Chapter 177 - You stupid son

Name:Be My Strength Author:LuoYeYouLing
When he first saw his cute grandson, he had the blackest and softest hair. For some reason, his hair turned grey almost overnight.

His daughter-in-law merely told him that the boy had a dangerously high fever and by the time he recovered, his black hair turned completely grey.

Suspicious, Grandfather Luo took him to a doctor and the doctor told him that it was most likely caused by stress.

It had baffled him. What kind of stress would cause a boy's hair to turn grey in such a short period of time?

Deep down, he had always suspected that the stress experienced by Young Ghost back then might have something to do with the disappearance of his birth mother.

Knowing that his grandson's biggest wish was to see his mother, Grandfather Luo thought of giving him a surprise on his 11th birthday by bringing her over.

However, the woman was gone.

He tried searching for her but the people he sent out all came back with negative results.

She was gone.

He sighed as he took his grandson's right hand and held it tightly. He had enough of how his son was treating Young Ghost.

"Guang Ying...It's Grandfather's fault. Don't worry. I won't let anyone hurt you anymore...I won't send you back to them... You would be staying with me from now on."

When Young Ghost heard his grandfather, he nodded tearfully. Anywhere would be better than living with those monsters!

Grandfather Luo and Butler Douglas stayed with Young Ghost until the latter fell asleep.

After a while, in a hushed tone, Grandfather Luo said to Butler Douglas, "I'll place him under your care. From now on, he is your Master. Whatever he wants, just give it to him."

"Master…"

Looking at the young man, Grandfather Luo said, "Douglas, when I'm gone... or when I can no longer shield him...Please...Please help me protect the child."

Without any hesitation, Butler Douglas nodded, "As you wish."

....

Back in the present, Grandfather Luo watched as his eldest grandson ate in silence. Unconsciously, a soft smile appeared on his face as he watched Ghost.

Of all his grandchildren, this grandson of his resembled his late wife the most. Both of them were naturally smart, patient, and kind.

He knew that Ghost was hiding his true potential in order to avoid repercussions from his father and his stepmother.

When he was still living with his mother, Ghost was smart as a whip and regardless of whether in sports or academics, he managed to be number one in everything.

He was the most popular kid in the village and everyone loved him. Grandfather Luo sighed as he watched his grandson.

The current Ghost bore no resemblance to the boy he first met at the village. It was as if he was just a ghost of his former self.

Grandfather Luo had long suspected that he was being suppressed by someone. However, without concrete proof, he was unable to do anything.

"Xiao Ying..."

"Yes, Ye Ye?" asked Ghost before he ate a mouthful of porridge. The entire time, his eyes were glued to the manga on the dining table.

Grandfather Luo was worried that his grandson might still be afraid to face his family, so he said, "If you are uncomfortable with it, you don't have to join us."

Ghost glanced at his grandfather. After a second, he placed his spoon down. With a wry look on his face, he replied honestly to his grandfather,

"I can't avoid father forever. There would come a day when you would be gone...I need to learn how to stand up to him."

Grandfather Luo understood the meaning behind it. He knew that the boy was right.

At his age, only God knew how long he had left. Once he was gone, there would be no one else to protect this defenseless boy.

He cursed silently at his ambitious son who cared only about his political ambition.

Grandfather Luo knew most of his son's vices including what he did to Ghost's mother. He knew, yet he was unable to expose him.

After all, he was a father himself. As a father, how could he send his own child to jail?

As Grandfather Luo watched Ghost who continued to eat and read, he felt depressed whenever he thought about the experiences that Ghost went through.

.....

Ghost spent the rest of the day in a mall and he arrived home just in time for dinner with his family. When he arrived, everyone was in a festive mode.

After all, it had been more than few years since the entire family gathered for a dinner. Even the staff were excited as they prepared for the reunion dinner.

Grandfather Luo was filled with happiness as he watched the members of his family talked to each other. Well, except for Ghost who sat quietly next to him.

In addition to catching up with each other, with Luo Yin's return, his parents were also eager to get Grandfather Luo to be a matchmaker.

Mrs. Luo smiled as she patted her son's head, "Pa, Xiao Yin is 30 years old now. Don't you think he should get married soon so that he can give you a great grandson?"

Ghost's lips twitched as he thought, "Great grandson? That is assuming his seeds still work."

"What are you smiling for?" asked Mrs. Luo when she noticed the small grin on his face. Her fake smile was still on, and Ghost was afraid to go against her. It was not the time yet.

With a polite smile, he replied, "Nothing, Mother. I'm just thinking that you are right. Xiao Yin is old enough to have a wife."

Grandfather Luo nodded in agreement. Luo Yin turned 30 this year and he should be raising his own brats by now.

Turning to his son and daughter-in-law, he asked, "Well...Who do you have in mind?"

"Well, it would be great if Song Qiao agrees to marry Xiao Yin but Director Song is adamant to be in-laws with the Du," sighed Mrs. Luo.

She looked at Grandfather Luo with desperation in her eyes as she continued,

"Pa, if you talk to Director Song, maybe he would agree to it. After all, our Xiao Yin is not that far behind from Du XiAn."

She loved Song Qiao and it had always been her wish to have the capable woman as her daughter-in-law.

"Director Song would never agree to it, Mum," laughed Luo Yin as he shook his head, "Besides, Xiao Tian is more suitable for Song Qiao than me."

Mrs. Luo glared at her son as she scolded him with her eyes, "You stupid son! How can you push such a fat sheep to that boy!"

Luo Yin ignored her while he continued to focus on his dinner.

Ghost watched as Luo Yin drank the soup. When Luo Yin noticed that he was staring at him, he felt suspicious and placed the bowl down.

"Big Brother Guang Ying, would you like a bowl of soup?"

Ghost shook his head.

"Don't be afraid. There's no poison here..." He glanced suspiciously at him before continuing, "...Or did YOU do something to it?"
