits for tea every time we get together. Funnily enough, we sealed our promise to marry both our children with these biscuits," Lydia laughed, remembering the night they had actually eaten them at the hospital.

Alex was listening intently to Lydia when she suddenly looked at Alan with a mischievous flash in her eyes, "Did you just say you made that promise with my mother?"

"Well, yes, that's why you are here, isn't it?" Lydia already knew the inside story, so she made a point of playing Alex's game.

Eliott just looked at the two women helplessly, thinking that they must have found each other!
