Chapter 73 - An Important Question

Many things happened that night for all. It was as if every man in the lives of our three women had decided to come to them with their own problems.

The girls in the club were shocked by what Fidelia told them because Christopher Zhang was known for not liking commitments and being a real Casanova. They could not believe that such a down-to-earth and cool girl like her would be with him. Although they did not know her, she really seemed like an interested and intelligent woman, not like the women around Christ.

"Are you sure he's your boyfriend? I mean, all the girls in this town know he's someone who only enjoys women and that's all. He's one of the most desirable men here, but... He will not get involved in a serious relationship..." Amelia felt a little sad because she did not want Fidelia to get hurt, even if she had not known her for long, because she really liked her.

"Well... I'll just have to heal him... Easy enough, right? I like challenges," Fidelia replied, smiling.

"You are so cool...! So what are you going to do?" Krystal was all excited, waiting for a good show to be put on for her.

"Me? Not much..." Fidelia smirked, also thinking about what she would do. Then she picked up her phone and sent Christopher a message, "Hey, can you tell that woman who's touching you to stop before I come to stop her?".

The two women at the table looked at Fidelia and then at Christopher, waiting for his reaction.

After getting the message Christopher was a little taken aback and then smiled fondly, he loved it when Fidelia was so authoritative. He began to look around the club curiously, searching for her. He wanted to find her soon because he knew she had not sent that tidbit just to bluff, he knew she was really coming to kick his ass.

The people around him were curious too, because he was acting so strange. One of his friends could not help but ask him what he was looking for, it was too unsettling, but Christopher did not bother to answer and just gave him a small smile. After searching the place thoroughly, he finally found Fidelia sitting comfortably with a few other girls. He then stood up and walked hurriedly towards Fidelia, not caring about his friends who asked him where he was going and all the women who tried to hold him back.

When Krystal and Amelia saw Christopher actually walking towards their table, they were amazed and looked at Fidelia with so much respect that she could actually get him to come to her just like that?

"That's it! After today, I will always follow you! You tamed the supreme Casanova of our city? I am too impressed, you really earned my respect. " Krystal declared seriously, looking at Fidelia with admiring eyes.

Fidelia laughed at her new friend, thinking that the two of them were so cute, and she really liked Krystal's honest personality.

Soon after, Christopher came over to their table. "Hello, beautiful!" he said, grabbing Fidelia by the waist and giving her a light kiss on her sweet lips, but she pushed him away and looked him over from head to toe before smiling.

"Are you done playing? I thought you were so busy today that you would not have time to play with me?"

Christopher sighed and looked into his girlfriend's slightly annoyed eyes. He could not help but curse Eliott because if he was out tonight, it was to snoop for information for their future acquisition. Getting drunk with people was the best way to get information. He did not know why, but women always told him a lot of information and now he was being ignored by his girlfriend because of it.

"Babe, you know I would never dare lie to you! I am really working, I am trying to get information for work, and these women have the information I need, so..." He scratched his head and looked a little sheepishly at the other two women at their table. "But it's really for work, babe, I swear..."

"So you use your body to get information, what a wonderful method!" added Fidelia, sipping her drink.

"No, it's not what you think babe, but this time it's urgent work" He moved even closer to her and whispered in her ear "It's about Priceless, we need to hunt it down soon so Alex can be free".

Hearing that, she looked at him with a raised eyebrow in surprise and smiled a little.

"Okay, for this time I forgive you!"

The Porter family was still coming to terms with the fact that they could not rely on KANI brand money from now on. It was a good cash flow for the family; more accurately, it was now the Porter family's only cash flow after the demise of their business.

Clyde was the most affected by this loss. He could not believe that Alex had just taken one of their businesses away from them and that it was all his fault. He could not let go, so he suggested to his father that he take all the money in KANI's accounts and give Alex an empty shell. Since she wanted it back so badly, he told his father that she should pay the workers herself with her own money!

In fact, the Porter patriarch had already thought of it. That very night he had asked his lawyers and his accountant to let the company go bankrupt. The lawyers had told him that this was not a wise idea, since he might go after the smuggling even if he assigned his right to someone else. But Alan would not hear of it and had asked the lawyer to make sure Alex got a business with no cash flow at all. She was already going to marry Eliott, she'll have no problem having money and paying those workers or whatever! He thought angrily. He did not like the situation he was in. Losing everything he owned because of his family's incompetence was becoming a real burden on his old head.

On the other hand, Alex was back at her apartment after dinner with Eliott. She was sitting on the couch, absent-minded. She was deep in thought, thinking about what Eliott had told her earlier. She knew it was something serious when he asked her if he could ask her a question, but she was not really prepared to deal with what he had told her and frowned at the memory.

*Flashback

Eliott looked Alex straight in the eye, "How do you really feel about this marriage? I want to know how you really feel..."

Alex was taken aback by the question and could not really answer at first... She just did not know what to say to him. Apart from the fact that she did not want to get married. Not because of him, because she had really fallen in love with him, well she thought it was love, but because she just did not have faith in the institution of marriage. But how was she supposed to tell him that without hurting his feelings, she thought, and she had no answer? Eliott had been sweet and good to her since the day they met. Even when he was playing Ethan.

Before she could say anything, Eliott added, "I know you don't want to get married, so I am asking... To change my question: How do you see yourself in this matter, since you have agreed to marry me? How do you see yourself as my wife?"

Alex could not ignore the emotion in Eliott's deep eyes. She could see the sadness in those beautiful golden eyes and it made her uncomfortable. What was she supposed to say in response? She was not even sure of herself anymore. She had not imagined being a wife one day in this life. Not only because she did not believe in marriage, but also because of her illness. And now it all came to her at once. She really did not know how to deal with it.

Now she had met a perfect man who wanted to make her his wife. Who was willing to help her, love her and make her happy, but her fears were just stronger? Besides, she did not even know if her feelings for Eliott were love.

She was in no position to give him an answer. She had remained silent and could not even look him in the eye.

She remembered how sad Eliott had been when he had added, "Okay, beautiful, I don't want to pressure you. I just want you to be happy, that's why I am asking. I don't want you to be trapped in something with me that you don't want. As I told you before, there is no room in my life for divorce. Even if that's not what you want, I will help you achieve your goal. So feel free to think about it again.. I'll wait for you to come back with an answer.
