Chapter 40 - Welcome Party 3

When she was alone, Fidelia looked intently at Alex with a mocking smile. "Well, Baby girl, how does it feel to be the principal actress in the life of the most influential and attractive single man in town, who also happens to hold the award of Actor of the Year?"

"Did you find out? Did Leila tell you?"

"Yes, since you did not ..."

"You know perfectly well that I would have told you, but then I decided to rely on your intelligence to figure it out."

"Yeah, right ... And I am the dumbest woman in this room."

Alex just rolled his eyes at Fidelia's comment "How does it feel to be in the life of the most eligible bachelor in town?"

"Oh please, I wonder what else people see in him that they give him that damn title..."

"Maybe because all the women revolve around him. You should look behind you."

Fidelia looked in the direction Alex indicated, and all she could see was a line of women happily discussing Christopher "What an idiot! I am coming, is it okay if I leave you alone?"

"Of course, I am fine. Go get your man!" Alex teased her friend, amused that Fidelia was already acting like she owned the man.

After Fidelia made her way over to Christopher, Alex decided to take care of her stomach. The buffet was simply stunning with various little delicious things that were crying out to be tasted. You could see stars in her eyes as she saw all these little dishes calling out to her. And since she had her hands full, she was able to avoid the many contacts and greetings from the men who were present at the party and who had been eyeing her since she arrived.

On the other hand, Christ was surrounded by several young women who were trying to make advances on him one after another. Being of an open nature, they took the liberty of seducing him quite openly, even allowing themselves to touch him at will, one of them even having her arm intertwined with Christ's as if he were with her. Christ, out of habit, did not push her away until he saw Fidelia approaching him with a mocking smile.

"Well, look at that, Mr. Zhang is in good company, but etiquette says that the escort takes care of his date, so I wonder who's taking care of me since my date looks very busy."

The girls around Christopher looked at her dismissively, they were all actresses or singers and would not be bothered by a mere manager. Annoyed at her presence, one of them, the one holding onto Christ's arm, allowed herself to answer her.

"Christopher does not belong to anyone, who do you think you are? That you want him to take care of you."

"Gosh, I think you should answer the lady's question and tell her who I think I am." Fidelia had that devilish smile on her lips where Christ already sensed there was going to be trouble if he doesn't act swiftly.

All the girls present near him turned to him and waited joyfully for his answer. They knew that Christ would not allow a woman to claim him so openly, so they were already expecting Christ to happily reject Fidelia.

"Darling, what are you talking about? Of course, I have to take care of you, ahah, okay ladies, this is my girlfriend Fidelia, I am sorry I have to leave you now, I have to take care of her before she gets mad at me. Bye..." Christ was so proud as he spoke that the women were confused. Some of them still did not want to believe what they had heard, but the way he looked at Fidelia literally screamed that they were indeed a couple.

He hastily released his hand from that of the girl clinging to him and offered his arm to Fidelia, who refused to take it. She just gave him a look and walked away, Christ followed her without wasting another second, wrapping his arm tightly around her waist as he continued to apologize.

The girls on the other hand could not believe their eyes, Christopher had just told them that he had a girlfriend, it was incredible news. He was known for refusing to get into a relationship, and now he was so openly announcing to them that he had a girlfriend. The most annoying part was that it was a girl they didn't even know and who had nothing to offer!

Alex, for her part, continued to feast, oblivious to the world around her, when a group of women approached her like hunters to a prey. Among these women, she recognized the friend of Aria Clara, whom she had met last time at CANDIDE.

Looking at how unfriendly their stares were, she immediately understood that they were not approaching her with good feelings and that she had to be prepared for any eventuality. She kept eating until they were very close to her.

Kylie Allen, the little sister of Kevin Allen, was the one who began to speak, standing right next to Alex. "I don't understand how a person can eat like that during a party like this. It's not elegant at all, and to think that she has the gall to stick to Ethan's arm is disturbing..." They started talking as if Alex was not next to them.

Clara, who had already been confronted by Alex, did not think it wise to try her patience, "I don't think you should upset her. After all, look what happened to Aria. Every time she tries to attack her, she had been left humiliated..."

"What are you afraid of? I am not Aria, do not compare me to her. That girl can't do anything to me! I am the heir to the Allen family, my family is one of the richest families in the city. What can she do against me...?" Kylie felt irritated when she heard Clara. Comparing her to that stupid Aria was like an insult to her.

"Well, Aria's family is rich too... I just wanted to warn you... Do what you want, but I'll stay out of it."

Noticing that Alex was not responding to her provocations, Kylie moved even closer to Alex, who in turn was trying to spot Ethan or Fidelia to join them, as she was starting to get bored. Just as she had Ethan in her sights, who seemed to be very busy talking to other people, Kylie grabbed a glass of wine from the table and walked up to Alex with the fakest smile anyone could see.

"Hello, I am Kylie Allen. Nice to finally meet the new face of Royal Star! I am one of the shareholders of the new movie you'll be in."

"I am very pleased, I'm Alex Michell..." Alex was not impressed in the slightest, so she replied with an impassive expression.

"Nice dress by the way... Where did you get that?" Kylie was not bothered by Alex's apathy and continued talking to her...

Alex started to get annoyed and thought deep down 'if you don't have anything interesting to tell me, then let me eat in peace!', but being educated, she answered Kylie curiosity anyway. "Thank you... I can't tell you where it was bought because I don't know myself. It was a gift..."

"Did it come from Ethan? It seems to match his outfit perfectly"

'What the hell do you care? ' Alex just wanted to eat in peace, but thinking of Elliott she smiled "No, actually it was a gift from someone else..."

At that sentence, she finally wanted to leave. But Kylie anticipated her gesture and kept talking.

"Are you really in a relationship with Ethan like the media is reporting?"

"You should know that the media likes to report what suits them. Ethan is a good friend..."

"Oh, that's great, I am interested in him and it would be a shame if we were already enemies when we just met. I saw that you enjoyed Florelia's pastries. You should try this cake, it's divine and goes perfectly with this glass of wine."

As she said this, she pointed to the last cake on the tray and handed her the glass of wine she had all along their conversation with. Alex thanked her, grabbing the pastry and eating it as she slowly tasted it while taking Kylie's glass of wine. After Alex took the glass of wine, Kylie finally left with a smile on her face.

Taking precautions, Alex wait until Kylie was out of her sight and put the wine a the table, and just before joining her friend.
