Chapter 259: Giving out an invitation

The restaurant owner clearly knew who Theo and John were, and he also knew that Elliot and the others had recently arrived here. According to him, Elliot shouldn't be rich enough to fork out so many spirit points without batting an eye. After all, Elliot wasn't a member of the resistance, and he also didn't have any time to earn the spirit points!

However, the reality was far different than his conclusions!

Elliot managed to pay off the entire bill and, in the process, also ruined his plans.

"Let's go! I don't want to stay at this rip-off for even a moment longer."

Grace, Little Nightmare, and even Theo felt angry as they felt that Lake Wallace, the best intermediate-grade magic chef, had ripped them off. They were so fascinated by the magical steak that they lost their common senses and forgot even to check the menu. At the same time, Lake Wallace didn't inform them about the astronomical value of the meal and kept quiet to profit off of them when the time came! They were all in the wrong. Of course, none of them wanted to accept that they were wrong!

"I don't know why you did that, and I honestly don't care. After all, I am the one who boisterously demanded the best meal, and I am happy that that's what you gave me." After Theo picked up John, placed him over his shoulder like a rice bag, and stormed out of the restaurant with Grace and Little Nightmare, Elliot gazed at Lake Wallace and said, "But I do want you to know that I am so strong that I don't need to fear anyone. Ah well, there might be some that I need to look out for, but the administrators of this place are definitely not on the list. The only reason I paid what I owed is that I respect your talent. I hope you can understand that." Elliot thought that he might come off as arrogant to the other party, so he also added, "I believe you might be thinking that I sound arrogant, but it's only because you don't know me or the things I have done to sit in this place today."

Contrary to Elliot's expectations, Lake knew that he was a powerful man.

"I know. I have heard of some of the things you have done out on the farms." One must know that the spirit beast forest was a farm created by the spirit race to rear and cultivate beasts and spirit herbs, and that's why to everyone here, including Lake, that place was merely a farm.

"Really?"

"Yes, the videos about you are all over the internet. Most of us have seen you fighting the demonic god and were awed by how you protected the spirit beasts and their homes. You are literally the god and idol of many people here."

"I don't see anyone fawning over me."

Elliot didn't see any truth in his words. If he was so popular, why did the gambling machine owner treat him like a speck of dust? If he was so popular, where were his fans? If he was so popular, why did Luke let him eat the steak and drink the juice without telling him that the price would nearly empty his pockets?!

"It's because of the administrators; they forbade us from throwing a welcoming party to outsiders or even crowd around them."

Outsiders or dear customers, as Lake would like to call them, were beings like Elliot, Theo, and everyone who weren't created or born in this city made out of hovering stones, giant constructs that regulate the environment and temperature, and everything artificial.

"Administrators again, huh? Why do they keep on imposing rules on others as if they are running a syndicate? They are like the local tyrant of this place." Elliot shook his head in disgust as he found the administrators somewhat similar to another terrorist organization where free will and freedom weren't respected at any level.

"Let's not talk about that anymore."

"What do you want to talk about then? Your friends have already left. How about you catch up to them?"

Lake urged Elliot to leave his little restaurant. In a sense, he was telling him to get out of his territory. The little ancestor heard him but showed no intention of taking his leave. Little ancestors come uninvited and go uninvited.

"I am interested in your existence as a whole." Hearing his words and seeing the intense look in his eyes, Lake trembled and felt a bit offended. He knew he was handsome enough to make many heart flutters like butterfly wings, and he loves when that happens. But he was not at all happy this time as it was a man showing such interest in him. He was straight!

"Don't get me wrong; I am not into robots." Seeming to read his thoughts, Elliot said those words in a hurry to clear his confusion.

"Ah, I see." Lake realized that he had misunderstood him and taken him for a pervert that preys on young and handsome robots like him wrongfully.

"What I want is your companionship, are you willing? Shit, that sounds wrong too, right?"

No matter how wrong it sounded, Lake understood that Elliot wanted him to join his party and become a personal chef for him and his teammates.

"You want me to follow you?"

"Yes, I think it is a waste to leave you here. You're an expert chef, and with your level of skills, you can probably best the best magic chef from the place I came from. So, how about it? Do you want to leave behind your stall and follow me to witness the wonder of the universe?"

Elliot wasn't going to spend his life on planet Xavier. He had already decided that after taking care of the mess in Earth and Xavier, he would create a spaceship and venture into the stars, traveling through the endlessness, exploring different planets, mingling with countless civilizations, and experiencing their wonders. Hopefully, he would be able to do that with his wives and companion. After all, a solo tour wasn't as colorful as one with many people.

"I need some time to decide."

Lake was born in this place. It was his home, and the little restaurant was the embodiment of his lifetime. It wasn't easy for him to just agree to become the companion of someone he had just met!

"When I am going to leave this place, I will visit you once again. At that time, I hope you will have an answer."

After throwing those words at him, Elliot left the restaurant.

Left behind was a robot with a deep pondering expression on his face.
