Chapter 161: Elliot, the gratitude earner & the bandit (a)

Hi guys, you might need to refresh to check the updated chapter. Sorry for the inconvenience!

.....

According to its understanding of the universe, only extremely powerful beings could do something like extracting vital energy out of corpses. It was sure that a human, especially a mortal, shouldn't be able to do something like that. So how was its master able to do that? Could it be that he is a super-powerful being hiding under the guise of a human??!

Excitement and curiosity flushed its beady eyes as it inclined its head to look at the face of its master.

"Master, are you using some kind of treasures to extract their vitality?"

Elliot glanced towards his slave, a look of irritation visible in his gaze. The look on his face foretold that he was going to last out at someone. The horrifying mandrake felt that something terrifying was going to happen to it. It didn't why, but it was sure that it had somehow pissed off its master, and now he was going to punish it.

Whatever it determined from his gaze wasn't wrong, not at all.

Elliot grabbed it tightly in one of his hands, then said in a low and threatening voice, "Last time, what did I tell you?"

He told the horrifying mandrake not to question him nor to get on his nerves. However, it just broke both of these rules by asking a question it shouldn't have asked. Curiosity killed the cat; these four words suddenly popped up in its mind as the light in its master's eyes turned chilly.

"I'm sorry, master!"

Feeling that death was upon it, without any hesitation, it hurriedly asked for his forgiveness. Of course, what it heard next was contrary to what it wished to hear!

"Too late."

An instant after saying those words, Elliot yanked it towards the crater with such force that it reached the ground in the blink of an eye, and then more than half of its body got buried under it.

"That should teach it a lesson!" Elliot said in a loud voice as he wanted his slave to hear his words.

After that, he recalled the four giant hands, and after they came up to him, he dissolved them into streams of the essence of life and reabsorbed them into his body.

[You've gained 5500 units of the essence of life]

[Total Essence of Life: 17500 units]

Elliot opened his status screen and looked at the amount he needed to create another celestial energy channel in his body. It was 10000 units of the essence of life, and he already had more than that. He had enough to level up once again, and only needed 2500 units more to create two celestial energy channels!

'However, now is not the right time nor the right place to create celestial energy channels. The process is painful enough to make me unable to fight or even knock me out cold, and I might not be able to defend myself from the backstabs of the ones down below.' A thoughtful look waved over his calm expression as he glanced at Oliver Charlotte and the ones standing beside him.

Six of them flinched under his gaze, but Oliver Charlotte looked back at him and regarded him with a nod while Julian waved her hands at him while shouting something incomprehensible and showing him a lovely smile.

Elliot's eyes swept past them and landed on the one lying on the ground, sleeping soundly. He used his eyes to check her vital status. Except for the fact that she was tired and had lost an enormous amount of vitality, there was nothing wrong with her.

"I should be able to transfer some of mine to help her out, right?" Elliot asked Hope in his mind.

[That's indeed possible.]

In truth, a person couldn't directly pour his essence of life into the body of another to heal them. Not only because humans don't know how to control said energy, but also because said energy was chaotic, meaning using it to increase the lifespan of another would lead to their destruction.

However, the essence of life in his body was free of every type of nature!

The divine energy in his body wasn't holy nor demonic; it was without a will and only exists to follow his thoughts, do what he wills!

One might ask why? It's because he owns the authority of life.

Whenever he had used his authority of life to extract the essence of life out of the bodies of the beings he had defeated or killed, it had purified them into a stable state before putting it into his body.

"Let's go down." Elliot flapped his wings and descended from the sky as gracefully as an angel and landed in the center of the dusty crater, a step beside his slave.

His eyes lowered towards its body which was half underground and half sticking out of it.

"Do you want me to rip you out of the ground?"

Those threatening words had just left his mouth when at that very moment, the horrifying mandrake pulled its face out of the ground and stood up.

"No thanks, master!" The horrifying mandrake said while patting itself on the chest, taking off the dust from its body.

What was the use of the slave that doesn't help its master and instead needs its master's help?

None!

It knew that, and that's why it helped itself out before its master could even move down to do what he had said.

"Good," Elliot said, satisfied with its current attitude.

Training a slave was taxing, mentally and physically, but he was intent on doing that!

Anyway, as the clouds of dust around him were getting in his way, Elliot discharged waves of spiritual energy to blast all of them. While he did that, his slave climbed up to his shoulder and looked at him as if it wanted to say something.

"Master?" It called out to him.

Elliot turned to look at him, then asked, "What is it?"

It bowed to him and said, "Master, thanks for taking revenge for me."

Elliot moved his eyes away from it, an indifferent look taking root on his face as he said, "If you want to repay me, start being useful from now on."

"I will serve you with all my heart, master!" The horrifying exclaimed after straightening its back.

"Words hold no value," Elliot said with a serene expression on his face as he walked towards Oliver and the others.

"I will prove my dedication with my actions, master," It said, eyes lit aflame in the desire to repay Elliot.

Some moments later, Elliot reached the group of nine, and all of them stepped out of his way subconsciously as if he was some kind of ferocious beast. Not only was he strong enough to blast them apart with a single attack, but the wings sprouting out of his back made him appear like a higher existence in their eyes, one that they didn't want to defy.

Elliot didn't care what the others thought about him, and he walked past them without even glancing at them, making them feel even more inferior. He didn't stop until he reached Lucy Love, towering over her like an ancient god.

"Lucy, you're damn lucky," Elliot muttered in a low voice, but Oliver and Julian heard what he said, and what they saw next left them shocked.

Out of palms, waves after waves of golden energy surged out and cascaded down on her body, seeping into her, causing her hair to turn golden once again and redness to flush her cheeks.
